Try the Dm dorian ( same notes as C major scale) try to emphatize the 6th ( b note) ande the 9th ( the E note). will sound jazzy but in a rock way!!!

normally i use the whammy pedal like Steve.. nut at that time my whammy was broken so i im´rovise doin all with the distortion only, doing whit power chords...

Theres 2 way to play it on whammy. a playing the root ( in case D) set whammy 4th lower ( low A). Other way is to ´play the A and set whammy to 4th higher ( the root D)

in matter effect is a inverted power chord with the root under the fifth in the key of D.. steve do with the whammy's harmonizer with fifth below.. i have my own whammy but was wrecked at the time i made this record!!!!
