i love it.. i have had 3 home birth and we are going to have a new one this summer. cant wait for that. i love how you did your video. i think having a home birth is the best way to have a baby.
Beautiful video! That wasn't a little baby you gave birth to (LOL) but you trusted in your body and did what your body was meant to do. I wish more women trusted in their own bodies and put their faith in themselves and skilled midwives rather than poorly traines obstetricians. Thanks for sharing and educating! :-)
He is beautiful, My husband and I are TTC and we want to do a home water birth. I don't trust hospitals and I feel safer at home. We will keep trying and hopefully some day soon we will have our own little bundle of joy! :D

Thank you for sharing. I hope your baby gives you much happiness and joy. Is the baby boy or girl? I think it's looks like a boy! Congratulations to you both. Much deserved of a beautiful baby. I am sure the baby is in good hands.
When I eventually have children, I want to have a water birth. It seems to be the most gentle and the baby loves the water. I have a question. HOW did you not get stretch marks?! You look amazing!
I watched this video all the time when I was pregnant. It is so beautiful and gave me so much inspiration and joy. The song you used was my anthem and played while I was in labor. I can't tell you how much seeing the clips of your experience touched me and my husband. Thank you for posting! Birth is beautiful and meant to be done like this!
This is an awesome video! I really want to try a natural birth with me next baby (third one) but we are so far away from any kid of medical facility:( I would want to be closer to a hospital in the case of an emergency.
I'm 35 weeks pregnant with my second baby and planning a homebirth here in Australia. Thank you for sharing your inspiring birth, congratulations! I cried my eyes out...
What song is that? I like it. My husband and I are expecting our first child in January. I find these videos choke me up now, more than ever. That last photo is so sweet.
this was truely beautiful from start to finish. i enjoyed every single minute and even got a little teary...what a beautiful blessing...enjoy what you have been given from above...not all women are called to be mothers...u are very blessed
This is one of the most beautiful videos I have watched! Everytime I watch this it brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. I hope your family is well and growing, as our has...pysically as well as spiritually--THANK YOU for sharing...Blessings
Today is Mother's Day 2009, it is hard not for us moms to think about the day we got that special title. This video brings it all back with an amazing wave of emotion. (I tried not to cry but I was done for!) This was done with such taste and intimacy, right down to the song. Mady you are amazing for birthing such a BIG baby! Mine was 9 pounds and it was the hardest thing I had ever done, and the most amazing experience I have ever had. Thank you for sharing your little Son-Shine with us.
I think I've seen every home birth video on here, and I have to say that yours captures the emotions perfectly. I will never birth a child in a death box surrounded by money hungry surgeons.
I would NEVER have considered a home birth, but given what is happening to mothers now, it is definately something to look at very seriously. Mothers are being drugged, and then when they suffer the effects of those drugs, their babies are taken from them by CPS. The Mothers Act will make every mother at risking for these brutal kidnappings. Make sure you are informed about what happens in hospitals, so you - and your baby, or child - don't end up as victims of this billion dollar industry.
@CPSSucks Yes, not only do you have to worry about malpractice because obstetricians are so poorly trained, now you have to worry about having your child kidnapped. As I write this today, this has happened twice. Home really is the safest place to give birth for so many reasons.
@CPSSucks Yes, not only do you have to worry about malpractice because obstetricians are so poorly trained, now you have to worry about having your child kidnapped. As I write this today, this has happened twice within the last month.. Home really is the safest place to give birth for so many reasons.
@CPSSucks What the fuck are you on about. I bet your some bad parent who had their child taken off them and now you on a vendetta. Its people like you why CPS exist. Stop blaming other people for your shitty parenting.
@LadyDeathKnight - Wrong, sorry to disappoint you (interesting how nasty people such as yourself always wish for the worst harm that could befall a child, to be kidnapped by CPS). I bet you work for CPS. How's the baby snatching business treating ya? Still sleeping like a baby at night I bet, cause the screams of traumatized babies and children stolen by you baby snatchers never affect ghouls like you, do they. Keep watching your reality shows and Oprah, you'll never change.
@CPSSucks No, I don't work for CPS actually, so don't assume things. See, you get all defensive over what I said, because deep down you know I am right. They don't take children away from home just because, there is always a reason. CPS saved my life. My parents were druggies and I got taken away from them when I was 8. I got put into the best foster care family. They are my true parents. The ones who made me? They were selfish pricks who didn't deserve to have children.
@LadyDeathKnight - I get defensive because I am defending the truth. CPS doesn't save anyone's life, they are corrupt pedophiles for the most part. And they lie all the time to children about their parents, so if they told you something about your parents (if indeed you were a foster child) you better ask yourself if it is the truth. CPS loves to leave kids with people who are really abusive because that way if something happens, they get lots of publicity. Google CPS corruption.
@LadyDeathKnight - You need to watch this video, and then reconsider whether you might be thoroughly brainwashed: Nancy Schaefer "The Unlimited Power of Child Protective Services" (Part 2 of 2).flv By the way, Nancy Schaefer was murdered, along with her husband, because she was on the brink of exposing, in a big way, the brutal corruption of CPS.
I loved your video. Made me tear up. I too am expecting and I just cant fathom how wonderful it's gonna feel to hold our baby in my arms right after the labor.
aww how beautiful... my daughter has a waterbirth on january 18th of 2001 lil capricorn cuspers so sweet and thoughtful of all around them. he had the sweetest baby smile.. peace

