Just curious on how to end this beanie...after doing the last chain 10, do I do another row of half double crochets or end it?

For the first 6 rows did you do double crochet and then switch to half double crochet or did you do half double crochet all the way through? If so do you still start off with a chain 4 at the beginning? I hope that mAde since..please respond and thank you. All your videos are wonderful.
