Steve is a friend and for anyone who cares his band is competing this month in the Memphis with Bands from all over the U.S. and the world for "best Blues Band" His wife Patty does vocals. Besides the Blues he can play about anything you ever heard any style.
i think his guitar compliments his body...but i kinda hate the fact that he started out with such a tone right at the start (so much crunch and distortion).
wait wat lol? im not saying he's a bad player! i wish i could some day play like that! all im saying that if you watch someone like santana (as you mentioned him), he builds up the song more with his band...
This guy is a great player. It's hilarious all the criticism that goes on....he was at the KOB grand finals...YOU WEREN'T. think about that before you shit on him
I was at the HOB for the '06 competition. This guy definitely was the most "polished" but his playing frankly put me to sleep (which is why he didn't win). Everything sounds the same after the first couple of minutes and he just didn't have the stage presence to be "the man" that night.
What the hell ? This is the 3d guy I've looked at that was in this contest and I'm shakin' my head. THIS is BLUES/ROCK ! A "hybrid" of blues music itself. Always overdone and no room to let it "breath" . At All. It's a shame this is what's deemed "blues". The guy can play but what the hell...
This guy is nothing better than OK. He's a decent player, but nothing special. He can't touch Laith Al Saadi. He gets a little sloppy at times. Just saw Laith live opening for the Yardbirds and that guy plays some of the tastiest licks you will ever hear.
Can't believe the judges gave so much weight to showmanship and looks - maybe if you'd have burned your guitar or something (or played it under your leg)?
I've listened to all them finalists, and Steve Harper is definitely my winner in all aspects. He plays particularly melodic in an awesome and effective combination of virtuosity and musicality. His influences are not to be traced so easily as all other competitors... he's got a voice of his own. I also love his sound. Peace!
hello..the guy who won cannot hold a candle to this guy..the whole thing had to be fixed. excuse me i know music--steve was by far the best of this group..lol
Great playing! every other finalist I see makes the O'Ree win even more of a sham. I want to see and hear great playing over jumping around like a monkey.
Kind of reminiscent of Europa by Santana

Oh man. That tone is filthy. I wish I could get that, but it's kind of hard on a solid bodied strat.

The main melody line is reminiscent of Santana's "Europa." He did a great job.

This guy has a great style, it's based off the blues, but it's not actually "blues". It sounds like Gary Moore.

this guy should have cut off a toe before he played so he can actually have been feeling something stronger.
The blues feeds some of us and you cannot fool a man who got fat on the blues because he will still be very hungry after listening to you.