That is such a beautiful video. I can't even imagine the joy you and your family experienced that day! Who sings the song that is playing during the video?
Wow. Great images. I love the mom and dad shots. The role of daddy in birth is so important and touching. I also love all the shots of people's reactions to the birth. Priceless... truly priceless.
there are midwives around...goggle it.. I had 4 or my 5 at home w/midwifes..there is nothing like it in the world...I am from Lancaster Pa .. many midwives here
I really enjoyed this video.I am pregnant with my first born son,and I really been considering a home birth, but I dont know how to prepare for it...I mean I have absolutly no idea. What did you do after he was born.Did you ever go tothe hospital? If you did,how long after he was born did you go?Could you are ANYONE ELSE PLEASE let me know.....TY
A lot of midwives do free consultations with midwives and will go over all your questions/concerns before you actually decide to work with them. We interviewed 3 and all were wonderful in providing us with a lot of information, though we had to choose just one.
Contact a few homebirth midwives and interview them to find who you are most comfortable with. I recommend reading and learning as much about natural birth so that you can be informed and empowered. Your midwife will take care of your prenatal and postpartum care, and there is usually no need to go to the hospital at all.
The most beautiful ensemble I've come across. The music along with the black and white artistic photos were the ingredients for tears. Thanks, we can't wait for our water birth at home:) If someone knows the name of the music I would be delighted to get a reply:)
What an awesome video! I showed this video to a class of nursing students when presenting on the topic of alternative birthing methods. Everyone LOVED it!
this was such an awesome video. I had 3 of my 6 babies at home 23,25 and almost 30 yrs. ago. So much harder to find providers now where we live. My son, the almost 30 yr. old wants so badly for he and his wife to have a vbac at home in March, but can find no one to do it. So sad. This is an experience that one cannot describe, even if you have had it. The video clearly shows it. Beautiful....
Holy Cow. Beautiful! I am bawling! I can't wait to meet our son. We are due in about 3 months. You captured it so perfectly. Congratulations on your son! I so wish we had the option of a home birth here. I'm stuck at a hospital:( Thanks for sharing!
what a beautiful video! thank you so much for posting this and sharing with the world. we are 38 weeks and preparing for our home birth so soon to come. this was inspirational. thank you!
I just found out I am pregnant (surprise!) and plan to deliver at home, too. I lovet his video and it brings a tear to my eye. I can't wait to meet mine one day in July! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and like other viewers, I love the song you chose and think it was just perfect for your story.
Most people are surprised to hear, for example, that 99 in 100 episiotomies are not needed and only preformed to make the delivery easier on the doctor. And here's another shocker: Most hospitals have a yearly "quota" for caesarian sections, much like police officers have a monthly quota for traffic tickets. Just like the number of traffic tickets increase at the end of the month, the number of c-sections performed in November and December increases as well.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
omg this is so dangerous..idk why people think they can deliver children at home...what if this baby is not breathing when he is born?...there can be a lot of last minuet complications...I had a lot of complications and had to have an emergency c section..women should think about their childs safety first!!
it's actually a very common misconception that hospital births are safer than home births...if you do the research you'll find that it is MUCH safer to have a home birth. U.S. hospitals force unnecessary medical interventions, like episiotomies, labor inducing drugs, etc. etc. onto women to speed up labor. Trying to speed up labor will usually result in "emergency" c-sections because the unnecessary interventions have created the emergency.
What a absolute beautiful story & video . i have never seen anything so wounderfull And what a perfect song for your story . Good luck in your new life with your beautiful baby.
Oh how fantastic! I am so excited to have my second home birth! What a wonderful way to start a life! My kids are now 5 and almost 8 so they are thrilled to bits about the whole experience.
I have spent a lot of time watching homebirths on here in preparation for our upcoming homebirth. This one is my absolute favorite, I also would like to know the song and artist.
I found out that I was pregnant today and watched a few videos of natural births that made me reconsider having a midwife. Then I saw yours and it reminded me of why I want it to be natural. That was the most beautiful video that I have ever saw. Thank you
i balled my eyes out while watching this, it was so touching, i remember going through a similar situation when my son was born, i just kept crying and crying with being so overwhelmed by him coming in to this world, i am due any day now (actually over by 4 days already ;) but watching this reminds me of how preciuos the moment of birth is, you really did a tremendous job on this video , once again thank you for sharing it with us all. :)
Hey! Great video. My first baby was 9 lb 8 oz! lol, anyways, how do u make a video like this?? Do you do it on another thing and post it here or make it through you tube?? Go to my latest video (I think I only have one) and leave a comment to tell me, thanx!
Hee Hee. It's funny how slim couples have such large healthy babies!! Good diets I suppose. My tiny little hippie friend has had three babies all nearly ten pounds! Your boy is beautiful. Congrats.
Beautiful, an inspiration to watch. From one dready mama to another, this brought me to tears of joy. I am about to give birth any day now and this video makes me feel ready to go! Blessings to you...
This was absolutely beautiful. I have four children and all were born natural. I commend you for going through your labor and birth all natural when our society tells us different. Congratulations and enjoy every minute of your family cause they do grow so fast.
so beautiful! made me cry... I lost my first baby dec. 06, and haven't been able to concieve since, so this really touches my heart, so happy for you.
Congradulations on the birth of your baby!!! This was truely a classie video one your child will be proud of when older! God Bless you and your family! Heres to more to come!!! P.S. Loved the song! It put a special twing to it!
That video is so cool. I love the way it didn't end with the birth. the pics eith the family were awesome. I love the pic. at about 1:39 its a cool pic and they look really happy. 3:45 too cute!
Beautiful birth, I had tears watching the moment arrive, you could feel the emotions in the room. I am so very excited to be planning my second home birth of our 3rd child late this year!
This is an amazing video.. I wish I could've done the same.. but I still have some days before my baby finally comes.. I want to have as many pictures of him as I can... thank you for sharing your moments..Heidi.. from Chile.
Absolutely amazing. I love the photography and the music but most of all I love the love...it permeated every photo of you and your family. Thank you so much for sharing.
this is one of the best I have seen in a long time. Whomever took the pictures has an eye for capturing the all-encompassing beauty, strength, and work of this labor of love.
Mama, you are beautiful, strong, and amazing! You did a good work!

