  • Very nice man! you kind of over-did the bends sometimes but overall very nice!

  • 6 or 7

  • How hard is this solo?? Im thinking about doing a cover and posting a video but i want to know how difficult the solo is. On a scale of 1 to 10?

  • by any chance are u using the NS-2 or Decimator Noise Reduction Pedal

  • @2occasional Not on this one. This was strictly guitar straight into the amp, and I used the amp's gain. No other effects were used.

  • @rzr77 dude ur guitar sounds so sick :D

  • @rzr77

Props to you man, its not an easy solo to play!

  • woww you kick ass

. i've covered this solo too

  • @rzr77 Indeed, we've never finished learning.

btw those McNaught are waaaay -expensive- ...tho never tried one myself.

  • Ive been looking up McNaught guitars and they were EXPENSIVE! How much did that one cost? (i wanna get one really bad)

  • omfg..... im seriously speechless lol.... do you think I, a person thats only been playing electric guitar for 4 months could play this solo? please respond X) thanks

  • @MrEyebrowz hey what are you doing here?!?1 XDD

anyway dude thts FKN AWSUMM !!!!!

  • @MaydayParade14XD you noobasouras get out of here XDD

  • @MrEyebrowz UR THE NOOBASAURUS XDDD

  • SPLAWN! nice amp :D (and guitar obv)

  • hard to do this solo clean and with feeling but i think you did a good job.

  • can you send me the tabs ? or link

  • i love how ur hands move like spiders at the beginning haha

  • fucking amazing man

  • very nice, but hey what brand of guitar is that. I like the oldschool style with 24fret on them.

  • @Mr0ro Thanks for the comment! It's a McNaught guitar. I started playing them almost 3 years ago, and I'll never look back. They are simply amazing instruments.

  • Noone can play it as Marty do, but fucking great cover.

  • good work man!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Woooow man ..you nailed that and i know how tough that is to play.

    Major props.

  • the people who pressed that dislike button are retards

  • you play this solo so well!

  • well, i would not be better in any way, but sorry, the timing is not really exact ^^

  • awesome

  • Awesome!

  • Definitely tougher than the Tornado of Souls solo. Anyone else think the same ? Awesomely played btw.

  • Need to work on the bends, to get the marty signature effect, but good job

  • nice job

  • nice guitar!!

  • huu ta re sarpaaadoo!! suenaa re bieen!!

    alta violaa xD

  • this sounds pretty good, but one thing I noticed is you skip the tap harmonic at :46 it's just the normal octave tap and release everything else is pretty good though.

  • interesting. you play like a classical guitarist.

  • thats because that is the most comfortable way to sit when ur playing on a v body style. if u played the other way the guitar would probably slide.

  • fuck!!!!!!! YOU ARE INSANE

  • fucking amazing dude fucking amazing

  • what kind of Guitars is that?

  • Thanks for the comments, Everyone. To answer your question, gunsproof, it's a McNaught V5.

  • holy shit

  • you use your fingers very well. inb4 that's what she said!

  • that was perfect

  • Very Good position of your flexible fingers =D Awesome man!!!.. Thanks..

  • well done!

  • Really cool cover of a very tough Marty Friedman solo. 5/5

  • I didnt mean to imply that the solo was perfect. By comparison to all of the other Lucretia vids posted on Youtube this one (in my estimation) accomplishes the overall feel of Marty's style. Marty is difficult to emulate. His "outside" style and unique aproach combined with the sliding arpeggios are not easily duplicated. I would be hesitant to criticize until i have mastered the solo... which is coming soon- and I'm sure my version won't be perfect either.

  • i dont what you mean 123jozef....there were several parts in this including 29 that is wrong.

  • 0:29 is badass. That's where everyone else seems to get it wrong. Good job mang!

  • Look, for whoever says his tone sounds like crap:

    1. Who cares? He sounds amazing and if you can play it better, you're lying because no plays it like Marty.

    2. He has mentioned several times before that he doesn't have good recording equipment. Heck, you can see the stack in the background, I think he knows what he's doing.

Anyways.... GREAT COVER! I've watched all your video and I love 'em all. Great job!

  • kick ass cover!!

    5/5

  • Really rock´s, very nice 5/5!! Lucretia rocks away!!

  • excelent well done.

  • Thanks, Bro.

  • this cover is fantastic, but theres something about the tone that doesn't sound right. 5 stars.

(i wouldn't have mentioned the tone had your playing not been as good, but since you play it so well, I feel that if the tone was altered a bit, it would really shine.)

