  • my first game :)

  • I miss this game so much and havin a bigasscracked problem tryin to understand Dosbox since the original cd wont work on computers since windows xp

could u upload the sperate songs from the game too?

can't find any 'instrumental only versions' on utube, and this game gives civil war music best quality what i can think of

also my english is bad and u will have to deal with it :(

  • I love this game....you cant get it for mac can you?

  • I love the Civil War Generals 2 more then Robert E. Lee. Although the first battle of Fredericksburg is a best as the Union.

  • I had this game. It was pretty good but kind of easy I suppose.

  • Brings back good memories...loved this game.

  • what's the name of the first song?

  • @Evanamd The Battlecry of Freedom?

  • @Shyranis thanks.

  • I think this was the first PC game I ever bought on my own and the first I ever got into. I can cry thinking about this. :~)

  • I loved playing this for hours!

  • Lee knew the war was over, but let his men die on for months, so long as he was far from the dying. Lee was such a pussy, he didn't dare tell Davis the war was hopeless, tho Lee told others. So his men, and Union men, continued to die, while he ran and hid.

Lee was well known to get as far as possible away from any danger.

Lee had snipers put BEHIND his own troops to kill his own men who ran during battle.

Did you know that? Very Stalin like. See "Reading the Man" page 410.

  • Lee ran from Richmond, on the mere RUMOR of a breech in the SLAVE BUILT earth works

See Longstreet's book about Lee always complaining, trying to get out of the army, always running when he was in any danger.Lee left Richmond citizens without a word, and defenseless.

    Did you know that?

His aides begged him to stop somewhere and FIGHT. Shamed by his aides, he snuck off, got all dressed up, and surrendered AGAINST orders from Davis.

  • wowwwwww the memories! Brilliant game, they don't make them like this anymore!

  • I found a website that adds alot more historical battles to this game \\Pettigrew100.tripod.com/HQ/id2.htm If anyone knows of another website I would appreciate the post.

  • 'No sir!' 'At ease men!'

Haha. I used to love playing that Washington mission over and over again, and just bombing the Confederates with Cannons until they all gave up. lol

  • for mac possibly? :/ brings back so many great moments, effing fantastic game

  • Show Lee whipping and raping his slaves -- he did both. OR have part of the game where he sells slave infants - he did that too.

Or better yet, have him surrendering like a pussy the first time he was in danger.

Lee thought he was brave to send real men to die "for God" like some idiot Taliban fuck. But when his ass was in danger -- he surrendered as fast as he could.

  • @SouthernFriedHoney hey, before you start spewing false information maybe you should learn some actual history. Cant say anything about the slave thing, but the surrendering part. he held on as commander for over 4 long bloody years, and only surrendered when he was vastly outnumbered, no food for his starving men for 3 days. He only really surrendered when the federals captured his supply train with the food he desperately needed. He also proved himself in the Mexican war.So learn some histor

  • @steward45il Oh what fucking bullshit. First of all, retard, Lee was never in battle in Mexican war, he was an engineer. He got his promotion in the Civil War by sucking on Davis ass whole, when others would not. Lee was the biggest brownoser in US military history.

Lee caused the lost dumb fuck, his idiotic attack at Gettysburg was criminally stupid, he was told over and over and over not to send men over open ground 1.2 miles against the best armed veterans in Union army.

  • the song that never gets old...

  • Hahaha, those graphics are so out of date. Just like all sierra games are.

  • I will admit its awsome to hear this music again...loved the game back in the day, and wouldn't have cared about the music unless it was in this unique mix...thanks

  • Is there anyway to play this on a Vista? I've had this game since it came out, and I can't install it on my new computer =(

  • I'm guessing you use Vista 64 bit?

If you have an old Win98, 2000, ME whatever disc laying around you can always install VirtualPc, install the older windows into that then play it using it.

Win3.1 programs and some 16-bit win 3.1 programs don't work in 64 bit XP, Vista or 7.

  • i still play part 2 on my old xp computer

  • I uploaded a torrent on the pirate bay of this if anyone wants to play it.

  • I loved this game so much as a kid....I just installed it to play again :]

  • Any Good?

  • @ChillaxinGamer

howd you install it?! The game won't install on my Windows 7 =(

  • Oh, and this game singlehandedly is the reason why I whistle so good. I would spend my entire time whistling all the songs...

  • God I loved playing this game. I always played as the Confederates and I admired Lee...

I never bought the second part though. It would have been interesting to have played all the other battles in the Civil War like Vicksburg, Shiloh, Chickamauga, Atlanta, etc.

  • Can you still play it if you have Windows Vista?

  • In 32 bit yes, 64, maybe

  • So I just have to go get the game or can I download it from somewhere? Also is the same true for Civil War Generals 2?

  • @SevenPines62

I have this installed on Win 7 64 bit. I think you need to download a special ".dll" file to install the game.

  • @ross42899 Where can I do this?

  • @ross42899 - How do I do this?

  • very good game ;) awesome music +

  • I just want my copy to work on Vista ... any suggestions?

  • And here lay all of my childhood memories...

  • If you no longer own the game, I have a link to the demo version in my movie description =D

  • Do you have the full version? I've already bought it twice before so I think I'm licensed to play it..lol

  • Not one I'd be willing to distribute, mainly because sharing software has harsher penalties than downloading. I'm sure you can find it on any abandonware site if you look around. (If you have the game box or manual or something still you should have precedent to download a backup copy I think)
