The Vector puts out a ton more light than the YAO....does not show up in pictures. Go to Google and search on "l35 barn burner oracle stollman". There are some additional beam shots that better represent some of the lights I have.
great job...that homebuilt vector conversion ya did is awesome...i wish the yao was available for sale in the u.s. though...not only it seems brighter than your barn burner, it has 2 modes AND longer burn times...
since the polarion is waaay out of my financial means, i'd buy the yao as my bargain light cannon...though it still probably would retail at half the price of ph-40...
I commented on an earlier video you made. OK YOU WIN! Anyway, I also have a few l.e.d. flashlight demos on my channel. It's stuff I got from DealExtreme Check it out!
Well, in my quest to find out what HID lights throw the best, this has to be one of the best "throw" comparisons I've seen (as well as one of the more entertaining). I was leanign towards the L35, and, based on this video (as well as others I've viewed) it seems like a pretty good buy for the money. Do you have any input on the Wolfeyes series of HID's? I'm not a huge fan of their Kelvin temps, but, they seem to be a fairly compact HID.
I actually got my two 100w kits from hongkong. I sent them to an expert when it comes to measure lightoutput. He determined the output of one bulb at 8850 lumen. At this point the ballast had a total consumption of 109 watts. That makes an total effective lightoutput of 81lumen per watt. I am really amazed by that result!
My build thread for the Vector Twin HID is on candlepowerforums. You can search on Vector 192 and look for "stollman" as the author.
The Vector 192 is no longer manufactured. I found mine on Ebay. They pop up every once in awhile. Also, the 100W, 12V Ballast HID Kits also appear on Ebay every so often.
Did you use the *exact* same exposure settings (shutter speed, ISO, f/stop, lens) for all the still images so as to keep your results consistent? I'd hate to think the camera compensated one way or the other. Great video, I love the BFL, what a monster!
Awesome vid, thanks! That Vector 192 BFL is insane lol :) How much do the lights weigh? Are they Lithium powered? I think bout memory effect as they will prolly need to be recharged quite often, the runtime isnt very long?

From what I can find, the Vector 192 is not HID correct. I guess you modify and convert it to HID?

@midrange18
The Vector 192 is a Halogen light that I converted into a HID
mwstoll 6 months ago
@mwstoll thanks.. I ws searchign for a HID Vector.. and couldn't find it. so this explains why. in yoru vid you never mentioned you converted.
What HID kit did you convert it with. Watts and lumen?

Its good to know that I'm not the only "flashlight fanatic" out there...I must say, the vector 192 has to be the king of all flashlights.

Kept the same camera settings to be consistent.
BFL is great but big. I found out they are selling the 100W ballast and bulb I used for this light on Ebay now. I had to purchase mine from overseas.

@MrGatoMan1
Yes, I zoomed in with the camera so you could see better detail.
