  • STEVE EARLE TAMBIEN SUENA EN MEXICO!!!!

  • Love this song,it rocks,Thanks Steve

  • Back in about 1996 (possibly 97), I saw Steve Earle play at The Mean Fiddler in Harlesden (London). I hung around in the bar after the gig. As I was leaving, Steve Earle left via the side alley.... on his own. We walked up Harlesden High Street together, had a chat and a cigarette and he signed a cd for me. We then went our separate ways. I said to him "Well make sure you come back to London again" to which he replied "Oh I'll be back. How else am I gonna pay the bills". Great memory

  • For those who didn't know... "Guitar Town" is truck driver slang for "Nashville"... I am DAMN proud to be a Tennessean!

  • if you don't like the ads, just get ad blocker addon for firefox. can't remember the last time i saw an ad on vevo. btw id rather vevo then nothing. copyright's a bitch, vevo and ad blocker are the answer.

  • Pinko!

  • love that twangin Duane Eddy-style guitar!

  • Not many non spiritual people have Great songs

    though this is an exception.

  • @iancanoe1

Not sure it is correct to say Steve Earle is "non-spiritual" - it is certainly not true now (look at songs like Ashes to Ashes, Jerusalem, Transcendental Blues or his current album). But even at this stage, I think there was a spiritual side to his songs, even if he was dampening that with drugs. (Close Your Eyes, Have Mercy, My Old Friend the Blues have those elements, I think, as do many of his songs about the road. Even this has elements of searching and hope.)

  • love to see more of Steve Eaarle - he dones some great ballads as well as the more coomercial stuff

  • On the radio they changed jap guitar to cheap guitar. Censorship!

  • @wavygr gotta be politically correct so some sensitive fag doesnt get offended!!!!!!

  • cool shit man

  • Today's country has mostly turned to crap. Most of today's CMT types can't hold this guys boots. What a great and unpretentious talent Steve Earle is.

  • Damn this is what country today needs to sound like. not this rock blend shit sung with a bad accent.....garbage

  • @HardcoreJesus100 Dude, I agree 100% but to be honest that's what they said back when this song was released. I don't like it either but trends continue to change. Not trying to be a butt hole here, just saying......

  • @theboneclover sometimes honesty dosent make friends...still, truth is truth bro. Glad you feel the same way

  • @HardcoreJesus100 check Hank Williams the third.... If you can get past the subject matter you'll fall in love with the sound

  • @bmgleaso dude, hank 3 sucks

  • @HardcoreJesus100 this.is.a.rock.blend.actually....todays.has.a.pop.blend

  • @dirtycavemen Dude fuck off... you call it whatever you want. you cant compare it to the awful shit on tv or the radio these days. Country music and its respective artists are a dying breed.

  • This good ole song needs to be played ove and over with the volume cranked to the max!!

    Gotta love the 80's.

  • Btw, nothing wrong with thos old Steinberger guitars either!

  • Probably the best, most relevant country singer going around!

  • Do us all a favour...scrap the fucking ads ! What bullshit

  • @BreathDoctor adblock plus, download it!

  • @BreathDoctor without ads there would be no income, so no-one would fix any issues cuz that takes time, and time costs money, ads keep youtube free for the watcher, long live the ads!

  • @BreathDoctor Your language is worse. You kiss your Mother with that mouth. Grow up.

  • @BreathDoctor Yes we are full ads that have no meaning, mindless key strokes, to fool who..us?..not likely!!!

  • @BreathDoctor Get ad blocking software.

  • @BreathDoctor I know what you mean... I have been more tolerant of the ads than others have but this Grey Goose ad has got to go!

  • @BreathDoctor its the morons that hang their ads on everyone else stuff////...seems like there is no getting away from them.

  • @BreathDoctor AdBlock Plus. There go the ads. Say "Bye" to them. "Bye ads!"

  • @BreathDoctor Do us a favor and use cleaner language. You don't talk that way around your Mother.

  • @ultrabrougham Hey Wanker.....do US a favour....get busy and post some of your OWN videos, poser.

  • @BreathDoctor Guess you do talk like tthat your Mother. Pity.

  • @BreathDoctor get ad blocker, it's free and takes 5 minutes to install.

  • @BreathDoctor it's keepin' the videos and music free tho. i'm willin' to wait a minute or less to hear this stuff

  • That would limit confusion. Mr. Mikeschutt

  • i wish they would make you post a reason why if you dislike a song.

  • bad to the bone!!!!hot as a firecracker!!great, great, great country singer!!!

  • this song is on repeat. i just wanna cruise out with my sweetheart listening to it on the radio

  • its suppose to be two can habbit and a motel tan

  • @chevy454dually

It is clearly "two-pack" habit, both in what he is singing and according to the album, which has liner notes with the lyrics written out.

  • kinda makes me wish i was in the south running moonshine in a big 60's mustang with a pretty lady next to me!

  • where ya at dale ?

  • Bucky Baxter

  • guitar player played with Dire Straits live from London show (think it was called that)

  • Can I fuck your whore ladies?

  • The only advertisements that should be allowed, are the ones that pop up during the video that you can easily click to get rid of.

  • ive never seen him live but hes the baddest outlaw country singer their is hardcore fan from sask canada

  • I remember, everyday, i would listen to this song, on a cassette tape, now i am 10 years older

  • looking for the version of the song on video with steve earle and roseann cash, can anyone direct me to it?

  • @unclaimed430days

I know the video, but I think it was taken down for copyright reasons by the TV show it appeared on. I have seen their version of "Seven Year Ache" on another video channel, but not "Guitar Town." Sorry!

  • @nilradem thanks, i think i saw it on cmt, thought it was good

  • saw Steve two years ago.