  • slightly too much treble..?

  • Such clean playing. I rekon you could do with a bit more gain.

  • YES!!! you got it man. most of the other ppl i see covering this solo shy off of the bends, not you though. sounds great.

you make it look easy though, thats my complaint. cuz in about 45mins ill be losing my hair trying to learn it. LoL

  • nice solo but damn that splawns sounds horrible,,

  • how right you are

  • Finally someone can nail it(: great man

  • Speechless

  • Marty Friedman=God

  • Fantastic mate, not many can pull off friedmans solo like that

  • You just pwned the solo. Great licks man.

  • Man this cover is fucking awesome!!

    Sounds detailed, good!

5 stars man, very great cover!

If you want, you can see my cover!

    Keep rocking dude \m/

  • Brilliant job man. A friggin tough solo to nail and you done it. Love the guitar tone too

  • Thank you so much. That means a lot.

  • McNaught! \ m /

  • That's right! \M/

  • nicely played. im trying to learn this and mine sounds like shit compared to that

  • Thanks, Man. Just keep at it. . .you'll get it if you keep going.

  • god i love it!!!! excellent!

  • 28

I think I've commented on this before and it's an awesome cover by the way. I was just messing around today and the little arpeggio you play at 0:28, I hate the tabs for that but I played it the same way, starting up at 9 and 7 but i just realized you can just go to 14 on the a string and 14 h 17 then 16 on the next 2 strings down then you can play what you normally would and it makes it so much easier. lol dunno why I'm even posting this you play it fine anyway but take it easy bro.

  • Cool, Man. I've come to the conclusion that as long as the notes are right, you should play something any way for you that seems the most natural and the easiest.

    Keep rocking.

  • Definitely agree on that one. That's why I spend forever changing around tabs on guitar pro before I even really start to learn all the patterns together. Anyway, keep rocking yourself. Sweet guitar by the way \m/

  • wow realy nice that is like an all time fav that i hav from Megadeth definetly awesome!!

  • Yeah, this is definitely one of my favorite solos by Marty. His style is just really cool, and it's very hard to emulate! Thanks for the message!

  • Man.i am from Argentine,i am 15 years old and i'm arming(assembling) a band of heavy metal as(like) megadeth and have a jackson a marshall and a pedal zoom gx1 between(among) others as the FAB metal and danelectro.

That you use your for this metal sound?

    Thank you !

and you are a great guitar player

    :)

  • Thank you, and best of luck to you and your band. For this video I'm using a McNaught V5 guitar and a Splawn Quick Rod amplifier. I'm not using any pedals, just the guitar and amp.

  • Excelent man

  • Thanks so much!

  • so precise and clean. amazing bro.

  • Very cool comment, and much appreciated!

  • Yeah dude!!

Ive watched a couple of your vids now, totally diggin it!

    An excellent attempt bro..

    Cheers

  • Thanks, Man. That's the solo that got me into Megadeth.

  • good,maybe a little much distortion,but it's great ;)

  • Yeah, the distortion does come through a bit heavy, but oh well. ;-)

    Take care.

  • cool guitar!

  • Thanks, Man. McNaughts kick major butt.

  • that was totally awesome

  • Much appreciated!

  • One of Martys best solo's with Megadeth. You did it justice.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice man, good job and cool guitar. Check out my Tornado solo vid, and keep rippin :)

  • good cover man!keep on rockin

  • Everyones gotta try and be a critic jeezz, fuckin awesome man!

  • Thank you!!!

  • That was absolutely sick dude! This is arguably Megadeth's most technical solo. Even though Megadeth has a lot of very hard solos, I think that this one is the trickiest. The mode that this solo is played in is odd-as-hell.

  • Awesome! Truly amazing!

  • Thank you!!!

  • I should be saying thank you coz i'm using your cover to teach me how to play the solo. And your tone's great too!

  • I'm honestly flattered, Man. If you need any tips breaking it down, just let me know.

  • Yeah im also using this to learn the solo, and its actually helping a ton. thanks bro.

  • That means a lot. Thank you so much!

  • no problem.

  • lol I just noticed how awesome your guitar is

  • Awesome. You've got the technique down really well, but in terms of musicality you could use some work. Just try to make it a bit more legato and you should be fine. Also I think at 0:36 it works better if you bend up only 2 semitones (it's what he does anyway).

    Anyway good job.

  • Cool, Man. Thanks.

  • Amazing! How long have you been playing?

