  • I think shorter apes (Flanders #2 bars) mounted on Glide risers and "gator" fork boots look great on a Star 1100. Mine looked great on my 1100 until some moron yakking on a cell phone took me out in fall 2011. Thankfully, the bike took the worst of it all. Ride safe out there.

  • dude you gotta get rid of the AIS.......Extremely easy to do it will really clean up the engine

  • I really like what you have done! Just a sugestion; remove the front fork covers... Those are some ugly parts. Otherwise thumps up!

Check out my bobber building blog i'm doing for my v-star 1100.

    cheers

  • Any problems with no front fender I meant to ask?

  • Any problems/issues within hot the front fender? I really like the look.

  • ARE THEY VANCE & HINES PIPES? ALSO IS IT CARBY OR EFI?

  • so what is the story on yo0ure tires?

  • i'm assuming u had to cut the frame rear of the seat to accomodate the new fender?

  • where did you get your brake line extensions and longer clutch cable for the 14" road six customs ape hangers?

  • Beautiful bike.

  • i have a custom and want to take off my mufflers did you have to do anything to the motor before doing it or can you just take them off ????

  • What brand is your license mount?

Bike looks great and hope you're getting riding in.

  • Bad aaaaasssssssss!

  • Looks nice! Same pipes that I have on my '06 1100 Custom Midnight.

  • fakin sweet ride, i wish i never sold mine!! but will have one next summer. how much did it cost you to bob it? total cost? that just looks amazing, I hope you still have it!

  • @fcarabat about $1,000 to bob it. It could have been cheaper if I made my own parts, but I don't have a shop to do that kind of stuff in. I'm gonna post some new vids in a few weeks. Should come out great!

  • Thanks, I was looking at the swingarm solo saddlebags on Youtube and there are some v stars that have them on...they looked like they fit. I emailed a company out in California who sells these bag... they confirmed that I would not have to remove my footpeg but looking at my bike the footpeg comes outward and the swingarm frame is close to the rear tire. It looks like you have no footpegs in your video.

  • moto84af- did you get rid of your passenger footpegs. I'm looking at adding a swingarm solo saddlebag on the left side but the foot peg. Looking at the swingarm I noticed that footpeg might give me some problems...

  • @73FIREful my bike is now a solo seater. I havn't tried putting saddlebags on it, so you may want to check on what your clearences are going to be. Hope this helps!

  • moto84af...It's almost time to take the bikes out of winter storage. It's been a loooong winter. Got mine in the shop and i'm going with Baron's 16" ape hanger after all...will post a video soon as it's done.

  • @73FIREful Oil changed...lowered 2 inches... The bike is all ready to go...AND IT SNOWED ALL DAY YESTERDAY! She's going to have to wait awhile before it gets nice out! Lovin it

  • @moto84af I hear brother, it freakin snowed all day here as well. It was nice seeing the yellow (green) grass for the last few weeks...today is another story, the sun is out but freakin COLD! and it's slowly melting the snow... hopefully that'll be it for snow and the cold....

  • i dont know what the laws are around your area but you can just lose the turn signals altogether if you want..as long as you know hand signals

  • Hey, I like the look of your bike and it sounds great too. I have a V Star 650 classic and am looking at getting the same Z bars. How do you like the 14" bars, any discomfort when out for long rides? Here in Ontario, Canada our laws states that the height of the seat to the height of the handlebars grip (palms down) cannot be more that 15"... I gotta go with either 10" or 12" bars. Any advice...

  • @73Fire Thanks for the comments :) As far as the handle bars are concerned, I'd say anything that works for you and is legal is the best way to go. At first the bars were a little uncomfortable, but after a day's ride, you start to really love them. I've ridden my buddies bike and it has straight bars, and I can tell you It felt weird riding with those on. Once I lower the bike, I'll throw some new video of it and also me riding it. Cheers!

  • @moto84af Thanks for you response and advise. Yeah, I agree with you about our long winters and not riding...doesn't that just suck! My bike is in storage too. I'll get my friend to hlep me with changing the bars and other things. Hopefully this winter goes by real quick so we can get out and do some more riding. I'll post some video as well. Stay safe...

    Cheers

  • bad ass bike. thanks for sharing the vid

  • Oh yeah right on. I've seen this video and didn't even realize it was the same bike. It turned out really good man. My ole lady about fell out when I cut the sub frame off of mine. I don't have a video yet but I have about 40 pics at my face book. Mine is an 04 and it was a classic. You can google mikestervision to get my facebook.

  • @MIKESTERVISION Thanks! I'm going to lower it about 1.5-2 inches this winter while the bike sits in storage. Gotta do something since I can't ride!

  • Thanks for getting back to me.....I talked to Seth at road 6 and he suggests the wider bars for our style bike but I like the skinnier ones....which ones r these and what do u think?

  • @csems315 I was looking for bars that were skinny towards the risers. I can't remember which style this was, I like them-all that matters right?

  • Hey looks great do u remember what the length of the cables for ur bars are I was lookin to get those road 6 bars for my 1100 and am not sure what length of cable I'll need for 14 or 16 in apes....thanks again and the bike looks awesome.

  • @csems315 I got +8in over stock for these bars, but you may want to get maybe go +6 or 7 because mine are a tad too long for the bars. Thanks for the comment!

  • Sweet ride!

  • Did you have to change any cables when you went from stock bars to the Road 6 apes? I'm looking at putting some 12 in. bars on mine.

  • @Freak95 The stock cables didn't work with my bars, and I got the 14'' apes. Make sure when you measure for new cables that you don't mess up like I did.

  • lol. ok. Yeah, i've done the measurements and come out with the number that i'll have 1 inch of cable left over. I talked to Seth at Road 6, and he said to just see what happens when I get the bars in. I'm hoping that the only thing, if any, that I have to replace is the brake line. It looks like it may be short. Where did you get your cables from? and how much?

  • Bike looks awesome man, I'm planning on getting those handlebars this winter for my Vstar. Check out my 1100, not as much work done to it as yours but I'm pretty proud of it.

  • @dalaigh Thanks man. Your paint job is pretty wicked. The bars are fantastic though! I get compliments on the bike every time I ride. I think I'm going to lower the bike this winter, maybe 1.5-2 inches. Who knows, i'll see what happens when I get to it. After getting out of the military, i've found I have more time to tinker with this hobby!

  • Nice looking bobber. It's very similar to mine. Check mine out. Now time to squeeZe size 190 tire in the rear. I got the metzler me880 style. Looks way more agressive. Try to paint ur wheels or powdercoat in black. That will make a big difference too.

    Overall. It's a sick bobber.

  • I've been trying to think about what I want to do with the wheels. I was thinking of doing some type of rear tire conversion for a bigger tire, but we'll see. I just ordered white wall tires too, so that'll bring a classy look. Your bobber looks pretty BA man, I watch bobber vids while I'm at work, and i think i've seen your vids like 20 times LOL

  • nice looking bike