I thought this video was absolutely beautiful, such a happy family. What was he song?
lovehole17 3 years ago
Most people are surprised to hear, for example, that 99 in 100 episiotomies are not needed and only preformed to make the delivery easier on the doctor. And here's another shocker: Most hospitals have a yearly "quota" for caesarian sections, much like police officers have a monthly quota for traffic tickets. Just like the number of traffic tickets increase at the end of the month, the number of c-sections performed in November and December increases as well.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
omg this is so dangerous..idk why people think they can deliver children at home...what if this baby is not breathing when he is born?...there can be a lot of last minuet complications...I had a lot of complications and had to have an emergency c section..women should think about their childs safety first!!
dani2018 3 years ago
it's actually a very common misconception that hospital births are safer than home births...if you do the research you'll find that it is MUCH safer to have a home birth. U.S. hospitals force unnecessary medical interventions, like episiotomies, labor inducing drugs, etc. etc. onto women to speed up labor. Trying to speed up labor will usually result in "emergency" c-sections because the unnecessary interventions have created the emergency.

Incredible, what a memory to have and share. My partner has just started her contractions and I hope it's half as amazing for us.
Just one comment at the end your write 10 finger and toes, perfect. Aren't there some places in the US where a few extra toes is perfectly normal!!

A couple of questions, if you don't mind(my first baby is due in late July- homebirth)...
