I don`t actually know alot about these mowers but all I could think of was something plugging up the carberator seeing how yours is a briggs and mines a tecumseh. Good luck

Its a teccy- can tell from the aircleaner- have a 12HP teccy just like it.
Id look for a cheep tractor for parts( ask friends/family if have any around).
Not a bad find for $30- has potential.
I got a MTD wizard free couple years ago with a blown engine- i thot a piece of metal was lying there- but was the whole back of the block!
I was gonna mod that out , but decided to keep it stock n redo it. I have a spare MTD chassis and my murray for moddin....
