  • Folding only costs a lot of power, and therefore electricity costs

  • And when it gives results

  • ShootingBricks..... irony..... Mine is ICrapBricks....

  • I use to be on another team, but they kind of dissolved, So I joined your team. I'm moving up. I'm almost in your top 100. I should be there In a day or two.

  • Nice video guys :)

    For the cause!! FOLD ON!!

    Votick - Team Custom PC & bit-tech

  • im going to join your team now

  • go team jiggmin.com XD

  • RIP

  • I guess you are right but it will most likely not happen any time soon.

  • as soon as bitccoin mining becomes unprofitable there is going to be a HUGE amount of idle GPU's

  • Any ideia how to autopause gpu folding when using the computer and unpause it when the computer goes idle?

Tell me how to do it and i'll join your team :]

  • @rick62008 .... there is no auto-pause that I am aware of. I simply turn off the program on the taskbar when I want to game or whatever. Then restart it when I'm done. It would be a cool idea but have yet to see any such option for folding.

  • how does it work? like you just dont game and than you can start the program and what then?

  • @gamer1337omg

Hook that thing up for folding! That would be a power house for the cure!

  • Does this require a good internet connection? Because where I live (an island in the Caribbean) 2mb download (which is what I have) is considered fast lol. not very fast anywhere else.

  • @HDaviator

    No... not at all.

It uses the web for about 20 seconds every 24 hours. That's all.

  • @Foldingteam60148 i reported this crap to Avira Decection Analyze so every 1 that have avira willl get protected

  • @mrbest20

    Please stop using drugs.

The underground UFO government thing is just weird and it scares people a bit.

There are some Justin Bieber videos that could use some commentary, so I recommend you go there.

Have a good day little guy.

  • got my amd phenom 810 x4 and gtx 460 24/7. just joined the team!

  • Awesome man. Great subject, and a well made video. Hope to see more of them.

  • Yes David Suzuki WILL find out and report to the Canadian authority! LOL! That guy is crazy smart and should get his resources into folding! We'd find the cure for cancer in a week :)

A gtx580 gets between 17,000 and 24,000 PPD. That is an awesome research gpu no matter how you clock it! I hear it actually nets more than 2 gtx460s. Unreal!

If you have any questions about the team or the Folding@home project feel free to contact me via email at Team60148@hotmail

  • @Foldingteam60148 I'm using a GTX570 to fold right now. So far it's been working on "Alzheimer's DI" and it takes less than 2 hours to finish it. Performance says 1218ns/day.

I used to use my processor this sort of thing and it could go on at least a day... maybe two before it would finish one fold. Now it's doing several folds a day (1 fold every two hours). I'd say it's a monster card for folding, if you're looking for an upgrade. I can only imagine what it would do in SLI!

  • @ 3:37

maybe be true, might not be, but this I know... if you do fold 24/7 David Suzuki WILL find you and HE WILL GET YOU!!! :P lol

Anyone know how many points per day a gtx 580 gets?

I think I might join your team

  • Folding@home. The ultimate in good karma.

I'm joining the team, and I'm going 24/7 with my gtx 275. :)

  • @Aidsus

    WOW ! That's great man!

I saw your numbers on the team stats already and you are really doing a lot of research with that GPU!

Please see your inbox for info about our forums... hope to see ya there!

  • Might have to PM Maxishine about this with the amount of Hardware he has and i'm sure that will put his 480's to good use :D

as for me i'm going to read up more about this and i might even end up getting another 5770 in my rig for it.

    Keep it up :D

  • weres the cure?...folding has been happening for 5-6 years now...sorry but i dont trust stanford..this isnt about cancer...my father died of cancer..and i dont Believe the hype

  • @fu3ar25

sorry to hear you lost your Dad...

It is frustrating for everyone affected by these diseases... But the research is already paying off in more specific research and many more studies to come.

It's not easy ... but remember that the skeptics said we could never unlock human DNA with this type of research and we DID.

Bioinformatics has been around for a while and it does work in all types of biology research.

I'm folding everyday with the hope we will see a cure. Till then, I fold.

  • @fu3ar25 many types of cancer have been cured, survival have got a lot better. but to cure all types of cancer is like saying cure all types of infection. its gonna take time. it helping.

  • @fu3ar25 Cancer is a tough cookie to crack. So are all the other diseases the Folding@home project is working on. Just keep in mind that the research we do on our computers while we sit around surfing facebook has accelerated the process greatly. It may seem like nothing is happening, but massive amounts of data is being crunched daily. It's only a matter of time before better treatment, and even a viable cure, is found.

