@6U4RD1AN it won't ever change until people have energy independance perhaps solar and wind or some other way, also each person can make choices like refusing to buy products associated with war contractors, its an attitude that must change or wars will never stop
@MrROTD I think its alrready happening, to some extent, people have worse opinion of wars than in any time in the past, but we have a loooooooooooooong way to go yet.
I don't really understand the justification of war causing technological advances, if it really comes down to funding and necessity. If all millitary budget funds went to research instead I wonder where we would have been.
Wars promote technology because of urgency and pressure. This is when humans work best, yes?
You can say cancer is urgent but does your fellow soldier have it and is that going to affect a war. No...because cancer and soldier dont go hand in hand sadly.
Its the way humans function, adapt adapt adapt. If a situation is calm then there is no need to adapt since everything for you is working well but as soon as shit hits the fan and you might die. Natural selection kicks in.
Promote? What I say is that there is just no way to justify advance that is fuled by lost like this. There is still fields of research still promoted by urgency. Every critical system within medicine and engineering is still based on it.
In the end I bet if 99% of all the money gone to fighting wars (check Good's video of war funding) went to reasearch, we would have had greater advances and/or even less poverty.. whatever, nothing changes with discussions in youtubes comment field anyway.
Ah you missed the point of if you dont have cancer as a human you are not urged to complete it at 100% will power. If you have the fear of knowing that if you fail the other country will destroy you, then your brain works in over drive, people become a collective.
So soldier A blows off soldier Bs foot, then soldier B comes back as a cyborg and blows away soldier A who comes back as a cyborg and blows away soldier A etc etc etc.
Am I the only one who thinks nuclear power and the internet (say they are good things) would have been invented even without war?
Nuclear power isn't really a good thing, look at the radiations and you would understand that is a big bad for a little good. For the internet, it has been developped because it was necessary, if there were no wars, it wouldn't have been requested so it wouldn't have been invented.
it's good to work on technology for disabled people, but nothing (NO THING) justifies war. enough amputations are produced from car accidents, diabetes, smoking...
Would it be possible to rewire everything in your arm/leg to fit a synthetic limb? Basically making the signals the brain sends out go to the synthetic limb and it would act accordingly, like a real limb.
I bet it is, but maybe not with current technology.
let Crytek do the job inventing the robots...or just make a nanosuit

The justification of militar expenditures is annoying.
Why not invest directly in civil development?
USA is hooked to war.

We use our limbs to use advanced technology that destroys our limbs so we can use other advanced technologies to get new limbs. :/
