wow, clearly u didn't get the plot of batman begins. there is this blue flower from asia (it's from the area where bruce wayne trained at to become batman) that when mashed up turns into a powder and when smoked makes u hallucinate and go crazy. so the league of shadows (run by liam neeson's character) decided to mix the powder version of the blue flower into the water supply of gotham city and use that machine they stole from the U.S. military to make the water turn into a gas.
(that's wat u thought the whole evaporation thing was). and when the gas is released into the air it will be inhaled by all the citizens gotham and make them start to hallucinate, go crazy, and start to kill eachother. that's what liam neeson's character was trying to do, have gotham city destroy itself.
it's a bit of a complicated plot (took me 2 viewings to fully understand it) so I can understand y u wouldn't get it at first and find it kinda stupid. but i hope i cleared everything up 4 u. give batman begins another chance cause it fucking rocks.
