Cheech Marin tried to what Siouxsie does at 1:14 in the movie where he and Chong perform at the battle of the bands in late 70's Hollywood. Anyone recall that?
i love the guitars i knnow Siouxsie hates JOHN MCKAY AND KENNY MORRIS But they were bad to the bone Especially John Mckay he just had a style of playing and look that just said FUCK U Sorry they ditched the band But this song is badass I LOVE THE GUITAR NAH NAH NAH NUH NICOTINE SPREADS
like most things in british culture its all fashion. especially at that point in time. Look at sid vicious, he would ware one too. It was mainly for shock value. Not my cup of tea, but there you go....
Umm, considering the banshees other songs, I'm prettty sure Siouxsie isn't racist, so what's with the Nazi arm band in that one picture? Anyone have any insight? I love them, so I hope this doesn't damage my view.
every punk wore swasitkas -- it was STUPID. I was 14 and I did the same thing. We didn't even get it. Half my band was jewish and black and we all aore them.
Yes we had no grasp of history and felt that we were just making it all up-- we felt that the world was vacuous and without meaning and yet everybody was pretending to be so holy so we just did a bunch of crazy stuff to shake it up and wake people up ... all the people I know from that time are harcore vegan human / animal rights political now -- youth is wasted on the young I suppose : )
i remember the first time i heard the scream on the john peel show back in the 70s this inspired me to join my first band and get my guitar from woolies i am still playing their stuff magic
steady orchid!!! you're right though..i was born 15 years too late and in the wrong place-never mind.. love this track though, although red light i think is my fav..wasnt really aware of the music until recently..awakened lots of childhood memories..hmmm..she is beautiful, talented and vegetarian..what i'd give-stop now..
This is still one of my favorite cds. Scream, Siouxsie's first, the energy and you showed some really great pics of the God Mother of Punk! I too met her on her Juju tour. I still remember it was halloween, and she sang the song Halloween, the crowd went wild. She was so beautiful and friendly.
Wonderful song. so much raw, vibrant energy. I enjoy hearing this, just as much as I did......oh 30 years ago! Beautiful girl too, never did get to meet her, sadly.
I was in brussels, where it was forbidden to smokein the building so I had to dive down quite a bit to light my smokes..in 2008 it will be forbidden to smoke in venues in Holland too, but yesterday we still had the opportunity and me and my friends damped several(=lots!) cigarettes and joints right in front of her..:) lol that's Amsterdam still, just like the old times...
Siouxsie is such a unique character.

Siouxsie is in fact jewish, the whole thing was too, surprise, shock, part of the 70`s punk.

Siouxsie is in fact NOT Jewish. But, yeah, it was purely for shock tactics, not for any anti-semitic or racist ideolgies.
SluttChops 2 years ago 3

It was to shock people, and draw attention to themselves. Some were racist.