  • marty fans! theres two friedman shirts selling on ebay. just type in marty friedman and they will pop up. i gotta admit they're the first friedman shirts ive seen..

  • May I ask how much the splawn head and cab costed in total? I'm looking to invest in a splawn.

  • AMAZING!!!!

    just perfect man!

    5 stars...

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Mmm, tasty thrash solo :D

  • Definitely one of Heavy Metal's coolest solos. Thank you, Buddy!

  • Thats so insane.

  • awsome dude !

    keep playing amazing stuff

    I'm gonna suscribe ;)

  • Cool! Thanks, Bro!

  • Awesome dude.

  • Just gotta say the tone in this video was much better than your others you sure spin those knobs on your amp the right way ;)

  • Thanks, Man. But are you talking about the tone on just my videos before this, or ALL the other ones? Just curious, as I'm still trying to get my tone "just right" for the camcorder.

  • Well the out of all the megadeth vids I saw from you, this one has the perfect sound, just a really nasty crunch that sounds great with the videos and guitar.

  • Love it as always, subscribed. More Megadeth material!

  • man you are good, and i love megadeth, respect, ive been playing guitar for half a year and im learning the solo to crazy train, seeing your videos makes me jealous ^^

  • Thanks, Man. Keep at it! The solo to "Crazy Train" is wicked. . .good choice.

  • you rule... i love megadeth and that is actually one of my favourite solos of all time... can you tell me were to find the tab for it...and symphony of destrucion if you know...it would be much appriciated cause i cant seem to find the right tab any were...thanx

  • Thanks, Dudical. I used the tab from the official "Rust in Peace" tab book as a template. But. . .I don't play it exactly like that. What can I do?. . .I always end up changing the tabs.

For that one, most of the notes were right, but some of the fingerings I changed to what I thought were more idiomatic to the guitar.

As far as "Countdown" goes, there are several tabs out there that seem to be spot on. I'll do some research and p.m. you the one I think looks the best.

  • ya cool thanx man sounds good...sorry but wat exactly does the p.m mean...lol im not very good with abreviations.thanx

  • P.M means private message. Yeah, I'm getting used to this internet speak, too! By the way, I haven't found a really good transcription yet, but I'm looking!

  • cool thanx... and once again great job

  • That was excellent dude! Megadeth is my favorite band and this is one of my all-time favorite solos. The sweep-picking section is VERY hard. Friedman is definitely a master! Can you play some "Hangar 18" solos and the "Tornado of Souls" solo? I would love to see those! Keep up the good work!

  • dude, your playing is rocks! but marty hasn't academic-tuned fingers (due to his fingers' damage) => he plays with more "freedom" of fingers)), try to play that way.

but anyway your solo is rocks! thanks for posting this!))

  • Thanks for the comment, Man. I'll take it as a compliment in regards to the whole "academic" thing, since I'm self-taught and really don't have any formal training on guitar. I just play the way that feels most comfortable to me and feels the most efficient.

By the way, what injury did Marty have? I've been a fan of his for almost 15 years, and I've never heard of such a thing. ????

  • you never missed ONE single note which is amazing.

i hate to even say anything...but your timing needs a slight little tweak. but dude, i can't even play this half as awesome as you, so it's in no way a big deal

  • Thanks, Man!

  • Super, your skills are outstanding!

  • Hey Man, glad you like it! It's a McNaught guitar. All their guitars are custom "made to order." They'll really do ANYTHING you want. In my case, I wanted a Vee (3rd one they've done) with a psychotic green top. The color I chose is called "Reptile" and works really well with the quilted top. I'll send you a link with some better pictures.

    Take care!

  • Killer man. I love your McNaught... Glad it plays kewl. \m/

  • Thanks, metalboots. It plays like "butta!"

  • Nice tone! I myself will be a proud owner of the Quickrod next week. :)

  • Thanks, Man. And congratulations on your Quick Rod. You're gonna love it!

  • Hey Razor, I didn't know you were posting vids again! I saw your post on the Dean guitars forum and eagerly scurried over to watch them all :)

As usual, face meltingly awesome. Sweet new guitar too! By the way, loved the chickin pickin video, just goes to show that you are a talented guitarist and not a one trick pony!

  • Thanks, Tek! Good to see you back! Yeah, I had a little break there, but I was waiting for my McNaught and Splawn. And I'm glad I did!

    And by the way, I'm a TWO-trick pony! ;-P

  • Very nice!!!

  • U "PWNED" That Solo !!!!!
