Hmmm.. I had a plastic bin and my syrian hamster chewed thru the upper corner somehow and escaped!! I have NO IDEA how, but it's like it was jumping from it's igloo it seems impossible but we found him.. in the closet.. Still trying to figure this one out..

basically, what ya did is bought a very small tupperware bin and cut a hole in the top.

I dont reconmend plastic bins as cages. Not enough air and you could get a better one for like 10 to 20 dollars (starter kits at petco) They will chew holes in the bin the starter kits arent the best but they are better than a bin much better for them to.

@Lstar8D There is plenty of air the top. If you wan more air; you can cut holes out of the sides of the bin.

I have been using this bin in an excess of 4 years; there has never been a hamster that bit the bin, or found a way to bite the bin. This is simply because there are not edges for them to bite, unlike many retail cages

Most plastic starter kits are shit. They are way too small. Most cages tend to be small as well as being very messy and noisy as hamster like to bite the bars.

Yes you can keep them in a plastic bin just please make sure it has enough things to do and floor space.I recomend plastic bin cages as play pens and traveling because over time the bin will be chewed on and soon will have holes but you also can buy a 20 Gallon tank at walmart for like 39.99 .

well i wasnt cutting the lid...? im tryting to make a 3level cage.. so its like a 3 shelf thing.. so i trying to cut the side of the shelf... the plastic was quick think...

what did u use to cut out the lid..?? i tried cuting the plastic with utility knife... but the result was it could crack the plastic reli easily... i think its hard plastic.. but i dont av a jigsaw... what should i do??

I used a exacto, but the plastic was pretty easy to cut. You just have to use a lot of force

I do not have a cat, or any other animal at the moment. I know from experience that hamsters can get out of anything, however in this case, its much more likely they'll find an edge and bite through the plastic. The cap just make it look cool xD
