"Chumley....get me out of here! Get me out of here!!! Haven't heard this for 40 years or more. This cartoon is great, just love the 3DBB and Don Adams voicing Tennessee. Big stupid Chumley is fun too. Thanks for showing this.
my dad's friend always talks about this show but i've never seen it until now. Amazing cartoon. I wish more cartoons were like this today instead of all the crap on tv now
I quite agree. Cartoons such like this usually reflected a relatively calm environment where problems and challanges that arouse were solved in differenet ways. Todays cartoons are chaotic, full of action, constant scene changes and full of noise. No wonder why kids of today grow up expecting the same chaos from their real lives.
I remember my late father seeing this episode with me. When he saw Tennessee's smashing of Chumley's statue, he commented on how Tennessee was mad at him.
How many plans did they have todays was no. 801 wow. in one of the others they had plan xyz that has to be 2 books one with numbers and one with letters. That's alot of escapes poor Stanley he would never be able to show the walrus and Pen. display.
Fun fact: Adams' idea for the voice of Maxwell Smart (the same voice he brings to T. Tuxedo and Inspector Gadget) was a slightly exaggerated impersonation of actor William Powell who starred in many, many classic Hollywood movies including the "Thin Man" (and its largely poor sequels). If I recall correctly, Don said he didn't expect his impersonation to get over with the Get Smart production team (Mel Brooks & Buck Henry, I believe), but they loved it and the rest is hilarious history!
Mr. Whoopie got me through 2 years of High School Physics & my first year of College Physics & Chemestry. I'm now a sucessful forklift driver wth a Masters Degree in Philosophy. "And A-Haha...Whoopie!"
Kenny Delmar was "The Narrator"; Mort Marshall was "Stanley" (also doubled as "Klondike Kat"); Bradley Bolke was "Chumley" and "Flunky" {sounding a bit like his brother, Dayton [Bolke] Allen}; and Larry Storch was "Mr. Whoopee"...
The late Don Adams did the voice. The production company that did Tennesee Tuxedo also did "Underdog" which Wally Cox provided the voice of the K9 super hero.
Early educational cartoon, that what I always like Tennessee Tuxedo. better than most, no all this junk on TV now.........
