25 years old got my tonsils out. Cant sleep, force feed myself and water. Im on day 3 and when I got my tonsils taken out they were forcefeeding me popsicles and water and my pain was so bad nothing was working for me even morphine. Then they screwed up my prescrition I was sent home only with codein no pain reliever The first night I almost ripped my bed apart. First day I couldnt sleep on my back because my throat was screwed. I basically wouldnt wish getting my tonsils out to my worst enemy.

Having your tonsils removed is so worth it! Since getting mine removed my breath has been better and I have never had Strep Throat since. If you have over sized tonsils or tonsil stones you really should just get them removed.
It's painful to eat or drink for about two weeks, but after that it feels completely normal. You all will be fine!

Omg that's what they did to me????? Don't worry guys it only feels like a soar throat. But you can't eat anything pokey or else your throat will bleed. Around the second week, you will get lots of mucus in your throat and sometimes it stops you from breathing. ONLY FOR A SECOND though. You just have to cough it out. Then the soreness will go away.

I got mine out on Dec. 29 People were saying No its not gunna hurt, What do you know.. It's been a week I have a blood Clot Was spitting up blood and can't even swallow with out it hurting :O But that was because I got an infection.. And I believe that was from me being stupid and gonig to PetSmart with my mom. Oh and I'm 12 years old.. And I had to get another IV yesterday and it hurt like heck.... I just had a tonsillectomy and up3 done. I can barely tell I had my tonsils out (today is the 3rd day) what hurts on me is my soft pallet. They removed my uvula and shaved down my soft pallet. That's the only thing that is remotely painful. Just stay on top of your pain meds and you should be fine.
I got mine out a week ago im 14 and they say the older you are the more it hurts my ears my tounge my jaw and my throught all hurt hella bad and my tounge is soo hudge and still numb and i cant even eat ice cream im pissed. the only thing i can eat is puddin gg or jellow and when i drink it comes out my nose it works if you plug you nose tho but take small sips
I got my tonsils removed on thursday, it didnt hurt after the surgery. I was pretty drugged up though, was good to have local on it. The next day wasnt as great, very sore. Doesn't help not being able to eat either, so all the meds I have been taking made my stomach hurt.
Today being the 3rd day. . its alright. Lots of water and ice blocks are very good. Dont cough or laugh, it hurts

i've had mine taken out, when i was younger. if anyone tells you it doesn't hurt AFTER : THEY ARE LYING. ahaha, omg - it hurts SO bad. you can barly eat ANYTHING, unless its cold, & liquid. i lost weight, & cried because everytime i tried to really eat any solid food, it would scrap against my scabs. i think because of that surgery, i have fast metabolism now that i'm older, because i stopped eating so much, then got to FINALLY eat after it was all healed....
@cooldoubledual i would say no it doesn't hurt that bad... but i also have met some people who said it was pretty painful... just don't think about the pain or what actually happened in your throat and you'll be fine... try to focus on sth else... i was able to eat a bratwurst right the day after surgery and it felt so great haha
so yeah... don't try to get an impression what it feels like by asking others...just do it and you will experience it yourself

i took like ten pills two a day whenever i ate. it did help but i know they are coming bak sooner or later. so ima wait to my next check up. good luck bro. for the mean time take some iboprufen at least two pills a day for the pain at least.

@Zapdos242 for me it wasn't that painful....but another guy who got them removed as well wasn't as lucky as me...however...it's up to you...i guess when you don't think about it it won't be as painful as when you do...this is all i can say...it's impossible to tell you how much pain you'll have... have fun ;)
@Zapdos242 o dude dont worry i got them removed at 13 too im still thirteen and it doesnt hurt much at all its just uncumfturble cuz u get scabs and u needa drink alotta water or liquids. and after u get them out its pretty cool how u dont have to do anything u just sit around, play video games or watch tv. and then you eventually swoalow the scabs with is pretty sick lol but ya its fine. i got em out on august

I had my tonsils removed a few years ago,I must have been around 24 years of age. 1 day later I started eating soft stuff(so it did not hurt my throat that much),drinking a lot(that is utterly important,it helps in the healing process)and I started eating harder stuff on the 2nd week.

if you get inflamed tonsils more than 3 times a year its a good idea to. mostly children do but some adults do as well. mine are always big but i wont get them taken out unless they piss me off.
look in the back of your throat. you see your uvula? (the hanging thing in your throat that hangs from the roof of your mouth) well look left and right of that and you will see a little round thing. one on each side. those are tonsils.
do thay put you to sleep durring the opperation because i am going to get my tosil removed i am 10 years old

hey im 17 just got my tonsils out yesterday hahah before the surgery when they were about to give me the anesthesia i was laughing and me and the surgeons were having nice conversations on how they need to be careful cause i have american idol auditions in 4 weeks, but now it hurt so fricken bad i dont know if im gonna recover in time. i had huge ass tonsils were your big?

