i think that at 0:58 and then this part needs to be a bit lower because in my opinion this part is atmosphairic and so, more attention. for me always ;-) but this is a great performance! actually when i want to listen to this song in youtube(now that i don't have a piano in my house) i put this one. it fits better in my performance of that song and thus i like it better than the other ones!
@pennehk I don't think it's too much at all, although it's a lot different than the way I play it. But I like your way, too- you change it up and it sounds really nice. ^-^
I really like the tempo. I've just started on this, and I'm still trying to work out how to play the quick L.H. octaves at 0:25 atm. You make it look so easy!
This is a very difficult work to play well (the fingering isn't that hard, the dynamics and interpretation are another matter).
I love the way she handles the tempo of the work. So many pianists play this too fast (in my opinion), while others play it at the same exact speed throughout. She balanced the left and right hand dynamics very well, although the right seemed to get a bit strong towards the end. Overall, this is one of the better performances on YouTube.
nice!... but in my opinion, a more evident rubato and a bit faster tempo would describe more accurately a molto passionato tempo, ma non troppo (if you speed it up just a few more beats per second, let's say, five or so, it would be perfect, non troppo, ma molto appassionato!)
but the overall sonority is outstanding, congrats!!
Excellent, you give it the poetry it should have. It is not a march, it is a song. At 4:40, consider using the 4th finger for the E flat, makes better legato.
I LOVE your tempo! I don't think it is too slow at all. It allows for the beautiful flow of the lines. I like that you played with such lyricism, connecting with legato to bring out the sweep and motion of the rise and fall of the melodic lines. This goes into my favorites, and I forwarded it to one of my students who has started to study this piece. Thanks for posting it!
Thank yuo for watching it & your comment. Oh, you are studying it now, so I would like to liseten/watch yours one day, please. Yes, maybe mine is a bit slow I think.
Pure art and talent, please keep up the good work your interpretation of this piece stands out among all the others..i lack of better words....this is just simply marvelous
Thank you for your comment. If you like it, I am also pleased. Brahms composed many great, wonderful pieces, but I don't know half of them. If I have more time, I want to study more. Thank you.
This Rhapsody is also one of my favourite pieces of Brahms. I am really fascinated about your playing. You clearly distinguish the different characters of the themes and have a wonderful feeling for the special Brahmsian deepness and gravity of the pianissimo-parts as well as the force for the octave passages. Bravo!
Thank you so much...It was so small hall, but when I play on the stage, there will be some monster, He suddenly appears in my mind, so I have to ignore or fight with him, it means to get tense.

@meganbear141 Thank you for your comment.
I am sorry to reply too late.
About my rubato on this performance, maybe too much ?
This performance about 6 years ago, so maybe my playing is changing, probably.
Anyway, thanks again.

Thank you for your comment.
Oh, you practice this one! Good! I look forward to see your performance!
About quick L.H., just practice slowly day and day,
play one action in two notes.
Then your arm remember the action.
Good Luck!

I'm working on this one. The LH that Kolaguy was talking about at 1:03 is where the melody line is and its supposed to come out more in that passage.
Very good. I like the attention that you give to the dynamics.
dmcII 2 years ago
sure you can criticize what you cant play. or do you think all the piano critics can play all those pieces they criticize? ;)
obstfredi 2 years ago
I thought at 1:03 that the left hand was a bit too loud --but hey, you can't criticize what you can't play...
Nice interpretation.

Do you really have to speed up the part with the stacatos so much? Keep it down a little more and it will sound nicer, I think.

I like it when they play that section faster, with the octaves, I think it gives more color to the piece.
pianojake94 3 years ago
you should start faster at the beginning

So I sometimes lost my own way. This time too.
Anyway, I love these 2 rhapsodies by Brahms.
I am so glad of your comments.
