He looks like me when i run...i know it sounds wierd to say. XD But he's so determined and he go's so fast and it's so effortless that his legs almost can't get undr him fast enough for the next foot fall. He really is an amazing horse, and your story about him really touched me. :) Best of luck to you two!
I tried this, my horse was perfect the first time. Best feeling in the world. Second time he thought he'd buck and I came off and broke my collar bone. Just wish he behaved as nice as your horse... maybe one day.
Awesome. Looks fun. :) I'm not telling you what to do, but helmets are awesome. The last time I ever galloped I fell, landed on my head and bled out of my ears-- I'd be dead if I didn't have a helmet. Now I'm just brain damaged. lol
@graciep06 It's actually alot easier to sit on a horse that's going full speed, the back barely moves at all, and the horse seem closer to the ground. The change from full speed to gathered canter, or a stop, is a bit more tricky though :)
when you think about it indians were the first people to ride horses (i think=)) and they didnt have saddles so wouldnt bareback be the original way of riding lol!!=)
my pony has a habit of buckin when i ride bareback, SCARY! but i still do it lol :P you are a very good rider as u just sit there and urge :) well done x
that's brilliant! Looks so much fun :) I've only really ridden bareback a few times on my friends 13hh pony. When they first got her, they didnt have a saddle so we just rode her bareback for a while, I only ever done walk and trot, but I found it really tricky. It didnt help that she was pretty overweight, so she was incredibly round and bouncy haha. Is it easier in gallop?
Aussom do you do western?I do english riding . Yesterday my friend and I went riding bitless and where basically galloping! But I am always the do do do person and she is sortove no I'm abit skaird of it . Sorry of spelling
oh gorgeous horse i love (her?) color! appaloosa? shes got a really nicce build too very muscular she looks like u put alot of good training or sheer funn into her! haha i have a thoroughbred myself... he is gorgeous... dont mean to brag but i luv him i have to! heyy email me back ive goty another question for u! dont worry im not a wierdo! great vid!
Today on the 1/02/2012 i have rode a horse and his name was Nuggets he's a poney not small he was excellent but he never lisen's when u ask him to canter and i rode him bareback and was so fun
I use to be able to ride bareback until I had an horse accident..I got thrown off and did a flip in the air and I landed right on my butt..The impact was so hard that it fractured my tail bone..so now I can only use a bareback pad..which I hate..I can only walk when i'm on bareback..anything above a walk i have to use a bareback pad:(
I used to ride bareback like that! I would do crazy stuff on the horse with no saddle, had really great balance, we used to play bareback tag on horses and dodge each other full speed! One day I was loping bareback in my round pen and slipped off the sweaty horse... hit a post hard, almost broke my back. SO I ride bareback still, but I am more cautious, and it took me a long time before I rode bareback again. I always use helmets now, because I am mostly starting colts, and have been saved alot.
In Sweden it's not so hard to ride bareback. We do it often and it's just as easy as riding with a saddle. So ride one day with saddle and the next bareback and you'll get use to it! ^^
Wow you have such a cool horse i love riding bareback its so much fun. I have a small pony who absolutely loves doing this you get so much thrill from it :D
My horse would absolutly LOVE to do this. He loves to run and hates it when I tak ehim bareback because I can only run along the road where there are things for him to spook at so he can only go full out when I have a saddle. It's a lot of fun...just terrible influence on his western pleasure training. lol (and if they run fast enough my mother says they don't feel like they're moving at all. Very smooth ride. :) Its just when they spook that things can get instersting...)
I've ridden bareback for most of my life. I've always felt the most secure when riding bareback. When breaking in a new horse, or riding a frisky one, I feel less likely to get tossed off when bareback. I only resorted to a saddle when I got older and couldn't 'hop' up onto the horse without some sort of boost or step-up--nothing worse than dismounting someplace and not being able to get back on easily. I found that my English saddle feels most like bareback to me.
WOW people, riding bareback isn't that hard. The more you ride (bareback) the easier it is. I honestly prefer bareback, even when breaking horses because I can feel what they're gonna do sooner. Bareback riding is THE BOMB! :)
If you are BAD at riding (bareback) it is not good on their backs, but if you are a good rider, then you won't hurt your horse. If you knew anything about riding bareback, you wouldn't have commented soooooooo negatively. Have a nice life!
