A very dear friend of mine and I sang this song together every week...we would mess up the words,but laughed through it. He told me yesterday he never wants to see me again because of a silly misunderstanding...so sad to lose his friendship over something stupid, but it will always bring me happy memories to hear it. You know, more than a few of John's songs poke fun at the smug and self-righteous. I was fortunate enough to get to see him play (along with Steve Goodman) somewhere around 1976 or '77 and a few times since. For me, it's always been a little treat to get to introduce someone unfamiliar with him to his music.

Usually this song brings a tear to my eye, but seeing these two, obviously deeply in love with each other, singing this song as wonderful as they did, it brought a smile to my face. Ya, its a humorous song, but its also got beauty in it. The laughter in the crowd was at sometimes akwardly uncalled for. That being said, you two did great. Very great. Amazing actually. One thing though, and this is just me, but the line originally goes "In spite of ourselves, we'll end up a'sittin on a rainbow". For some reason, i think adding the "a" to 'sittin" makes it so much better. idk why! you should add that(: great job.
