  • It's very sad that Quaife LSD's suck on ice! I was going to buy one because where I live has alot of icy roads, but with Quaife when one wheel is on ice the other one will not spin! That's why M-cars use differentials with friction plates!

  • I meant dynoed

  • This is true I work for BMW we had some guy come in that dumped his 08 335 auto with catcack everything else stock 270whp in an auto! Almost from the factory

  • Finally got a Quaife diff fitted to my 1-series, absolutely loving it and would definitely recommend one to any BMW driver!

  • i think..when you have for example a 335i coupe without lsd than you can drift make burnouts donuts BUT not so spectaculair like one with lsd..exely lsd make your backsite from your car easyer to drift end it trows your backsite from your car its dangerouser i think but more fun..is this correct?

  • Chris you rock!

  • Thats British understatement right there. I kinda like how he doesn't try hard to impress & put on a show.

  • wonder is the Quiafe is any better than the LSD in the M3? OEM diffs can be a touch soft when compared to aftermarket.

    T

  • The quaife differential is far better than BMW's standard open diff, it automatically biases the torque between the rear wheels. Also it's is gear operated, rather than clutch plates so won't ever wear out. It's also more expensive to replace your worn out BMW diff than to buy a Quaife one!

  • the m3 has edc for the diff so in its stage2 setting i guess it would be better for drifting then most after market lsd

  • why the heck doesnt the 335i come with one instead? i mean, it should at least be an option

  • because BMW doesnt want the 335 to be a competitor with the m3 straight from the factory

  • whats the point in replying to my comment one year ago?

and making a simple LSD an option doesnt make it a competitor to the M at all

  • Haha indeed. I actually consider the 335i with and LSD and a tune (due to low psi boost) to be better then the M3. Not to mention you still save thousands.

  • @sk8more805

Exactly. Also why the 335i is (IN FACT) underrated by BMW. C&D as well as many other mags out there put the 335i at around 320hp-340hp stock vs 300hp BMW states it is. I dyno'd my (loaded except for winter and I-drive) Space gray 07' E92 335i while it was still stock...279.2rwhp (assuming 15% drivetrain loss, I was putting out 328.5hp at the crank)

  • what mean lsd?does it mean when cornering also 50% 50% or it juz like normal differential when corner it will 1 fast 1 slow?

  • Normal Diff only gives power to 1 rear wheel.

Limited Slip will power both rear wheels.

  • With an open differential, all of the torque will go to the wheel with the least traction, whereas a limited slip differential will never allow all of the power to go to one wheel, although it will allow most of it to go to one.

  • That limited slip differential they're talking about is a Quaife... available from Bird's in the UK, and from Autotech in the United States and Canada. If you don't have one, then you're not getting the most from your 335i!

  • I have been at Birds garage 2 weeks ago: my 5 series now has the Quaife LSD : AWESOME DEVICE!!

  • @Kriegpferd isn,t Quaife a torsen or helical differential?

  • Chris Harris İ love that guy. He know ewerything about cars!!

  • This guy talks way too much...

  • more than great

    I LOVE BMW :D

  • We all love BMW ;)

  • That isn't a BMW. It's a Hartge.

  • ^^^^

  • awesome drift!!!! cool car. love it
