  • i was at this game with my dad, and i clearly saw the ball clear the tree tops.

  • That was a great shot, this kid may have a bright future. If you want to see a true phenom, search keyword SLGBaseball to watch New York's #1 ranked Blue Chip prospect hit 2 home runs with a wood bat in one day. The 17-year-old lefty CF/P also throws a 90+ mph fastball. I'm sure they'll both get drafted.

  • hes wit the mets now

  • METS

  • That probably doesnt even hit the warning track at citi field. I'll take his arm though.

  • props to the mets for picking this kid...should be a goodie

  • Woh you should have gotten that on film.

    I did........

WOH i bet you were takin a picture.

    LOL :D

  • What about that Chris Richard Kid from New London who throws 96-99 MPH??? What happen to that Dude

  • Comment removed

  • FITCH ALL THE WAY CLASS OF 2006!!!

  • played against him my sophomore year in high school for woodstock...17 k's haha...i thought his deuce was more impressive than his fastball

  • "shoulda gotten that on film"

    in anger - "I DID"

  • GO VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES

  • i'm friends with his old team mate jesse hahn who plays at virginia tech awesome pitcher

  • hes my bro guys.. he topped out a 97 m/ph fastball 6 days ago. hes a prospect for sure

  • I smoked weed with this kid in high school hahaha thats funny.

  • I pitch also but dang he is good, I hit like 5 homers in a season

  • i got to play against him my freshman year, his senoir year.

  • the kid is actually a pitcher at UNC right now with a fastball at around 96 he will deff. be a first rounder

  • wish i could do that..

  • LEGIT

  • He has a really nice swing. If you pause it at 0:04, you can see he has perfect extension.

  • what high school did he go to?

  • Fitch in Groton CT

  • He played for Midland

  • i play in NYC. AND WE DONT USE METAL, NOT TAKING CREDIT FROM THIS GUY, BUT FROM MY EXPERIENCE WOOD GIVES DIFFERENT RESULTS.

  • i graduated same year as him, im from plainfield and we faced him back when he was a soph. and he still threw like 92. We played fitch my junior year but he played first. ANDDDDD matt swung a wood bat alot actually soooooooooo

  • Wood acually makes the ball go farther when the pitcher is pitching at speeds of 90+.

  • you are retarded if you think the ball travels further off a wood bat...figure it out.

  • great job matt..great form batting..stretching the box, good athletic position, and keeping that tricep firm. Great job!

  • everybody come out of the dugout like we've never seen a homerun before!

  • yeah it looks like a team has more class when they just congrat him in the dugout

  • Let me correct that previous statement he hit 99mph last week and a NY yankee scout later said it was 100mph.

  • i like theres so many peopple giving him grief

this kid is fucking like, 6'4 220 and throws a 96 mph fastball.

i live just outside of Groton and this kid has tremendous talent. luckily im too young ot have ever faced him. but theres another kid in our area, Dominic Leon, throws 91 mph and is only 17. eastern connecticut deserves a lot more credit for hte baseball talent we have.

  • southern california is the best :D

  • That was a blast.

  • hey if he doesnt enter the draft out of highschool... send him to L.S.U... one of the best programs in college baseball...

  • hes already a north carolina tar heel

  • bam

  • damn that was a fucking bomb

  • lol hes pitching right now in the cws against the bulldogs he just gave up a run, wonder who will win

  • HOLY S**T

  • Good shot....but check out the true phenom, Bryce Harper from Las Vegas. Google him.

  • we traveled to mysitc conn to play fitch and someother team this year.

kids a pretty good down there

  • "Whoa! you shoulda gotten that on FILM!"...."I did."

  • eaglesfan2008a where do you go...ive popped a few outta caa as well

  • Wow that was a shot. I am 14 Now but last year in school baseball when i was 13 i hit a homerun dead center outta a 355 field

  • i hit one about 350 over a 15 foot fence and onto train tracks at cheltenham park in philly, but that's nothing compared to this. WOW.

  • Thats at Jonathan Law Highschool in Milford, CT. That shot is easily 450+. I know this because my hisghschool baseball team played law.

  • Easily 450?....stop it, you're killing me!

My kids is 13 and has trouble hitting the fence at 325.....and he's a power hitter....

  • At 13 ur still a kid and havent even developed yet.

