  • How good is the AeroVee?

is it a complete FWF-ready package?

do you need much additional fabrication to mount the engine?

    eg exhausts, fittings, etc.,

  • This engine is to weak for the HD model. Something Sonex missed to inform but as long as u buy there stuff it ok but when problems apears no one knows anything. If you put on an reduction drive maybe it will work better. There is not so much fabrication, I bhought the exhoust together woth the engine from sonex. If you are alowed to make your own engine mount, no big deal then, jsut do it. here in sweden I had to order mine becouse of EAA roules.

  • The engine comes with everything u need, 20A alternator is to weak if u ask me. ofcourse it depends on how mush power u use. im considering to build me the HDS wing just to lower the drag and make it a litle bit easyer for the engine. fly safe, razvan

  • @razvan790120 Thanks for the info.

  • Don't have to worry about the wings folding up on this one. It don't have any ROFLMAO

  • Hi, sorry I spelt wrong. I have 2600-2700 at 75%, Static I get also 3000rpm wit a 62x40" prop. At WOt in level flight I am not able to achive more then 3000rpm same as staick, I think that the drag is way to big for this engine and the engine torq is to smal. What aircraft do you have. The engine is very well tuned if you ask me. At idle when I switch ignition i only get 30-50rpm drop.

  • Hi,

I am having troubles with the engine. I am surprised you get only 2600 2700 rpm at WOT. I am getting 2950 WOT static. When I fly I am not able to get 3600 rpm that is the value we are supposed to get. So you and I are not geting the rpm. How is your timing. As I have investigated this will help a lot for increasing rpm (And power). You are right I calculated about 64 Hp. So I have a very poor climbig rate.

    Regards.

  • Hi Razvan. I have a Sonex plane. I have the same performance you are getting from your engine, so I do not think the problem is the drag of the Zodiac. Why you din not try the Rotax 912?

  • hello

I have been able to adjust the engine better thn before, the engine runs much smoother now and maintains idel rpm much better, it does not go up and down so much longer,

I have also rebuilded the intake now and it is slightly better but still to close to max. front cylinders lies between 130-145degrees celcius while rear right is 205-210 degrees al the time and rear right 1195-200degrees,

  • I have come to realize that this engie is to weak for this airplane. I can´nt get the right in cruise and if my calcuclation is correct when I am flying woth 2600-2700rpm I only have around 66hp. I dont know what else to do to increase the engine rpm. A smaller prop will do that but at the cost of speed.

  • That's a big prop for that engine! My Quickie with a Revmaster swings a lot smaller wood prop. Is that aluminum? If so are you sure that's ok to use?

  • Hi

I have a sensenich propeller on that engine. It is made of wood. When I placed the order I informed sensenich of the engine I had and the aircraft i was buildign. So I belive that I got the right thing.

    clear sky

  • Hello again.

As you said, the propeller is to big for this engine. It´s a 62"x40" propeller. Sensenich is making me a new one since the results I´m getting with this one are not right.

  • Hi Razvan. I remember you talking about your high temps in the AeroVee forum. How are you doing so far?
