We installed a 1200 Hp version on a water pump.....insanely easy.
This allows installing a gear box to make use of a turbine's speed.
Also...back in the day, I used Gast Air Motors under steam pressure with great success.
Vane pumps. They will work just fine at 100 Lbs steam. Low speed too! You can't shut them off and leave them sit. I filled mine with lube when I knew they would sit.
I would like to make a steam turbine for my home. I am a Masters student in Chemical Engineering with a good understanding of mechanical things. Could you please post instructions on how to build this and materials needed? Thank you.
@brownplayboy310 Making conventional turbines is an extremely specialized process. You might want to try using an automotive turbine instead, or you could try building a Tesla turbine, which is claimed to have a very high efficiency, but as far as I know it hasn't been proved in an actual power generating application.
Make a condenser for this system and pull a vacuum. You could then reuse the condensate. You will save money on the pure water that you should be using in this system. A condenser will also boost the efficiency considerably. The vacuum would be easy to maintain. Just put some steam on the seals, get a steam jet venture, and have a good heat sink.
Given the amount of heat being put in the system you could theoretically generate about 8kW of electricity. The idea is to generate all the power for the house(net metered for year round) while heating it. This prototype is crude and had lots of issues but was a good learning rig to make a better one which is under way. The goal is to substitute wood gas shown in the other videos for propane.
Forgive me, but what are you making? You use electricity to run the burner, and I can't imagine you are generating more than you use. You are burning propane, and that isn't a cheap fuel, and could heat the house directly. So where is the bonus energy?
Your turbine looks more like a pelton wheel which is okay turbines are High $ low efficiency on a small scale. I have a patent pending on a Rural Residential Energy Harvester I also call an energy bootlegger that will be a tube boiler to eliminate some of the danger & limitation of a large boiler tank. HNY Ken
Stay tuned. The new turbine and boiler are on the plasma table as we speak. The rig in the video had several issues which I am going to correct. Hopefully the new rig will heat and light my house this winter.
I looked at alternators. Car models have brushes which I didn't want. Heavy truck models can be brushless but are limited to 10K rpm. I need to eventually go higher for good efficiency. My design was analyzed using FEA and found to be safe at 20K rpm.
and what about using a reduction gearbox so you can reduce the rpm but increase the torque, and then it could be possible to use a turck alternator and get more amps of it
I thought about it but just don't want to deal with high speed shaft seals or steam contaminating the oil. It's much easier to take out 600V and send it to a pulse width modulation step down system
Higher amps would require more copper to carry it. Moving it with high volts is cheaper. Convert it to what you need as close to the load as possible.
RPM should not be a problem just use the right pulley combination to put the turbine and alternator in their sweet spots.
There are new belts on the market that can handle very high speeds
I use them at work. I dont remember the name but they are blue not black. I beleive they are made from a urathane rubber. I'll check at work tomorow and get back to you.
Hi..looking at your vid I was wondering if in oil fired heating systems the burner was replaced with a small gas turbine generator, and the exhaust routed through the boiler....would it work do you think?
Hi. Yes it would work and that is exactly what is done in "topping" combined cycle plants...hot exhaust from a gas turbine and generator feeds a boiler to make steam and electricity. GE does it on a LARGE scale.
I want one. I'm adding you as a friend so let me know when you get them on the market. Thanks for using your head during these strange times and realizing the root of the problems. It took me awhile to find your video, but I knew someone else had to have thought of this.
Look up Magna Force fixed gap magnetic couplings.

The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common people.
We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity now.

Neutron,
That is what the gray air handler in back does. It's just a condensing radiator coil with a fan blowing over it. The condenser runs about 8psia.

@sabbadess check out solar parabolic dish, maybe u can incorporate that too, nice! u make the steam turbine?

@sabbadess
I have been working on the same thing. I am not as far long as you are though.
What size jet will you use for the wood gas? You can shot me a message

Ken,
Actually it's a custom impulse turbine. The latest one made in my shop is about $250. The custom boiler is only 500cc so the danger is minimal.

@sabbadess is the turbine for general sale or is it used only in your own applications?
andyjames330 1 year ago
Yeh, not very informative. If you're burning gas to create electricity, you're probabaly spittin' in the wind.

Very creative but it seams like you would be losing a lot of water. Any plans on trying to trap the steam and plumb it back into the system?

You should conect a high end car alternator to that, you should get more amps out of that

Hey bro, Google Windbluepower for the
inexpensive brushless alternators that you need.