  • haha that discription means nothing to me (meaning I don't have a clue wat you're on about)

  • Quick hands, good balance, good follow through.... To fully utilize his full power potential though, he will be taught to have either a shorter stance with a good leg kick, not quite as high as a A-Rod, but he is a good example of what I mean or either more rotating back of the front hip with a little stride, watch David Wright, Or Upton of the D-Backs for examples. Any swing can work with a metal expecially if you have good bat speed, but it changes when you have to swing a wood. Adjustments

  • for those of you who think you know anything about a baseball swing, shut up. Don't analyze shit like you know anything because you don't. otherwise you wouldn't be on youtube watching high school home runs.

  • nice sweet compact swing, gl on your future.

  • he has a solid swing, but he could generate alot more power if he coiled more before the swing. He loaded up, but if he threw his waist at the ball, that thing would have gone well over 440ft. Hes a big kid too. and he kind of stopped his swing a little bit to. but all in all that was a shot and he can hit it, good job

  • Coiling also takes much more time.

  • 1. He's a pitcher

    2. He got a full ride to UNC.

    3. He got drafted in the second round.

    4. that went like 450.

  • lol. werd...

    that was a bomb.

    no doubt about it.

  • "Whoaaa, you should have gotten that on film". "...I did"

  • how big was that fence.

  • did i know he is a freshman ?

    no dumbass

  • i had to play against this kid. damn

  • i had to play against this kid. damn

  • alright , one good homerun , u shouldnt put phenom tho

  • according to the feb 25 - march 9 edition of Baseball America, matt harvey is the #1 overall college freshman baseball player in the nation. what would you call him?

  • one kick ass player lol

  • @billylee59

    call him a met?

  • no doubt a great swing with great results

  • what a rip

  • "bomb?"

  • holy crap

  • what a shot.

  • as a former resident of groton and a 2nd round pick to the astros..congrats to mr harvey on hitting a 'slower than molasses uphill' fastball. cmon people your little sister could have hit that ball to the outfield!

  • i guess you did'nt bother to read my other replys. watch the video again. the ball can only be seen leaving the bat. it was pitched hard enough not to be picked up be the camera. the left fielder and shortstop move only to watch the ball clear the tree tops. it was that obvious, that fast. again, you're right. high school pitchers hit 'em like that all the time.

  • 2nd round draft pick my ass

  • i feel so sad for that baseball

  • "shouldve got that on film...I did...I thought you were taking a picture" lmao

  • go cubss!!!

  • whoooaaa lol

  • mmmm unc is just stacked now

  • BOMBA! ha ha mmoultrie was funny but fuck off... it was a nice shot.. leave it at that dude. again BOMBA!

  • haha i agree with mmoultrie

  • man, he's just the greatest baseball player i've ever seen. and how he just crushed that 51 mile per hour fastball w/that aluminum bat? wow, i mean, it's almost impossible to hit a 50 mile per hour fastball. wow, let me restate my first thought...he's the greatest baseball player in the entire universe! PING (that's the sound of his aluminum bat crashing into a 50 mile per hour fastball).

  • lol that made my day:D

  • hahahaa

  • you're right.high school pitchers hit'em like that all the time.phyics 101,for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.only herman munster can hit a 50mph fastball that far.I never said matt was a great hitter, because he isn't.but he got lucky that day and hit one of the longest hr's that i've ever seen by a hs or ncaa player.

  • can't take nothing away from the kid, like antoniol05493 says, it was a bomba. i heard he got drafted in the early rounds so maybe we'll se him running into shots like that in the show.

  • theres my bro not harvy my bro went to the champs with him THEY ARE NUMBA 1 IN STATE OF CT

  • I played on his team and im in hes grade greatball player but an idiot turned down 1.5 mill to got to college instead of angels makes me want to breake his arm see how fast he can throw then.

  • how far was the fence?

  • Well, did they measure that blast? And how far did it go?

  • left center, the fence is 340'. the evergreen trees are 60' tall. beyond the trees is a storage lot for a construction company. the ball was retrieved and was found at the back of the lot against the fence.matt signed and dated the ball after the game.i did'nt have a tape measurer, but that ball was hit a long way.

  • haha i can say i know the kid too ive gone to school with him since middle school. hes just 2 grades above me.

  • hes so cool hes cousin is like my best friend

  • He got all of that.

  • damn i heard bout him but i never saw him play cuz i from windsor and we never played fitch but he seems to b as good as ive heard

  • LMFAO. Thta dude sounded pissed... "I DID".

  • i go to fitch

  • Matt Harvey kicks ass
