one problem with harsens island is people skybusting. the zones are moderatly close and you could be working a duck and it could be on its 3rd 4th pass coming into you zone on the outside corner and the fuckers from the zone next to you will fucking shoot at it for the hell of it. bring them in close damnit! their is a refuge... plenty of ducks to go around. on some days that place is absolutly flooded with ducks.

what do u mean a tag or band and a band means it was banded at a refuge and if u call ur wildlife service u get a reward for example i would call department of fish and wildlife and give them the number on the band and they send u a reward in the mail

@Tmh2d4 a little harsh but your right she does need to tuck the the gun in tighter but the gun doesnt fit her which doesnt help the stock is to long especilally as she has a thick coat on, she calls well, she keeps well hid but most importantly she is safe with the gun and keeps it pointing in a safe dirrection. im sure she will make a fine wildfowler in years to come when she grows into here pumo action which by the way isnt a easy gun to shoot

I'm 35 and I've grown hunting in Eastern Arkansas. I've literally been in on thousands of ducks killed. I've never even been in the blind when a Jack Minor banded duck was killed. The way I understand it, Jack's dead now but his son has continued the tradition of banding ducks (and geese) on their family farm in Canada. He was not, nor is his son, affilliated with US Game and Fish of it's Canadian counterpart. There's a bible verse on every band. My dad has two. Very cool. Right on girl!

I LOVE hunting at Harsen's with my dad (Been doing it with him for 10+ years). It's hard to get in the top 25 in the draw though (I've been picked dead last on a single day for a.m. and p.m). Good to see youth involved. Isn't the "Youth" hunt for "Youths"??? They are the ones that are only allowed to shoot. They are shooting fairly high too. I know the excitement is one thing but you want to teach the youth to hunt "correctly" so that everyone in that day has an equal opportunity! God Bless!

@drummingdave817 Yes....If you killed your bird....and there are more birds to pick up on....You should not see your bird die....you shoot where you think that bird will be killed. you might do it differently than we do it up here but it's all good...i'm not disrespecting your opinion. I just never see my birds die...but i also only take 1 shot to kill 1 bird.

@TurkeyDay6 i don't see a whole lot of my birds die but when i shoot a single i see them die... but on a big flock i'll unload the gun as long as their all in range... i shoot a benelli Super Black Eagle 2 and love it... so ok let me rephrase it... a good hunter can see a single die but in the rush of a giant flock you won't

@drummingdave817 I also run a SBE2... Love it so much! My first hunt i was using my older brothers SBE2...dropped my limit and a banded mallard. it was 3 drake woods, 1 drake black, and 2 drake mallards, and crip goose from earlier in the september season (Wanted to put her out of her missery).

lol if you accidentaly shoot your dog as rabbit then you really should start thinking what went wrong :P if pellets are 3,5mm it's just good for shooting rabbit's and it doesn't "waste" any meat. You said you have been hunting for 6 years and now you are 16, that's good start laddy :)
all the hunters these days are quite old and young hunters are pretty rare.

I LOVE hunting at Harsen's with my dad (Been doing it with him for 10+ years). It's hard to get in the top 25 in the draw though (I've been picked dead last on a single day for a.m. and p.m). Good to see youth involved. Isn't the "Youth" hunt for "Youths"??? They are the ones that are only allowed to shoot. They are shooting fairly high too. I know the excitement is one thing but you want to teach the youth to hunt "correctly" so that everyone in that day has an equal opportunity! God Bless!

half automatic is best for ducks. double barrel is best for rabbits
pump-action is average for both, but i still recommend to not use pump-actions

here's explanation:
half automatic is best for ducks because:
-there is very often many targets to shoot.
-when shooting gooses it's good to shoot 3 times.
douple barrel is good for rabbits because:
-you can shoot second shot very fast after first (that's the most important thing in rabbit hunting I think)
I've been hunting myself too so don't you just think that I don't know anything about hunting

its called semi auto... not half automatic and its not gooses its geese... and sumtimes its better to use pump so u dont shoot 3 shells faster than u can aim.. and i prefer a semi auto 22. for rabbit huntin no point for a shotgun ruin all the meat.. so honestly i think u no nothin about hunting

@redsneckboy I have shot many rabbits with my 12/76 Baikal, and there's nothing wrong with the meat after that. How far did you shoot that rabbit? if you shot less than 7m then it's no surprise if it's in many pieces :p
