  • Tomo was enjoying himself even back then. I love that guy, he's always SOO cheerful while playing (even if the songs are sad :D) He's class and I'm quite sad he left Lisa's band but on the other hand I wish him the best with his family...Long live Tom Osander! :)

  • fuck, lisa looks uncomfortable here. id hate to have to sing those songs.

  • linda linda linda a musica*-*

  • Soulful voice.

  • They play both (1) cannonball and (2) coconut skins.

  • Two of his best songs, oh. (But aren't they all his best?) I especially love this version of Coconut Skins.

and 4:58 haha! At least he has his sailboat now (:

  • lisa is beautiful, inside and out. i will miss her without Damien Rice :(

  • First song is cannonball, second song is coconut skins! It even says like D:

  • @imamacyoureapc ...feckin eejits haha! cant believe people dont even know the names :O

he's such a legend makes me proud to be from dublin!

  • but he is from kildare..... so?

  • @garrethdavis hes from kildare... lol

  • this is song is not coconut skins, seasymbol is right, its cannonball

  • Guys!!!! The song called

    CANNONBALL!!!!

  • the song is `Coconut Skins`

  • whats the name of the song at 6;15 ??? anyone

  • coconut skins

  • In my opinion, it is impossible not to like Damien Rice! :)

  • met Damien & crew in Memphis a while back. had the good fortune to hang out w/ him backstage after the show at the Orpheum, and he ended up playing 3 songs on MY guitar! complete magic.

    cold water

    amie

    hallelujah

he played hallelujah bc my friend & I mentioned we'd come to Memphis to pay homage to Jeff Buckley, who had drowned there 10 yrs before.

It was quite a gift on top of an already amazing show. very gracious man. beautiful artiste.

I hope I meet him again one day!

    cheers, darlings!

    ;-)

  • You like jeff?

  • @sweden92

<3 Jeff. I've played a couple tribute shows, one of which I hosted. :-D

  • @baronmorris What's he like?

  • @VamLoveAndKisses

he's such an intense and sensitive guy... very deferential yet honest in conversation. and definitely sincere, not phony... soft-spoken and fairly diminuative in large groups without his guitar to hide behind, shrinking back somewhat from the more vivacious people in the room... but when he grabbed my guitar, he seemed to grow to giant size to match his huge voice (as if to illustrate this, everyone in the room SAT DOWN - lol - amazing) <3 him.

  • prefer when he plays cannnonball solo, , but good video nonetheless

  • j blunt said himself on top gear his songs ar crap, cant tink he`d hav too much passion after saying that

  • Comment removed

  • dont really remember, i tink some1 said Blunt is a more passionate musican than D Rice, some bull like that anyway

  • Comment removed

  • Why would you care about that?? Shallow bastard

  • Oh that really matters...right.

That's also your opinion and not fact BTW...what are you anyway the fashion police? Music is for listening.

  • Comment removed

  • Very true. But easier said than done.

  • leave lisa alone..she's a beauty and an amazing musician

  • Comment removed

  • i second that..

  • i third it

  • i like this man very much, he's music is a easy hearing pop melodic folk combination, i love it

  • I remember seeing this on irishtv when i was really young it seems and wondering who he was and tring to work out whether I wanted to like his music or not, I was so musically immature it's not funny!

  • CAMES JUNT

  • They are talking about sailing ^^ *haha*

    I ♥ Damien Rice

  • Damien Rice is THE best singer/songwriter around now.

  • He is very good as the Crank Zappa fan tells us.

  • I prefer Damien Pasta myself

  • Ha very good.

  • yeah nick drake - couldnt really compare him to rice - though hes a decent enough songwriter hes no nick drake

  • Damien Rice so nice music!!

  • Is there any way I could get the whole of this performance+interviews as one file?

  • nick drake... legend... no way can blunnt be compared to Damien ... its just wrong...

  • Totally true. Blunt is nothing compared to Damien.

  • hehe that's me sitting on front left in audience - yes, the bald guy :) Was a great gig ..

  • Thanks for posting the set of clips from these sessions. Damien Rice is a god amongst men.

  • is lisa just sitting there or is she acutally playing the guitar in this clip? I dont know why but i find it so wierd that she just sits there looking bored or in a trance! you see it more in one of the other clips.

  • She is playing the guitar, but it is just the repetitive "ting" you hear. It allows Damien to jam his riff. You don't hear that in other unplugged versions. When she leaves the stage, people go to the bathroom. Having her in the song makes people listen.

  • His opinion, let him have it.

  • haha there is no point in comparing james blunt and damien rice- james blunt is pop music

damien rice is just better,in every way, and i think him and ray are two amazing musicians.

the only other people comparable (for this type of music) are jeff buckley and leonard cohen.

  • there is one other man who can be named alongside damien rice actually...the man who actually inspired Rice, a man whose songs are even more melodic, he commited suicide as a youngster yet released three superb albums of pain and love lost, and many tracks secretly planning his suicide. This british man's name is NICK DRAKE.

  • aww i can just see damien sailing around ireland.. that man is my hero!

  • what the hell?!?! james blunt and damien rice... thats like comparing a twizler to idk creme brulee... damien blows james blunt out of the water! although i can see how the similarities can be seen.... kinda..... maybe.... sorry bopjay... no i cant... but nice input!

  • the only name worthy of mentioning in the same sentence as Damien is Ray Lamontagne (and maybe Jeff Buckley)...and the duett with Damien and Ray... listen to that and enjoy if you haven't already seen it! Two masters in perfect coherence

  • Great thing, didn't know that record. Lamontagne looks a little like Woody Harrelson if he had a beard :D

  • Lmao. James Blunt, passionate? The dick can't even WRITE songs... Three wise men have a semi by the sea? Wtf?

  • to the retard who mentioned damien rice and james blunt in the same sentence.your actually declaring your a fan of that horse shit. well done.

  • LOL. Trying hard not to condone the insult. Trying hard not to condone the insult. Sorry, yeah, you're right.

  • JAMES CUNT!

  • Lisa Hannigan's voice helps Rice transcend the fate of a "tattered coat upon a stick". Hannigan's "louder sing" is proof of her own poetic genius. It seems to springs from an Irish soul as lovely, wise and universal as Damien Rice's.

  • Another Irish poet of genius (Make no mistake,

Damien Rice is an Irish poet of genius) wrote

that "man is but a paltry thing, / A tattered

coat upon a stick, unless / Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing / For every tatter in

its mortal dress..." Damien Rice's soul claps

its hands and sings more beautifully, more eloquently, more powerfully than any of his contemporaries (save, perhaps, for Regina Spektor) giving a voice to many souls who have not, or cannot, find theirs.
