Okay, please let make me CLEAR what I tried to say, for people's been no reading what I commented properly, and since I probably didnt make my statement clear. @LoveActuallies thats the point this anime is a horror anime. thats why my sister and i loved it because its the only good horror anime that isnt pervy. i mean its not that scary to me. buts it has a really good story line. you learn about each character like how Satoko would get abused by her father. its a really good anime dont give up on it just because its bloody.

If I'm correct Elfen Lied and Higurashi are two, very different yet similar animes.

Elfen Lied - Gut bombs, decapitating, and severing of limbs.

Higurashi - Torture, mental illness, and betrayal.

It just depends on what type of 'horror' you like most.

@Apy3173 the series is about rika and how she lives in parralel worlds trying to defeat the evil guys, everytime rika dies the world "restarts" thanks to hanyuu "a god whos rikas frind" and the can try again to defeat the evil and live a happy life, they dies a couple of times in the series but you have to watch it cause its a really good anime when you understand it all..

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is the name of the original anime, its true it jumps into it a bit, but watch the whole thing, it is more understandable then, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai is the second season, which helps explain why season one is ordered the way it is :o.

I dont really know how to explain it without giving away spoilers, but for the first season, it's about a boy that recently moved into a small village that seems peaceful for the moment. But then, for at least a day later, someone would chat to him about how there used to be horrible events one after the other when ever the village's festival comes up.
