  • Today I was stuck in traffic longer then Stevie Winwood was.

  • To schroter333 - I have a bunch of different live versions by Dave Mason and/or Traffic. I like all of them better than Cocker's. It seems to me Joe got famous doing alot of covers of other people's songs. From Traffic to Beatles...

  • Thumbs up all who like this version over Joe Cocker's (I just want to know, I personally like Joe Cocker's version more).

  • @TYANTOWERS not to complicate matters more, but honestly My favorite is Rare Earths cover of this song.I DO like them all however! (I play this one myself in one of my bands!)

  • @reyjalapeno No one ever did it as well as the author, Dave Mason kills this tune

  • I appreciate anyne who grew up this way. Rumors have it this may be the year for the big journey. Hell I,m 61 and just barely hanging on. Good luck to all of us gettin back home kids !

  • No disrespect to Traffic, Dave Mason and the rest who did this song...but Joe Cocker's version SMOKES the rest!

  • @jabnhook8r Joe is a music god, but the Traffic version is great. Plus you have to give respect to the guy that wrote the song.

  • @jabnhook8r no disrespect to you either bud but imho grand funk's blasts 'em both

    outta the water

there's a 'tube out there ive seen some hippiefest thing mason fronting it but farner

on the stage too ha woulda been perfect if only cocker'd shown up

  • Musical dexterity!

When you've got this why do people even bother with todays inept music?

  • @emptypages1970 Agreed! I will say this- there's always gonna be good bands coming out. But there's just too much amazing stuff from the past to concern myself with the present.

  • @dangoguenhave you heard: how-hi-the-li by family,

happiness is just around the bend by brian auger,

    melissa by the alloman brothers

  • dislikes have no soul

  • @MsSmorrow it was a song that was ment for another band to bring out all the soul in it, like grand funk did.

  • 3 dog night, joe cocker, dave mason/traffic, grand funk railroad et al did justice to this great great song...

  • @godisdeadagain And Rare Earth

  • Dave Mason Baby

  • Not only were they a great band, but their music is just as good today as it was when it was recorded. Timeless perfection.....I love Traffic!

  • My band played all these traffic songs in the late sixties/early seventies....they were great then and now. Many were redone by Joe Cocker and others, a testament to their classic status...

  • One of the best groups of 60's-70'sTraffic, Steve Windwood rocks n rules. My favorite song was Low Spark of the High Heeled Boys. Jerome Plotnick, L.O.W., CA.

  • This song basically describes a doomed relationship I had with a girl I still think about.

  • Jeff Tweedy from wilco looks a lot like Chris Wood. Anyone else think so?

  • @GreenyMcFleetwood yea he does..in that pic at least

  • Dave Mason, a bit underrated. Saw him many years ago with Livingstone Taylor (James Taylor's brother) up at Angles Camp. Always a good show there.

  • 'alirightttt' lol gr8 songggg

  • What an apt and fitting title to a song!

  • Is that Jason Orange & Mark Owen at the back..?

  • * * * * *

  • its a TRAFFIC tune with mason on vocals if you wanna do that then how bout just saying that ninety percent are winwood!!

  • watch?v=7bvCJv31SeQ Feeling Alright Vino Rosso

  • It's Dave Mason song and he lead the vocals....

  • The Joe Cocker version of this song makes me want to spazz with rage. Hail Satan.

  • @hailbot666 how old are we again, If you're 13 its alright to act like a fag and use 666 and speak of the devil, I'm guessing ur using the devil to piss ur mom off???

  • esta super rola.. de esta super banda.. y.... ademas.. sintiendose bien... ugg.!!! me da demasioadoi.. yeah.!" hjartqpeqwtqwtwqtwq!!

  • Traffic might be the most underrated group of the 60s. Such a unique sound that you can still trace back to its roots, and such a prolific song catalogue.

  • Simply brilliant!!

  • Damn these guys were good together..........

  • Great song and clothes still look cool decades later

  • Just got back from seeing Dave Mason, even though its been 43 yeras, he still sounded like he did when I first heard him in '67.

  • @camarorider67 I'm going to be seeing him in a small club in Scottsdale in one month

  • I can so remember hearing this album back in the late 60's... man, there was some STUFF to listen to! I bought this album and Nazz on day...what a freaking SCORE!!!!

  • This song is perfect at one exception : Winwood does only the refrain's chorus. I wish he would be the lead singer. But only hearing his chorus on the refrain warms ALL the song. Winwood is the Jackson 5's Michael, he is the cheese on the pastas!!

  • @difolk Dave Mason's voice is perfect for this song. And he wrote it too, so why shouldn't he sing it? As one person already mentioned, very similar to Stephen Stills.

  • @ravenkiller1 Mason's voice is ok. But it's just ok! Winwood's one is wonderfull! So ok it's Mason's song, but who cares, when you're in a band, it's not because you wrote a song that you should necessarily lead sing it, the purpose being to make the best result possible and serve the song. And the shorts passages when we hear Winwood at the refrains, are the best moments of the song for me, That's honnestly what my ears tell me, what my emotions tell me, just because of the timbre of his voice!

  • @difolk I happen to think his voice is better than just ok. I understand that when you're part of a band that you don't necessarily sing the songs you write. Mason didn't write "We Just Disagree". But in this case Mason was coming back to Traffic...it was only right that he sang it. Sometimes songs are constructed in ways to give you a taste of something rather than the whole entree. Listen to "Seven Turns" by the Allman Brothers. Gregg Allman is only heard on the refrain & it fits perfectly.

