Carole King wrote the song for her 1989 album "City Streets", and the band "Air Supply" sang this song until 1991 for their album, so Carole Kings was the original version.
@freesoul150 actually, Russell Hitchcock (lead singer of Air Supply) sang in his solo album, circa 1988, the song "Someone Who Believes in You" by Carole King. Only years later, to gain notoriety of his solo work, the song was added to Air Supply's "Forever Love" greatest hits album (found on Disc 2). And, to digress a bit, "The Power of Love" which was written by Jennifer Rush, was sang first by Air Supply in their 1985 album, "Air Supply". Nothing is ever what it seems.
Just makes me cry. Discovered thos song trough Martha Wash and her beautiful cover. Never saw the video. Thanks for posting and sharing this soothing and caring piece that I just love.

City streets was the first album I bought in NYC. Got in the village from a used record store - that's long gone by now. This woman is excellent!
