  • f9 is just one variant that will influence DOF.

  • Thanks for this Chris. Though I'm not sure I understand how a dark or bright background affects the depth of focus. I think your trick here is basically just to make the background darker?

  • Excellent! Exposure stacking without software! Thanks.

  • If there is enough separation (distance) between the subject and the background, the flash won't reach the background and will only illuminate the subject.

  • How come the background isn't exposed by the flash like the subject?

  • Thanks Mate, very precise and simple introduction.

  • @DVL1507 and @gamingslasher - Glad the videos are helpful, thanks for the feedback. I find this is actually easier to do in manual exposure mode so you can control all of the variables rather than the camera choosing them for you.

  • @chriscorradino

do you have to do this in manual mode chris?

    your video really helps mate

    thx!

  • Thanks, that was a great tip. I am also not so fond of the people that nag about getting the background so much out of focus but at the same time you see pieces of the subject being soft. It is not worth it in my opinion. Thank you very much for this workaround. Will try it.

  • I bought the 25mm Kenko AF extension tube to use on my 50mm 1.4 lens. Just got it today. Love the macro world!

  • For Canon, I'd say the 100mm usm macro lens. Great lens and not too crazy expensive.

  • whats a good macro lens??

  • @StevenRHaz -- try a 50MM macro lens bro....
