Diana Hyland died of breast cancer in 1977. At the time she was dating John Travolta. They had met on a movie called The Boy In The Plastic Bubble.

Cloris Leachman couldn't begin to compare as far as looks go. I never considered Leachman a beauty but Diana was. I always felt like John Travolta never got over her death.

If you type in Cloris Leachman Oscar here on youtube, you'll see a very attractive Cloris in her early 40's who resembles Diana, IMO. And, yes, I agree with your comment about John Travolta--sadly, now he has to deal with his son's premature death. Now that's tragic.

Diana Hyland was certainly much better looking than Cloris Leachman.I felt her death was tragic too.

She was incredible in "Spur of the moment" and that is actually my favourite episode of Twilight Zone ever - also because of her amazing performance.

Even though she was much older, John Travolta and Diana Hyland were very much in love. It broke his heart when she died. They met while filming the i976 TV movie "Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Diana played John's mother.

Back in the 1960's it seemed as if every week I turned the TV on, Diana Hyland was guest starring in a various TV series. Although she had a small role in "The Chase" with Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, her guest star roles in "The Twilight Zone" and "The Invaders" were very memorable! I was very sad to hear of her death while she was starring in the "Eight Is Enough" series. She was a very good actress, who never received the fame she deserved.