  • @TheHighwayRider

Too bad you didn't catch him on tour this summer - he is back with a full band, and it was amazing, although I enjoyed the Townes tour as well.

  • saw steve in my home town cpl months ago ( sydney nova scotia ) they rock always liked steve earl

  • "You can't get far on $37 and a Jap guitar" another great line from this song..

  • @PXDAO except on some versions they've watered it down to say cheap instead of Jap, Damn PC police...

  • Wish steve would've ask me just one time to go to guitar town hell, i'd been loaded up and waiting before he could even think about taking a piss......

  • This song is fucking awesome, and Steve Earle is a badass. Thanks Dad

  • Do you think steve discovered crack in guitar town???

  • @2003fordmustang281

According to his biography, though he had been doing heroin and coke off and on for years, he really didn't get into doing crack until the late 80s when he was living n LA for a couple years where his wife worked for MCA. Apparently once he really started making it, he had enough money for better quality dope, and it was more available in LA, so his habit got to the point he needed crack along with the dope to get high. That is when it really got out of control.

  • Steveo was one sexy dude. Have always loved this song and also Copperhead Road.

  • I heard someone calling my name one day and I followed that voice down a lost highway! True story.

  • Monkeys all die bogedy bogety

  • 20 people are gay

  • @cavX2 C'mon, dude. Being gay has nothing to do with disliking this video.

  • Video filmed in 1986 in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh before a show at the now gone Syria Mosque.

  • Long live Steve Earle.

  • 20 people didn't think Steve would get far with a Motel tan either.

  • I like it!

  • Steve ia a cool dude. I do not much like country music, but keep playing this song over and over. Guitar Town is one of the greatest song's ever.

  • Steve will be at Hardly, Strictly this weekend. Free shows in the Park, a couple of ticketed shows at Great American Music Hall, I think. Or Slim's.

  • Loved Steve from way back still do, and will always respect him and his music.....

  • thumbs up if i'm loadin up and rollin outta here tonite

  • Certainly nothing like Copperhead road!! Hmm 1:30 is enough for me!!

  • This is a great chaser with any fine whiskey.

  • @millicentbistander hell yeah brother!!!!

  • He went a long way on $37 and a Jap guitar and then lost it all to a cocaine addiction and was on foot when he left Nashville. The good news is he has risen above it and is clean and doing well now.

  • I 'm pretty sure he got a long ways on 37 dollars and a jap guitar. Great little tune.:)

  • For Nedley....

  • 3.5 million miles under my belt.Take my word for it this is one of the best songs!!

  • 1988 I just changed from rock & roll to country music this song helped me make the transition along with Reba's "whoever's in New England" Randy Travis' "diggin up bones" and "ole violin'" "abadaba doo"

  • The song has balance! Clearly to me, his best work..The beat interval is a preference in alot of the songs I like.

  • the best song that has ever been or will be created. anywhere.

  • @NP535overdrive

Love the song - but best ever? I think Steve has written better... "Goodbye" would likely be my choice of his best.

  • @NP535overdrive Definitely ONE of the best.

  • Just a few more dislikes then the dislike bar looks like a joint, then we all can sit and really enjoy this insane beautiful song :D

  • what a musician this guy could still put 'em out like this and make them a success

  • People need to keep hating on VEVO so, maybe, it will go away forever.

  • Comment removed

  • "Got a two-pack habit and a motel tan" has to be one of the greatest lines ever written!

  • @dhpettit , my favorite is "37 dollars and a jap guitar"

  • jam that shit thats real country music not that gay ass jason aldean shit!

  • The 19 dislikes didn't make it past the ads

  • Its a crime that they advertise lady gaga on this.

  • @NinjaOfFear heard that!

  • @NinjaOfFear Amen brother.

  • @NinjaOfFear It's downright unnatural.

  • very cool, & copperhead road, ohh yaa!!

  • i just love Steve here!!

  • What an epic tune! This song turned a lot of people on to country music back in the 80's. Steve is an awesome talent...

  • Crank it up! Nothing sounds better!

  • he is one of those good ole boys i hated at the beginnings and then he grew on me and he is the shit and a great dude woooooo hooooo

  • this is REAL country music a-holes!!!!!!!

  • A large amount of negative thumbs are from it being faggy Vevo having it. Including mine, I love his music but hate the monopoly known as vevo

  • i love this line "love to hear the steelbelts hummin on the asphalt"

  • Sends chills...so cool....Going out to get some CD's. There style is great

  • "Got a two pack habit and a motel tan" what a great line!

  • "Got a two pack habit an a motel tan"....what a line. You might not understand this if you haven't been on the road playing one nighters. I cost Steve four (maybe five) wives. It has only cost me two...so far.

  • Music of the way

    /watch?v=EI8ns_aBtzM

  • veitnam veterans protest

  • A classic!

Awesome playing. My friend who plays the guitar showed me this video. He has videos here on YouTube as well but they're not as good to be honest. Well, his latest video might actually be. :P

Please don't tell him that I said that if you visit his channel. :P

Perhaps you were trying to make a joke... but the lyric is "and a rocking little combo from Guitar Town."

  • Comment removed

  • @ChuckieInMT That's "... with a rockin' little combo from the Guitar Town..."

  • Damn I love listening to Steve Earle. Reminds me of back in the day when I was a teenager me and my buddy John riding around on Fri. and Sat. nights drinking Jim Beam getting a buzz before we went and picked up a couple of chicks and all 4 of us would pile up in his regular cab truck and go spotlighting deer in Hayden, Alabama. Im 34yrs old now and I still love it every now and then, but I love listening to Steve Earle all the time.

  • Wher is is his music on the radio? Maybe he doesn't pay the DJ's enought to play it. theres nothing like singing this song on the way home from work. But we get Jason aldean and taylor swift out the ass. what a crime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
