JUST TO CLARIFY FROM THE BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE- Satan *is* a fallen angel, there were two sets of fallen angels, those who fell for conspiring with Lucifer (satan) to overthrow God and establish a new throne, and those who fell for "coming into the daughters of man" when they came down to teach men righteousness. Demons are the spirits of their children, lesser spirits but still greater in power than man because of fallen angel blood mingled with human. Those are the ones cursed to roam earth.

The Bible and the Book of Enoch speak of these things too, but the direction in which they take it goes towards there being a God.
