UPDATE: Event though the JSX was out of warranty Roger Crimm of Peavey rebuilt the head and it works better than a new one. I had some problems with distortion on the clean channel and sometimes a loss of power. Roger found a faulty power transformer and filter caps. Never charged me a penny and even paid all the shipping charges.
I't true that I am currently using a Marshall stack but it only cost me 350 dollars (long story). this one is just too rare to haul in and out of clubs.
Yes, this is the pole barn. You sound great Rich. You do a wonderful job and I am proud of all you have accomplished in such a short time. Your Tone and timing are perfect man.
Hey thanks for the comps! I have another video on here that has me playing a 50th anniversary Strat through it. Its a lot blues'ier sounding. I I have a PRS that I tried for a while but I didnt really care for the sound. It has the stock tubes. I think they are the 6L6 JJ Tesla but I dont remember for sure. I will check for you tonight and post it here.
Dude, I've tried the JSX with several guitars but it just doesn't combine with my Richie Kotzen Stratocaster. Which tubes do you use in the JSX? Somebody told me it could've been the tubes...
Im not sure what you mean. I have a Keeley COMPRESSOR and a Wampler PINNACLE II Distortion but the distortion in the video is the natural amp's distortion and not from a pedal.
I have never used the combo but I heard they were pretty cool Just probably not as beefy since its 2 speakers and a smaller cab.
Peavey built two of these with the "shiney red light". I have one and Joe Satriani has the other. I called the Peavey customer/artist relations people and they said only these two were made.
This amp does have the bias switch. The tubes are EL34s. The speakers are custom designed just for the JSX. Believe it or not they are Chrome! and they very closely resemble Clestion Greenbacks in look and sound (cept for all the Chrome).
Ca some one please tell me the difference between EL34, and 6L6 tubes? i have a JSX, but want a more scooped type f modrn metal sound, i reed alot of places that it helps with 6L6, someone? Thanks.
I totally agree. Satriani is not really a metal guitarist. He has much better natural tones and plays a lot more traditional classic rock mixed in with his blazing stuff. This amp is designed wit that style in mind.
Hey Mark, are you concerned at all about True Bypass, being that you use quite a few pedals? And is there a big differance in the tone if not? Just curious.
All the pedals are true bypass (to the best of my knowledge) with the exception of the Boss gigadelay. Personally, I think there is a big difference, especialy when using single coil pickups. Just my humble opinion for what its worth.
Thanks Mark, I have been planning on getting the JSX for awhile and was concerned about true bypass. I have been looking at various delay pedals with true bypass, but like everything out there you don't know how it sounds until you hear it. I know you like the boss giga delay, but have you tried any others.
Hey Mark, I'm a big fan of the JSX amp series. What kind of pickups are you using in your Strat. The reason I'm asking is because I don't here alot of 60 cycle hum.
hey mark is this out in your barn? if so, are you worried about the humidity and temperature changes and rain messing with all of your gear? i thought about moving my stuff (except for the guitar) out in my garage here in central ohio, takes up too much space in my room. you think i should?
Well, I dont really leave it out there all the time. Its stored in a trailer with all the other band gear but I load my stuff last and now and then between gigs I set it up in there and rehearse. Its far easier than trying to load it into the house/basement. Ohio is a lot like Missouri weather. I really dont think it will hurt anything. I have had my stuff carried in a trailer that gets pretty hot in summer and darn cold in winter and it has never hurt any of it that I can tell.
Hey hows it going??? i just got my JSX head and cab since you have it the 2 fat switch's on it if you flick them up does the light change colour? mine doesnt and im not sure if its working or not, also the foot pedal control im not sure if its working rite or not but if you could kindly take the time and explain a breaf little diddy on it that will rock!! thanks alot
he is right. im not sure if maybe you need the control pedal connected though. my head is in the shop getting new tubes. will post something when she gets back. i got new tube free cause this was at the chicago NAMM show and they played the hell outta it.
pros, clean channel is great, the distortion channels love single coil pickups, especially the neck pickup. cons, cant get that Stevie ray tone with your strat anymore and its heavy as hell.
Awesome man! I hope you can put some clips of it on Youtube so I can check it out! I had a bit of trouble with mine this weekend. Started cutting out and the clean channel started clipping and distortion. Thought it was tubes but turned out to be a speaker cable (I think). Working fine now!
ive been woundering if i should trade some guitars in to pick this up!! im thinking my Yngwie malmsteen and some cash for it is it really worth it?? it sounded nice in your video..
Check Ebay. I see some JSX heads on there a lot and some have sold for as little as 630 dollars! I have gone in circles about how I felt about this amp but all in all i love it. Like all things there are some things it does better than others but basicly IT ROCKS! The clean channel is very nice. If you were to buy a new reissue Marshall JCM800 (they call it the holy grail of rock amps)it would cost 2038 dollars just for the head and you would still need a distortion pedal.
good stuff man thanks alot for getting back to me man!! im a satriani fan have Js1200ca and the 1000bp and as soon as the amp came about i wanted it but everytime i had the money stuff came up so im getting soon for sure man thanks alot!! have a good one..
thanks again for your time man!!!! im ordering my Jsx head and slant cab tomorrow the head is at the store they need to order the cab will be like 2 weeks shipping to canada CANT WAIT!!! thanks
hey sounded very nice, but hey i was jsut wondering how u liked this amp, ive been looking for amps and i tihnk this is the one i want but before i go out and spend about 2 grand, i thought id get some opinions of it. so would u recomend it?
I tried out about 14 amps before I settled on this one. I tried the Marshall JCM800, thw DSL and TSL. Also the Marshall Vintage Modern (hated it) and the Marshall JVM410. Also two different Soldano heads with Mesa and Marshall cabs and some of the reissue plexis as well as the Jimi Hendrix 6000 dollars stack. Also, tried some of the Mesa Boogie stuff. I kept coming back to this amp time and again. I used this for the first time last night with my band and it was awesome.
are you selling this on craigslist now? i saw someone selling this from st louis

If you didn't know, in a jsx you can switch from el34 to 6l6gc. But if u want a metal sound i would go with a mesa boogie rectafier

They are the Samarian Cobalt ones with the S1 switching system. Its quieter than my PRS and still sounds like a Strat!