  • @ravenkiller1 I disagree with your opinion but no problem, I accept that tastes can't be discussed. It's just a question of feelings. And for me, wathever the circumstances, Winwood's voice will always be more interesting than Mason's one in any song, will always make the song warmer and richer, it's just obvious in my ears, there's no need any explanation. And it's ok if you don't feel the same! Whatever, this song still is great the way it is!! ;)

  • @difolk I think another reason they had Mason sing lead is because the arrangement is very folksy and his voice seems to be more suited to that style. If Winwood sang lead on this I believe they would have had to arrange it differently. Winwood has the better voice no doubt, but I think Mason's is a better fit for this particular arrangement.

  • @ravenkiller1 Once again I disagree, sorry :). I see what U mean but Winwood has the kind of voice, of talent, that he could fit to any style, the proof for me is that there are a lot of songs in which he leads and which are not at all soul arranged. I'm sure that with this same arrangement, his voice would have just be perfect. But don't get me wrong, I never said that Mason's voice in this song was bad, it's great as it is, I just feel it could be even better.

  • @difolk Who said anything about soul arrangement? He does all types of arrangements beautifully. Obviously you're obsessed with Winwood, so I'm out. No point continuing this. Start your campaign for Winwood to do every song of every genre...best of luck to you!

  • @ravenkiller1 Why do you say I'm obsessed with Winwood? I'm not! I just tell you my opinion, I answer your argument with what I think. I didn't say anything different of what I was saying on my previous comments, it means the same thing. I don't understand why you say that, I just develop my thought. I don't like at all what Winwood did from the 80's, the way he used technology in his songs. Just his voice is freakin' beautiful and more interesting than Mason's one even on this song (for me)!

  • I agree with you S Winwood voice stick, his voice have been with me since the time he was with traffic.but it boild down to the whole song the music that can bribg out it great voice.they have many great singer out there if they are not with the right group they can't shine some don't have a voice as good as stevie but the group was good i don't want to drope name because they are also i like

  • @ravenkiller1 Perhaps because Dave Mason wrote the song?

  • @SteamDougy Read my other comments. I mentioned that.

  • @ravenkiller1 Yes indeed, I hadn't read that far. :)

  • Voice so very similar to Stephen Stills

  • @buffspringfield As of 1/26/2012, 4 more people need to 'get a life'! Traffic was a great classic rock band and RIP to the members who passed away...Sadly, this great song is rarely played on mainstream FM classic rock stations nowadays....

  • NOOOO DISLIKES!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!

  • "One of The most Creative BEST,album's ever Made ,get off the Floor.

  • I LOVE THEM!

  • Fuckyeah!

    :D

  • Ostbahn Kurti & die Chefpartie, Höchste Zeit (1985), Album: Live

  • like i said,be honest here......mason is a blagger...WINWOOD IS THE SOUL STAR..

  • winwood should have sung this........maso BVS.

  • For there's too much to do before I die.

  • well now i don't...

  • I'm feel alright

  • why did Mason leave "Traffic" anyway? 'he had a lot to offer musically and was a nice vocal change from Winwood and Capaldi to give them more depth and character

  • @busterbone

I don't know why he split, but I agree with you. He definitely added a different mood to the band's sound.

And what a song! Forty years down the line and it still sounds great.

  • @written12 agreed. I also like the symbol for the band-next to Chris wood pointed finger. Traffic's still very cool band that is missed in today's newer mostly crappy music. I also like many bands especially Jethro Tull and Moody Blues that I think are better overall for classic rock than more popular bands like Led Zep and Pink Floyd. I believe a Steve Winwood Ian Anderson (JT) collaboration would

knock the Music Gods out of their heavenly slumber and re-define genius musician.

  • @busterbone

Winwood and Ian Anderson? Interesting pairing. You make a good point- there are numerous musicians who could have, should have found their way to each other over the years.

As for classic rock radio, it's really a joke. The same few songs by the same few bands. And don't get me wrong- they are, for the most part, very good or even songs, but the spectrum of great rock is much broader.

By the way, if you like Traffic, check out the Mark-Almond Band.

  • @busterbone You need Ian anderson and Jon anderson for this to succeed.

  • @lolodlavielleho ... sorry , NO -- That would be " Jethro Tull " -- another great band ,. But -- traffic is just fine as they were . No -- not just fine -- maybe the BEST -- in song writing ;

    musicianship ; vocals ... i like Traffic ;>) joey

  • @busterbone DM in a documentary felt that his songs were looked down upon (especially hole in my shoe!) , others say that he tried to push around Winwood. Ironically, only these 2 remain from the original 60s line up.

  • @anthonythirteen thanks for the info. I like both Dave Mason and Steve Winwood's singing and guitar playing. It sounds like many bands, they had ego issues with one another that forced lineup changes or members to leave early. Too bad Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood couldn't intervene to keep them all together over time.

  • @busterbone - the cliched- but-it's-becase-its so-true one of 'Musical Differences'

  • This echoes the Little Feat song, where after jamming, the mood changes.

  • im not feelin too good myself

  • i think the mood of this song when it was made was depressed but to the point where he just dont even care anymore. so he performs lightly. maybe such an upbeat song for that reason

  • @projectpat18 i get that

  • @projectpat18 I don't even question it because occasionally I get like that myself.

  • uma das preciosidades que os 60's nos proporcionou

  • Comment removed

  • its funny how a sad song, with sad lyrics, becomes a song that is upbeat.

  • Joe Cocker is a cover song hack.... Traffic will move the red lights to Reno!

  • are those tattoo you waiting on a friend horns?

  • @kitakashiwa dude wtf does that mean?????lollll wtf hahaha

  • I'm Feelin Alright!
