We celebrated the Philippines Independence every July 4th, the same here in America until 1960. When President Diosdado Macapagal become President in 1961 he change it to June 12 because our Independence actually is June 12. Thanks DM.

among all asian countries the Philippines has the most neutralized accent,,..a large percentage of the population can fluently speak in english,,,,we can also mimic different accents with ease to the point that you cannot tell the difference over the phone...i am glad that we have such skill cause it was utilized to our advantage....

I would love to hear her sing "Ang Bayan kung Pilipinas"....the same song Lea Salonga sang as a tribute to C. Aquino's funeral. In my opinion, that song is more suitable as the Philippines' national anthem!

what's weird is that filipino fobs (who are good at singing) sing english songs with fluent english and they are phenomenal... i think they are the only asians who can do it naturally....

@julishatreslynn It's because Tagalog (the main Filipino language) has its roots in Spanish, and the Philippines was actually an American territory for two years during WWII, so its not unheard of to hear a Filipino person speaking perfect English.

@julishatreslynn - blame it on commodore later admiral george dewey who invaded the manila bay in 1898 and as consequence of defeating spain; the U.S. took over many of the spanish-occupied islands i.e. the philippine islands. the U.S. taught the filipinos how to speak english. so one hundred years of american-english is not bad eh?
