This from KANUHA86 in another video site. But I thought it's interesting, so I wanted to include it here. In regards to the Samoan knife, metalwork is not part of the culture, so he said, "true the weapon was actually a club, but with western influence, the club became the knife, and the dance was known as the siva nifo oti, most of the basic fire knife moves is actually war moves. fire was added to the knife in 1965 by chief letuli after he met asians on tour and saw them dancing with fire"
this from samoa (dot) usembassy (dot) gov: "Migrants from SOUTH EAST ASIA arrived in the Samoan islands more than 2,000 years ago and from there settled the rest of Polynesia further to the east."...located under the "History of Samoa"
key words "US"embassy."GOV" not "SAMOAS" history...thats like saying we all came from "AFRICA" since thats where the oldest carbon dating human remains are found
Well obviously if you want to go back that far, then yes you're correct. But during human migration from Africa during the thousands of years, people entered South East Asia from the Asian Mainland settling there for another tens of thousands of years. As the population grows, new generations of human migration from South East Asia sailed onto the Pacific Islands...so the Samoans came from South East Asia as oppose to coming directly from Africa.
The journey to the samoan islands comes from a mixture much larger than just south east asia and yes I'm sure your right how else can we look so beautiful...lol... and you can't forget the german blood mixture... oh yeah and maybe the ugly ones might come from africa...lmao j/k....
The name of the song is 'E iu ina timu ae i'u lava ina laofie' which is literally translated that "Although it rains, it will eventually dry up'.
