Please do not say that all people in the Canadian egg industry are 'animal torturers.' I have grown up on an egg farm my whole life, and I hope to someday manage that farm. I will admit that this farm is a disgrace, this farmer should not be raising chickens. But if you were to come into our barn you would see a whole different picture. It is very unfortunate that this one farm, this one bad apple, has tainted all of the egg industry.
the only way to ensure the eggs you guy are NOT from conditions like this are to either raise them yourself or buy them from a farmer who will show you how his chickens are raised. Don't even trust labels on egg cartons as they are misleading as well.
Does anyone know the current condition of this facility? Has anything changed? This was screened and discussed at a very recent event so I suspect they have not.
I am devoted to some day opening a farm sanctuary. I promise.
It's SO SAD that nearly all hens raised for egg-laying are kept like this hellish warehouse. He's no farmer, he's an animal torturer as are most people in the Canadian egg industry.
Hens are ground up alive in Manitoba, and millions of male chicks are ground up alive every year in Canada. The egg industry is totally heartless. And now they're "sponsoring" spelling bees to try to clean up their ugly image and hook kids on a lifetime of egg eating. Poor spelling kids are getting used!
When are these people posting comments going to realize you can't paint all farmers with the same brush? Just like you can't say all Canadians are murderers just because there is one murderer in jail. You will always find a bad apple in a bunch. I wish the people that post these videos showed content from more then one farm and you will get a lot better picture of farming in general.
Contact your local lawyer who does work for animal rights, dont kill any human, but go in there, get all the chickens out, then load them onto a big truck, take them out to someone who has acres, who has a big barn, where they can retire, and live out side too, have freedom, and never let them be found. You can always tie the farmers up while your doing all this, then have a lawyer ready to go, in case you get caught. he can bring public attention to it if you do get caught, which is good!
in KFC they throw chickens that are alive at the wall till they are dead :( and they stamp on them till they are dead :( this is why Crumblecity (team Name:Animals let free) (alf) will make the animals free
eeerhhh actually, I take that back, that was not very nice, I was just angry, I don't want Mad Chickens disease to take over in the masses. OK I take that back. May the world just wake up. WAKE UP PEOPLE and realise that all the pain and suffering in this world is a reflection of what we do to thoes who have no voice.
tell you what this made me really up set. so i am going to work for a farm and assinate the farm man and let all the animals free. but first i need a team. tell me if you want to join
As you can say, I took that comment back 2 weeks ago, I was just angry, but your just as bad for saying what I said, if not worse! Direct your anger at people who hurt other Beings not people who are already hurting by all the already hurt.
Do any of you idiots know what happens when you bring a light into a barn in the middle of the night? Chickens panic, because it is out of their routine. Get better informed before you make comments.
Canada, don't ever expect me to respect you as a country again. You allow this dreadful treatment. You are worse than scum. Your Goverment should protect chickens by law. If one pet was treated like this their owners would be heavily fined. Always refuse to buy battery eggs. They could easily be the cause of many of our modern day cancers.
So much of the videos are shown to expose the American farming industry...thank you for brining the Canadian farming industry to light. Because now that I have learned about the truth I have become a responsibe consumer and a vegan! Thanks...from Vancouver B.C.
If you can, just get off the grid and raise your own organic produce and raise some chickens in your backyard to help out with fertilizer and insect control. There is a great video guide out called Regarding Chickens, check it out and see how YOU can do it. vote with your dollar and be healthy
I've got a petition going againts battery farming in the UK. watch my film 'The Good Shopper' for details on signing the petition. Just click on my name badboypass and watch 'The Good Shopper'
This film is about layer chickens (chickens that lay eggs) and 98% of all eggs in Canada come from chickens in this condition. You are talking about broiler chickens (chickens raised for meat). Why is it that farmers always claim that they know so much yet they always make stupid mistakes like the one you just did. Broilers are for meat and layers are for eggs. Get it? It shouldn't be that difficult!
in Canada their are TWO types of chicken farms..brioler breeders and broilers. broiler breeder farms raise fertilized eggs (therefore in order for the eggs to be fertilized the chickens must be bred by roosters so they cannot be in battery cages)the eggs produced here are then hatched and sent to broiler farms where they grow up to be eaten....so no you cannot generalize. a proper understanding of how the poultry industry works is needed
There are actually THREE types of chicken farms: broilers (standard meat chickens); broiler breeders (chickens raised for fertilized eggs to supply the broilers); and egg farms (battery hens). This video is about battery hens on an egg farm that produces eggs for sale in supermarkets. Almost all chickens used on large commercial farms are leghorns, be they broilers or battery hens.
This is not how it happens, and in order for Broiler breeder Farms to work, the hens cannot be locked up..THEY NEED TO BE BRED! dont be so GULLIBLE PEOPLE...this video is just of one Farm, I own 40% OF THE CHICKEN idustry in Saskatchewan and I attend meetings several times a year and this does not occur in SK or AB or on any BROILER breeder FARM!
This is truly WRETCHED. But, it can be eliminated without giving up eggs. Buy only CERTIFIED cage-free eggs. A family in my town dealt with the problem by getting their own laying hens as pets, and collecting their eggs. It's a nice life for the birds and fun for the kids!
This video is really horrible, but there is no visual evidence that it is related to the canadian egg industry. It looks more like a really bad private farm.
It is scenes such as this - showing the atrocities that go on in the food industry - that make me glad I and my husband are vegans. I just wish that more people would open their eyes and hearts to the horror.
Its aboot time to save those chickens eh?

@robert123447 Sorry, robert, but the truth is that 99% of the egg industry does work exactly as shown in the video. It is not just a "bad apple".
