Was your friend a beginner? I think my instructor wasn't very qualified to coach,she said she went to 4 world championships but no olympics. She didn't teach me well how to roll the ball and we didn't have the chance to work with the clubs nor the ribbon. After some months she decided to coach swimming,I think she was a Physc.Educat.teacher not a rhythmic coach.

She later quit her job,how could she motivate us like that?

I took rhythmic gymnastics lessons at a late age of 22 and I really liked it,

I wish I would have taken it at age 12 like I always wanted to,I always struggled

rolling the ball, it seems easy but it is not. I was 5'4" and I was told by my coach

I was too tall,I don't understand why she said that.Why is someone 5'4" too tall

when she is starting the sport?

And rolling the ball is easy! I think it took me all of six seconds to figure it out...

The leading girl is Naazmi Johnston, she is an Olympian but she isn't the winner! But she is amazing, she went the Commonwealth Games and she is one of the best in Australia.

@ladylililala you can very rarely make a living doing a sport like rhythmic gymnastics because it's not that popular, and your body can only do it at an elite/Olympic level when your young. Winning prize money and having their own show (assuming this is what you get for winning, it's what you get on America's got talent) is a way to extend their career and make money.

@ladylililala When I was younger I was in competitive dance, predominantly ballet. I traded up for a better studio when mine shut down and started performance. But there is a thrill about competition; they're performing not only against other gymnasts now, but against different acts, which will make it a tad tougher. So in trying to look through their perspective, I'd say it's a show of strength for themselves. "The goal is to outshine the you of yesterday."-old ballerina's quote