i got mines taken out when i was eight. nd of course..it hurted like hell afterwords! worst part of all, i cudnt jump nor run, or do any physical activity, nd my cousin threw a party wit a trampoline:(i cudnt get on it nd jump!

i've had mine taken out, when i was younger. if anyone tells you it doesn't hurt AFTER : THEY ARE LYING. ahaha, omg - it hurts SO bad. you can barly eat ANYTHING, unless its cold, & liquid. i lost weight, & cried because everytime i tried to really eat any solid food, it would scrap against my scabs. i think because of that surgery, i have fast metabolism now that i'm older, because i stopped eating so much, then got to FINALLY eat after it was all healed....

@cooldoubledual i would say no it doesn't hurt that bad... but i also have met some people who said it was pretty painful... just don't think about the pain or what actually happened in your throat and you'll be fine... try to focus on sth else... i was able to eat a bratwurst right the day after surgery and it felt so great haha
so yeah... don't try to get an impression what it feels like by asking others...just do it and you will experience it yourself

i had dentle surgury once... 3 years ago both my top eye teeth were sideays in my gums and the only way to get braces was to get them out. after the surury my heeks were swollen and i looked like a chipmunk with nuts in its mouth and my heeks huurt when i thouched them :(

ive been thinking about getting mine removed but some people say im to old for it. im only 20yrs old thats not to old is it? for some reason my right tonsil seems to swell maybe once every month or every other i guess due to infection. it doesnt hurt much when i swallow or anything, its just really annoying. you think its worth to have mine removed?

prednisone . . i think thats how u spell it. reliefs the swellness of the tonsils
i took like ten pills two a day whenever i ate. it did help but i know they are coming bak sooner or later. so ima wait to my next check up. good luck bro. for the mean time take some iboprufen at least two pills a day for the pain at least.

im still recovering from my operation last week! im 15 i was told its more painful to geth them out when your older, i am in so much agony, its like someone stabbed me in the back of my throat and then ate a lemon to increase the pain. the worst thing is i didnt eat for 3 days and throughout those three days i couldnt stop vomiting! I HATE TONSILS!

1) when you go and see the specialist people who decide whether or not you should have them taken out, do you have to be ill?
when you have them taken out do your tonsils have to be swolen?
last but not least- is your throat usually more sore than actual tonsilitis?

im 13 getting my tonsils removed this month dont have exact date and how much pain did u have after? im a little freaked out about if it hurts alot and stuff the doc said i have tonsilitus, h3,large swelling,whie spots,and that they are really infected so i hope it dosent hurt too much

@Zapdos242 for me it wasn't that painful....but another guy who got them removed as well wasn't as lucky as me...however...it's up to you...i guess when you don't think about it it won't be as painful as when you do...this is all i can say...it's impossible to tell you how much pain you'll have... have fun ;)

@Zapdos242 o dude dont worry i got them removed at 13 too im still thirteen and it doesnt hurt much at all its just uncumfturble cuz u get scabs and u needa drink alotta water or liquids. and after u get them out its pretty cool how u dont have to do anything u just sit around, play video games or watch tv. and then you eventually swoalow the scabs with is pretty sick lol but ya its fine. i got em out on august

just try to eat sth...that's all i can tell you...but maybe it's better to get like a hamburger or something like this...i couldn't eat the hospital food either...everything else was just fine...maybe because i knew that the hospital food wasn't any good...and i knew that i would like the other stuff^^

@butane1245 hey , i knw how u feel my uvula filled up the cavity in my throat hole thingy and whenever i layed back i gagged ..... hehehe horrible ..... but i couldnt eat solid food 4 abt 9 days ..... was craving soo badly for double cheese burger and fries but everyday i had to eat popsicles and ice cream .... nothing to acidic though ...... :) hoped that helped :)

I had my tonsils removed a few years ago,I must have been around 24 years of age. 1 day later I started eating soft stuff(so it did not hurt my throat that much),drinking a lot(that is utterly important,it helps in the healing process)and I started eating harder stuff on the 2nd week.

if you get inflamed tonsils more than 3 times a year its a good idea to. mostly children do but some adults do as well. mine are always big but i wont get them taken out unless they piss me off.

look in the back of your throat. you see your uvula? (the hanging thing in your throat that hangs from the roof of your mouth) well look left and right of that and you will see a little round thing. one on each side. those are tonsils.
