I think that's just ridiculous. Mockingbird's can be vicious. They attack anything that gets anywhere near its nest.

These f-ing birds start chirping outside my apartment at 1:00am EVERY NIGHT!!! I haven't been able to sleep for two months. It's illegal to kill them. Earplugs don't work - they just filter out all the other noises and the piercing mockingbird "song" still gets through. Everyone who thinks mockingbirds are wonderful should try living in my apartment for a month. They'd change their tune in a second.

Love it when these birds do that brief jump in mid-air, flap around real fast, and then sort of 'sail' back down to a perching position... it's like a delicate form of avian ballet or something. thanks for posting this!
