Never heard this mix before.Rather refreshing, actually. Its like discovering the Penthouse Pet your sleeping with has a twin sister who likes you too!
Got to admit, sorry about his suicide, but Curtis was a crap singer, dull, out of tune, New Order really were that, a new order, with a fresher, distinctive sound, great songs, great playing, everything.
@ARLO999 He's more famous for his lyrics than anything. I'll agree with you, he isn't very great at singing, but his lyrics are way better than Barny's. Ian was more of a poet than anything.
I think this version is from the B-side of the Factory Record 12 inch single. The A-side had the more well known version of LWTUA, and the B-side had this version, and 'These Days'.
80ties! Good old times!! And now? Joy Division and New Order are my favorites. The music and the lyrics sounds like a drama! How beautyful to enjoy these songs. Sentimental! Phenomenal!
@dethh100 well, beyond the 4-and-a-half months I assume that the suntoucher is referring to the influence on the music of the decade. Whilst you may be technically correct, I think you could be accused of being somewhat churlish. Not least because New Order, the most 80's thing in the world, were borne out of this band.
@MrPaddingtonFrisk New order only sounds like that because the singer/songwriter died. Imagine if Robert Smith died early on and the Cure reformed how much good music we woulda missed. New order may have influenced new wave but they sound nothing like JD sorry (I don't really even like new order)
@dethh100 hello - not to continue a tedious debate, and also not being a particular fan of NO, I still think the point stands. Regardless of why they sounded like they did, they still are 'of this band', as it were. I merely think that it's not such an unreasonable suggestion by a commentator to say that something of the late 70's and early 80 could sound 80's by virtue of the fact its influence
I also think we'd not have missed too much good music, but then again I'm not a fan of the Cure.
your all wrong !!!!!! its the b side to the original single ,,, its an ep and you played the b side at 33rpm its after These days ,,, jd couldnt make their minds up which version to release ,, this version or the version on the a side we all know ,, so they ended up putting both versions on ,, this as the b side with these days ,, i remember buying it and didnt realise the b side was at 33rpm lol
@VsGoncalves dude this has gotta be one of if not the greatest bands ever like up there with the beetles and shit and it mad me extremely sad when i heard the news Ian Curtis commented suicide 1 day before his american tour started thanks for the song its probable my favorite of all there songs
@wtfkurtis maybe they found the cassettes in the 90's, there's no need to be so critical geez the song's still great no matter where/when it came from

Yes, Ian wasn't the best singer. But his lyrics were more influential than anything new order ever produced. This guy was pure magic.

@suntoucher71 he died in 1980. So there is nothing really 80's here.

@MrPaddingtonFrisk The Cure are a good example because they sound EXACTLY THE SAME no matter what year they released that particular album/song.

It's not rare, it's the original version they did, it was on the b-side of the 12". The band were not happy with it, and recorded it again.

Beautiful. Really, and so sad, to know Ian would soon be gone. He sang so wonderfully, there was no jarring movement, he was clam and centered.
