I am lucky enough to have Managed a Guitar shop... And have a Country GentleMan, and a Tennesean, Along with numerous Gibson (Even a 1918 Fhole), Fender The thre Blondes Jag MUsatange and a blond BandMaster amp, Weird but cool Combo We ordered from Fender. A couple Martins on that a guy got shot at and the Martin deflected it Went through the top and out the back so I dont know about the old fellers deflection story, Moserite, Gibsiphones, some Kalamazoo's
I'd like to know if you play with a junior 6120 or a standard one ? 'Cause I'm about to (maybe) buy a Junior 6120 and someone guy told me the sound would be a lot different, and actually not as good as the standard one. So I'd like to know if you have tried both ?
Thank's! Mine is a 2006 G6120-1960. I played a gig last night and went from clean picking, to warm reverb rythym tones to full overdrive with the coolest feedback ever! It does everything well! I can only imagine a vintage one.
Just cause you don't like country or rockabilly guitar playing doesnt make it borring. Secondly you couldn't play something like this to save your life. Third you probably listen to that fake ass modern skatepunk crap which in my mind is much more borring.
You sound a bit like Chet sounded when he first recorded Country Gentleman over half a century ago. Keep at it! This is a great site for watching pickers like yourself. I am trying to copy CG from watching your clip and figure it is in the key of A. (Am I on the right track?)
Nice playing I had a 1961 Country Gentleman, sold it.Does your shirt say Marshall?Do you ever use a lat pick?I hope hope I am not the only one having a hard time trying to transition.....
Thank's John! Drag you sold your Gretsch, I still have my '91 Marshall JCM 900 50 watt 2x12 combo. It's got dirty pots and has'nt seen action in a while, but I plan to get it fixed. I read article with Sonny Landreth and he said no one likes Thumbpick's at first so get the one you hate least and tuff it out... sounded like good advice to me. lol
I'm finally hunkering down and listening to all your stuff. And I'm going to go on listening and learning from your style. very very fine. makes me wanna go buy a Gretsch, too. Is it new or vintage?
For months or so, It's a Nashville 6120 1960, I am very flattered, I really think you are one of the most talented performers on here! I value your comments and appreciate your time. Thank you Darryl P.S I would love to hear you play a Gretsch!!!
I wish! I'm from Newfoundland Can.I had a band once doing mostly classic rock n blues. We could never keep a steady bassist. Do you play professionaly?
Thanks! I just got it a few months ago. Takes a bit of getting used to. I wanna try some Duane Eddy,Link Wray,Ventures,Maybe some stuff with a band who knows!
Thank's I appreciate it! After watching your preachin' blues I wanna post more country blues! I'm gonna post the full version of Levee camp Blues(Son House) Too!
Thanx for the kind words. I'm using a fender pro junior,H2o Echo/chorus and holy grail reverb. I want a Fender blues deluxe. I experimented with the Gretsch through my Ultrasound but it was,nt as good.
Yes I know exactly what you mean, though I do not own a Gretsch unfortunately, but playing an electric for that Chet and Merle stuff is difficult when your primary instrument is an acoustic. But you capture the Chet sound, and that is quite an achievment.
I have a Fishman Loudbox acoustic amp, would you recommend it for an hollowbody guitar? What amp do you use?
Very good. The way it should sound. Try avoiding hitting the pickup with your thumpick, or playing too close to it. Perhaps it would help to place your right hand closer to the bridge.
I like it ! Recording doest sound so great, but it is still really enjoyable ! Thanks

Get a Blues Deluxe, they're well worth it, perfect for any gig. Though the Blues Junior should be fine if you just mic it up.
