SO I'm a little new to Ghost In the Shell. I mean, I've seen Stand Alone Complex, both seasons, twice but I have not been able to see ANY of the movies. I do know that this one happens to come after SAC but- ok let me get to the point. Weird as it may seem, I sort of ship the Major and Batou (and somtimes the Major and Kuze :P) and i read that at the end there was kind of hinting to their relationship and stuff so I was hoping to find that scene or something. The reason Yoko Kanno chose Russian is that a lot of the "Immigrants" discussed in the GITS series are ex-Russian asiatics. I have been studying Japanese for the last two years, and was surprised to discover that there is a HUGE Russian influence that dates back to the Cold War. Thus, there is a huge population of both Russians and Japanese who have been influenced by the other's culture (in fact, the northern Kurile Islands are still disputed as to whether they are "Russian" or "Japanese".