I'm sorry about your dad. I can't even begin to imagine how that must feel

  • can somebody tell me what the hell this is???? whats the point what does it do??

  • Update:

The team has now completed over 100 000 work units!

  • wow! the ending was shocking! this vid just motivates me to continue folding

  • I really hope the people who code F&H decide to support the ATI 5xxx series so I can get back in to folding =( . Keep doing what you guys are doing!

  • Well, to clarify that I mean to fold more than this 800 iter/sec =) Can't wait for them to pick up the new ATI cards to fully unleash the power these things have.

  • Hey Team60148,

BTW the team is really kicking some butt and is currently climbing the ranks and overtaking teams like crazy.

    Fold on!

  • Glad to have ya on the team MidwinterSon! You're a super contributor.

It is a personal effort for all of us.

Your Grandpa has a cool grandson.

  • R.I.P kracker

  • HI KITTY!!!

    xD

  • how does this work

  • It processes complex math for protien folding. Basically, it's research for the scientific community via Stanford University.

You can use your PS3 or most computer GPU and or CPU processors. Please email me at the website for any questions you may have for setting up your specific machine.

  • Great Video, i will support your team !

  • Hope to see ya on the team BlackFly! That would be awesome... we are always looking for dedicated folders and we'd love to have ya on the 60148!

  • Hey blackfly - I see you've joined the team! Great to have you, very cool. Any questions, let us know. Drop us an email and we'll get you setup on our forums site as well. Good group of folks - look forward to seeing you around. Bytor36

  • thats one heck of a computer.

I've been pointed towards this vid by my pal gideon. Kudos from Team 54412

  • Thanx man! Cool to hear from another great team! You guys have some real dedication and I recall seeing your team many times on the stats. Keep up the great work!

Thanks again for your kind words.... YYZ

  • We actually are testing out a sweet triple card folding PC today (3 x Gtx260 Superclockers ). So far it is running nice and cool. Could be seeing 24,000 points per day on that machine, I hope.

  • Kudos back at ya, bro. We busted our tails to catch you guys not too long ago. Dang - you've had a lot of members (500+ wow). You have a great site and really wish I had some PS3-centric content like that on our site. I'm a huge fan of the PS3, media to gaming, you name it. Anyway - good work you guys - take care. Bytor36

  • sup bytor its horacefan im grounded from my ps3 [ my mom sucks] just wanted to say hi

  • I have a ps3 and i tried joining your team by typing the number and everything, is that all i have to do?

  • Hi Fend... FOLDING is an awesome charity and we appreciate your willingness to participate!

Yes, typing in the folding team number (60148) and typing in your gaming name is all you have to do.

It is a confusing set-up on the PS3 format unfortunately. However, if you need any help at all... send a friend's request to "Y_Y_Z" and I will help you anytime.

  • Hi Fend, I see you've joined us - great to have you. I did notice that you've stopped *as of today it appears no WU's for a day or so - - not sure you ran into a problem, just let us know if we can help.

Note: keep the PS3 folding as much as possible, its actually better to keep it running than to turn off and on all the time. I periodically shut my PS3 down and quickly restart if I've folded for a few days and want to play a game - seems to freshen it up. Good to have you! Bytor36

  • Thanks its nice to help out, i will stay on for longer periods from now on for sure.

  • I should've folded back when I had two 9800 GX2's in my rig. Oh well.

  • Hey Aaronmonto - anything contribution to folding is appreciated - heck, I've been folding on my PS3 for years, I'm getting stomped by YY now, but oh well. Anyway - hope to see join us - Bytor36

  • Welcome to PC folding! You're gonna love it!

  • Hey good to have you on the team! If you have any questions about the gpu client install, please ask.

  • Awesome video!!!

    Team 60148 folds for life!

Sadly to say, most of these diseases are hereditary and sooner or later, regardless if we lived a healthy lifestyle or not, we just may succumb to them. Therefore, we are not just folding for our loved ones, but ourselves and our children as well.

Team 60148 folding for the world today and tomorrow!

    Fold On!!

  • Amazing guys! You've made a fantastic video that stands as a strong explanation and motivator for people to get into folding. If I can do anything at all to help with your efforts to push into GPU folding all you have to do is ask.

  • Atlas, your kudos mean everything. You've really gone out and set the bar - you're a class act. While we carry pride in our teams and the numbers we're putting up, the spirit remains its simply people trying to help people with whatever resource they have. The greatest part of this all is the faith I'm finding in perfect strangers - a collective good we pray benefits people like your father and mine. The more "we" do, the less about "us" it becomes. Proud to be in the trenches with you, sir.
