  • I'm "Going Galt" and have even written a book on the subject titled "Going Galt: Surviving Edonomic Armageddon". Most people can't drop out 100%, but you can aggressively prepare for the bad times both financially and through stockpiling and self reliance measures. Search Daxton Brown for a video.

  • Wow- is it me, or is it only white people are stupid enough base their lives on a shitty work of fiction?

    Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @traffik0001 As opposed to all of the religious people in the world...

  • @traffik0001

That work of fiction is based on something too.

  • @traffik0001

I hear black people base their lives on a shitty pieces of fiction like the Bible and the Koran. It isn't a race thing.

  • He shrugs at 0:10. Brilliant!

  • gayer than barak.

going galt is awesome but wont likely work...why?

the super rich pay the politicians bribes to get favorable tax laws...the lazy and welfare folks dont pay taxes....only the middle class gets fucked in the ass.

    a socialist dream

  • Nice video although the computer voice is annoying as hell!

  • You just don't get it......Good, Good.

  • LMFAO!!! SANDWICH MAKING SKILLS IN MY BIG BRAIN HAHAHA. FUCK SUBWAY they had the $5 footlong for all subs now that only applies to the meatball and baloney shit sandwich. i'm taking my big brain and sandwich eating skillz elsewhere, galt style.

  • Working at Subway is Galt's Gulch for some of us. For when you get to keep the unmolested fire of your mind to yourself, you are in paradise. If it came down to it, I would work for less then your so called minimum if I could do so.....but of course that would mean going to jail.

  • No one ever notices the other people in Galt's Gulch, the so called "normal" people. They miss the truck driver and they miss the housewife and they miss people abandoning their jobs everywhere. They do notice the sex and that's the only real critique they can almost argue. But, they don't notice that Dagny digs it rough. Dagny is one of the most powerful people in the country everyone has to kiss her ass. But, why try to explain someone's complex sexual behavior in book to the barely literate.

  • Hahaha! How are these "super entrepreneurs" going to produce anything without workers? And who are they going to sell what they produce to?

  • The government thinks you're worth a minimum of of $6.50 in fancy paper money. Your labor isn't even on the same level as gold or silver.

  • I'm laughing so hard my stomach hurts.

I feel like I just did 300 crunches.

  • Galt's Gulch wasn't originally planned by Galt. They just used it as a one-month-per-year retreat from the looter's world. You missed the point of the book entirely. Producers don't have to remove themselves entirely from society, they just need to stop selling the products of their minds so that the looters can't live off those products. The producers in the book had jobs on the outside as mindless laborers working for the mindless. The mindless can't lead and thus the looter's world collapses.

  • big brain subway making sandwiches! lol

  • Creating jobs is certainly not exploitation per se, it is rather what you do with those people working for you, how they are treated, what kind of life can be lived after laying ones labor over to the corporation.

It seems to me that some recognition of that contribution through fair labor standards is one way of sustaining a reasonable capitalism still framed within some concern for the social good.

  • what is this shit? go read the book, no socialist ever honestly survived it intellectually

  • This video assumes laws like minimum wages are what brings you a quality of life. If thats true, why don't we just make minimum wage $1 million/hour. See how much bread costs then.

  • You're not quite right. At most, this video assumes that a REASONABLE minimum wage brings you a quality of life. This video does not claim that setting the minimum wage magically makes everyone wealthy. It simply makes the point that a reasonable safety net such as a minimum wage prevents free-market capitalism from turning into perpetual exploitation by those who are born into wealth over those who are not. A minimum wage gives those born into poverty a fighting chance at social mobility.

  • There is no reasonable minimum wage; there is no economic standard for a "fair" price for anything, labor included, because prices are subjective and depend on an individual's valuation of something. All the minimum wage does is CAUSE unemployment, by forcing those who would have been hired below that wage out of the market, and eliminating the competition for the rest. And a low wage is always preferable to none at all.

  • oh phew! at the beginning, I was afraid he was asking if he could rape her. as i recall, Francisco d'Anconia rapes Dagny pretty hard. as any smart girl would, she obviously enjoys ever second of it. although as a true objectivist Francisco doesn't care about Dagny's enjoyment. i guess it was lucky he picked the right girl to rape.

  • Wrong book, wrong characters.

  • Wrong book?! Wrong characters?! The book is ATLAS SHRUGGED, bitch! Read the Wikipedia version if you have to - but don't tell ME that I'm off base.

  • Atlas Shrugged had some graphic sex scenes, but the one between Francisco and Dagny could hardly be described as rape. You're probably thinking of the scene in the Fountainhead between Howard Roark and Dominique Francon.

  • I meant what I said. The encounter between Francisco & Dagny was rough. In that scene, Ayn Rand explicitly argues that men should not ask women for permission to have sex. Stop bringing checkers to a chess game.

  • Incredibly funny and hits all the core points, beginning with the absurdity of these super-capitalists leaving a socialist America to rot. Despite the criticism below, your video is spot on: exactly who does any work in Galt's Gulch when they have no one to manage, no one to delegate to, and no one to exploit?

  • if your read the book, youd know that they all do the work themselves, including farm labor.

Creating a job and paying a wage, is not exploitation.

  • if you read the book you will find that they work. because they are producers, unshackled by moochers and hand out takers.

  • This isn't a valid criticism for many reasons. One, Galt's Gulch is not a talk radio response to anything. It's easy to take any idea of merit, associate it with Rush Limbaugh and then discard it. Try to understand the argument and then respond. Secondly, the men who Galt removes from society are those who everyone else depends on. No one depends on a Subway worker. And minimum wage won't be worth anything when the dollar crashes from over-inflation. Read the book again without prejudice.

