In a Matrifocal society there is a dual currency system. Two types of money circulate. One is the Patriarchal Currency, that is used as a medium of exchange for things like long distance trade, (i.e. people you are indifferent to). Then there is another currency, that is used locally for exchanges. This "local currency" is created in sufficiency, NOT scarcity. A dual currency system gave these societies economic stability for centuries, and general well being for the "little people"!
