@WedidLandONtheMOON There is a history behind that reason...The first Land Cruiser called the Toyota "Jeep" BJ, that was back in the 50's. Most people don't know this but the Toyota BJ replaced the Jeep in the Korean war. So the US gave Toyota the specs for Willy's Jeep and Toyota created thee BJ which later was renamed to Land Cruiser. They made the vehicle look as similar to a Jeep as possible for the US troops on the ground.
@sietepeo1 You dont have to move to venezuela to drive a 40. That would be ridiculous to ship not to mention pay taxes at the boarder on... In the U.S. they are difficult to find due to the rust issues they had. So typically between 4-5k for a unrusted fixxer upper. A great one is about 30k.
@fjmaverick Down here the fj40 were for a lot of time part of the land escape, for example in 70s i knew towns where only vehicles around were the fj40 and Yamaha mountain bikes only a few willies, studabaker military trucks, and F-150 67-79, 4x4 trucks, now that is about to change for new commercial models but a lot of people still prefer it and parts are still plenty .My self I m proud to own a 76 toyota fj-40 with a 2H diesel motor inside that I drive every day.
I am the person who owned this FJ. I sold it on eBay and I got $20,000 for it. I had $36,000 into it. You never get what you have in it. It was a great truck, I had it for close to ten years and it was a blast. I now drive an FJ Cruiser and it's awesome also - just a different kind of awesome.
1st of all, the truck sits perfect as it is. 2nd. you don't rock crawl, mud, lift or anything else other then light off roading for it's a gem as you can tell. Quit posting ridiculous remarks on how you would do it for we don't care. Does anybody know what the final selling bid was for?
i like this vechiles becasuse we have 3 nos it BJ45 LP-KW 1984 models in diesel(pickup type) but i do not know it mileage capacity in india term perliter /kilometers
i REALLY like the wheels and tires on this truck. I have a '72 i just purchased and would like to install the same wheel/tire combo i see on this '76. Can can anyone give me exact specs on the wheels and tires please, if known?
There are two fj40s in my town, one that is beautifully preserved, and another that unfortunatly rotting away in some weeds. I don't know what the actually condition of the neglected one is, as I didn't want to trespass on someones land, even though it is a mere 15 yards from the street and can be seen. I take it by the fact that the 40 is in some pretty tall weeds, that it doesn't run, again speculation. I think it would make a neat resto prodject, if I could by it.
I have a '76 landcruiser with camoflauge radar absorbent paint used by the air force. My dad has had that thing for 30 years now and we never have had to do any major work on it yet. But man, those things are powerful and built to last. if I were you i'd keep your landcruiser just because they're so rare.
Oh cars are girls, and trucks are boys roylt2. Put some large tires and raise it and you have the PERRFECT truck. Great looking, mus taken alot of cash to restore.
i am also from 1976 but belief me that car looks better loll