  • @JacobRainey08, The point of the choice of a worker at Subway is part of the parody. Those who identify with John Galt think of themselves as so highly capable that they automatically bring worth to Galt's Gulch. Rand never sets any criteria for admission to this imaginary elite. And even if she did, applicants would bring SUBJECTIVE judgments that they match up to them. Her "objectivist" philosophy is predicated on wishful subjective judgments. Makes it kind of self-contradictory.

  • @JacobRainey08 "No one depends on a Subway worker. "

How the Hell are you going to get sandwiches at Subway without someone to make it for you?

    You don't make any sense...

  • @JacobRainey08

The hilarious thing about Atlas Shrugged is that it assumes that some people are not dispensable. Everyone is dispensable. Every arrogant "super-producer" is merely holding back another individual who can do the same thing better than they can, but hasn't yet. Secondly, who in their right mind having read Atlas Shrugged once would ever willingly read the horrible turgid thing again ? It was snore boring when I didn't know the ending.

  • @JacobRainey08

The Queen is nothing without the thousand of workers and soldiers.

  • Brilliant satire, absolutely brilliant.

    Bravo!!

  • Thank you mr. gnome, very helpful.

Your analyses of a 1,042 page body of work that created an intellectual revolution, a new political party as well as a new philosophy was brilliantly summed in your ignorant statement. You should pat yourself on your back for having briefly glanced through Noam Chomsky's critique of Atlas Shrugged rather than reading for yourself & coming up with an original thought. Then, instead of embarrassing yourself you would've discovered the real point of the book.

  • Shorter ChornyiKot

wank wank wank wank wank wank

  • @ChornyiKot , it took over 55 years for the 1042 pages to be distorted into a political party that does not have an ideological basis. All it has is anger. In its search for an ideological basis, it has chosen a work of fiction, open to subjective interpretation. That work is Atlas Shrugged. The notion that the big-brained can or will collude is a wet dream. They cannot even identify themselves, let alone act outside the corrupt system.

  • Youtube Presents: Real Men of Genius

    (Real men of Genius)

Today we salute you, Mr. Subway Sandwich Artist!

    (Mr. Subway Sandwich Artist!)

Standing for hours behind a counter, you give customers the footlongs they deserve...for minimum wage.

    (Extra cheese please!)

Sure a single sandwich costs more than you'll make in an hour.

    (MAKING ENDS MEET!)

But now you're going to a capitalist paradise where silly things like a minimum wage won't stand in the way of your prosperity!

    (Going Galt!)

  • So keep on making videos, big brains. 'Cause we all know, when the easily replaceable unskilled workers get a tax cut, the easily replaceable unskilled workers starve society of their valuable minds. What will America do without you?

    (Mr. Subway Sandwich Artist!)

  • "I have in my big brain Subway sandwich-making skills"

    Hilarious.

  • No wonder the Ratings were disabled, this video is an incoherent collection of every collectivist stereotype in a strange attempt to discredit a work the producers clearly do not understand. It is what normal people call "A straw man argument".

  • No, I think it's a pretty accurate summation of a nonsensical so-called "philosophy."

  • Really? perhaps you can enlighten us by defining the meaning of "Philosophy" and Objectivism and then educate us as to how Objectivism doesn't meet with the definition of philosophy. Maybe you can teach us the true meaning of a standardized philosophy and in doing so, educate us all as to how Ayn Rand fails to meet your guidelines. Like the producers of this silly video, you have neither read any of her works, nor have you educated yourself beyond whatever government training you've received.

  • Perhaps I can help.

Libertarians are people who agree with everything Republicans do, but don't call themselves Republicans because they still want some hope of getting laid.

    Hope this helps.

  • This does indeed help, it identifies you as an ignorant bigot. Fools like you always revert to sexual innuendo as though it somehow makes up for your lack of intelligence. You are a blistering idiot and now every subsequent reader sees you for what you are.

    So, thank you.

  • Perhaps a slightly more helpful explanation

Atlas Shrugged posits that the world is full of blithering morons except for a rare brilliant few who drive our entire economic system and without them the other 95% of the population would starve to death. This is shown quite blatantly in the text:

  • "They've tried to, but . . . Nobody knows how it got out, but it went through the mills like one of those

furnace break-outs, the word that he'd gone, and then . . . before anyone could stop it, a whole bunch of

them vanished! The superintendent, the chief metallurgist, the chief engineer, Rearden's secretary, even

the hospital doctor! And God knows how many others! Deserting, the bastards!... He's quit and the rest are quitting and those mills are just left there, standing."

  • This is the money shot of the novel above....the problem is in the *real world* the following paragraph would be:

"So the junior metallurgist was promoted, and we have a few engineers we're looking at to replace the other guy, and the board voted on someone to take over for Rearden....so this is a temporary setback, we should be fine in a week."

The video show's this very well....go Galt and there are twenty eager people who want to take that job you just quit.

  • L. Sprague DeCamp put it best, the people who think it would be great to go back to Medieval Times never think they'll be the serfs, the people who pine for the Roman Republic never think they'd be the slaves, and the ones who pine for the Victorian Era never think they'd be born in a workhouse to other debtors.

Besides, the world of Atlas is an antique world now... o re-enact Atlas Shrugged in todays world, well... what's the Mandarin equivalent of John Galt, Hank Rearden and Dagny Taggart

  • So did you "Go Galt" out of your job as a Subway Sandwich Artist yet?

  • If the value of a worker were really worth minimum wage, the government wouldn't have to force it to be so.
