ok i just saw this movie. we are all suckers... its nothing. there is no secret! all this shit about keeping the film in separate sections in different places... they reveal nothing. its just a movie about some people running around filming some monster destroying a city. the secret starts and ends there. thats IT! doesnt show anymore than is in the trailer.... might b a prequal to the live action eva though.

The cameras used would most likly use mini-dv tapes, which I'm not sure of the format (mm) but I'm sure it's not 35mm. It's a mini-dv 60. On top of that, an hvx200 films in HD and can use P2 cards, a tapeless form of digital recording. No hand held professonal camcorder films on 35mm film.