@SamCowgirl658 actually, riding does hurt a horse back anyway. The saddle just emm... distributes your weight on it's area and saves horse back from any hits of your pelvis (or whatever your ass is, lol). You better rewise your physics knowlege and take care of your horse. If you knew anything about riding bareback, you would not have told me that. Bye-bye!
Ummm, like OK, who the hell are you. True, horses weren't designed to be ridden. Riding horses at a too early age or racing them when their super young, now THAT hurts them. If a horse were truly hurt by a person riding them, then they would not let you on them. Get a life and Fuck off, BITCH!
@SamCowgirl658 AHAHA, baby, don't be so nervous. And silly. Get more information about horses and their psychology (only idiots think they are real cowboys only because they can sit on a horse). I assure you, you will find a lot of new things.
Ya know what's funny? The fact that you're ragging on this crap and I don't see any videos of YOU riding horses or anything. As far as I'm concerned you have no room to talk as you have no vids of YOU riding, or even that you have any horses.
@SamCowgirl658 Do you really think I have time for uploading vids? I have a job and looking after my horse takes much time (yes, and sometimes I chat with people like you). So if you prefer to live online - go on babe. At list me, my family and my friends (and my horse, haha) know that I can ride. I do that because I love it, not because I want to receive comments like "gosh, you are amazing!!1" "love your horse!". Come on, I dont need that bullshit. Got it? ;)
Thats amazing that you can Gallop full speed and not fall off, Im finally gettin there, i have galloped, but not full speed, but with snow on the ground,i dont run my horse that much, only if i know for sure there is NO ice, lol
@TigersUnleashed *forget my last response. It's when you have one leg in front of the girth and the other behind, and you switch them so the first leg is behind. Well, that's what google told me..
@innocentpie ahh.. okay. my grandma is here and she is a great horse rider. she said that a flying lead change is when u tell ur horse to change leads without stopping. it might be the same thing ur telling me.. idk. thanks for the help though!
@TigersUnleashed a lead is when they have the left or right front hoof hitting the ground last and they jump up in the middle of a stride and switch to the other foot.
@Dandyizbeast OOHHH!!!! derp. i get it now. thx! i'm gonna start riding again on Monday, so excited to put my new knowledge to the test. i stopped riding for about a year, cuz of finance issues. i have learned SO much since then, and now i'll be a much better rider and the horse won't try to buck me off this time cuz i yanked on her mouth too much. lol XD
@TigersUnleashed it's when (on command) the horse jumps up off of the ground in mid stride and lands with the opposite hooves hitting the ground. Like if their front right hoof is hitting the ground last (right lead) then they jump up in the middle of a stride (from the back leg hitting the ground to the front leg hitting the ground, in case ur wondering) and and go to the left front hoof hits the ground last.
Wow! You and your horse are goergous! :) I just got a new horse and he is 7/8 quarter horse and 1/8 thouroughbred, do you have any tips for staying on bareback? Lol sorry fro the suchh stupid question! :) I always fall of! :) lol Yall Are Amazing! :)
@MsBreyergirl1998 You should just work on your position and core strength! do lots and lots of sitting trot! and trotting without stirrups/reins. It can be super boring sometimes but doing it for 20 minutes a day/every few days can really help :)
Holy crap you have a seat of steel! You're amazing, wish I had the guts, I only just have the confidence to gallop my pony across open fields since he's bronked me off every other time I've tried! Hahaa ignore the haters you and this pony are awesome!
to 1997ponylover ... do u know what sarcasum is? And yes, she did have a good seat, but my friend and i have done that, and other stunts for years... i think i know what im talking about.

Like if their front right hoof is hitting the ground last (right lead) then they jump up in the middle of a stride (from the back leg hitting the ground to the front leg hitting the ground, in case ur wondering) and and go to the left front hoof hits the ground last.

You must have the strongest thighs and abs in the world. Puts me to shame, I guess I should start riding bareback, I'm a lazy English saddle user :)

@AnimalGuardian71
You should because bareback riding makes you better no matter what discipline you ride. You will be surprised at how your balance improves! :D

MsBreyergirl1998 1 month ago
@MsBreyergirl1998 You should just work on your position and core strength! do lots and lots of sitting trot! and trotting without stirrups/reins. It can be super boring sometimes but doing it for 20 minutes a day/every few days can really help :)
