  • Easy Rider!

  • the new Bruce Springsteen!

  • love the fact that he didnt skip verses and that he paid a great song that much respect

  • angst about popular social issues that too many people whine about but don't change their own lives to make better anyway. But thats just me. You have your priorities. I love gaslight's musicality and even the subject matter way way more myself but thats cool. Both are good bands, both contribute musicly, and both have their place.

  • Rise against is a protest band. Very topical, and those topics have meaning for people that are involved in those issues, but this is classic stuff, and gaslights' lyrics are just as meaningul to people that can identify with....the liftestyles...I guess....of the songs they sing. Its like comparing apples to chevys. Totally different thing. To me gaslight singing aobut sneaking out the bedroom window or driving around in classic cars means more than....

  • hahahahha i clicked on cool3929 's page and his main video is TREATY OF PARIS. get the fuck out. you wouldn't know good music if it slapped you in the face. and as far as rise against goes...GREAT BAND. and they would personally kick you in the nuts for saying anything negative about GA.

  • I want to win the lottery so that I can pay Brian Fallon to play his guitar and sing me to sleep every night.

  • This guys a beast !!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I had a dream that Brian Fallon was beating Rebbeca Black to death with his guitar. If only...

  • Nice lava lamp haha!

  • I really don't see how anyone can say anything negative about Brian Fallon or The Gaslight Anthem. The album 'The 59 Sound' is probably one of the best albums released this century. They are the torchbearers of New Jersey's punk rock scene. I also consider them seminal because compared to a lot of other bands getting as much recognition as they do, they actually have heart felt lyrics, aren't overproduced, and construct simple, but loaded songs.

  • I clicked on this video because I thought it just might be a cover of the Thrice song of the same name. Glad I stayed on the page though.

  • love it - fabulous voice......... but really .... LOSE the CAP!! You really don't need that. x

  • @alisonsalthouse i always wonder why people wonder about such stuff...who really cares about what they wear...he's not wearing baggy pants and thats fine and in the end it's about the awesome music. and he sure won't lose that cap, his wife gave it to him.

  • Take a load of fanny. Take a load for free...

I'm joking, I know the words. I love this song, both versions. Peace out.

  • F-ing beautiful. God I HOPE this is where music is headed. If we're still playing shit like Linkin Park and Disturbd on the radio these guys deserve their own station.

  • @Schpinki Hey, don't diss other music. Just learn to appreciate what you like, and let others enjoy their own music.

  • @goremi Point taken.

I just get really sick of groups that all seem to sound the same to me, I'm excited about something new but you are right, the only problem with music that I don't like is that I haven't learned to appreciate it and I'm glad you're able to find value in things that I haven't. Obviously there are quite a few people who appreciate it or it wouldn't be on the radio.

Still though, excited about this group :)

  • this is my favorite version of this song , i can see brian sitting on a porch somewhere singing this , dont kno why , just do hahaha

  • @2112murphy It's been done. :) Brian has done a couple CCR tunes now.

  • @2112murphy /watch?v=KnXwwuTewAE Just incase you haven't seen it...

  • good god this is incredible

  • know this song, never knew the title. so glad I clicked this link.

  • man ive seen alot of covers of this song , including jimmy page jack white and u2's the edge in the movie 'it might get loud' but noone, noone can sing it with the soul levon helm does, and i am a huge gaslight fan

  • @luke22ification i agree. i've even seen videos of robbie robertson try to sing it after the band broke up, and he couldn't do it as well as levon. that being said, i think that brian fallon does good job, though i do think this version is just a little too mellow.

  • Good, but the Band version is still the best

  • Incredible. So pleasing to my ears.

  • holy crap, my favorite band covering my favorite song? How did I miss this until now...?

  • @chopsie01 I was wondering the same thing! Such a great song and such a great cover.

  • Great cover. Brian's cover of hallelujah is amazing. He's got a voice full of pain yet sincerity.

  • Wow. unbelievable.

  • i almost like this better than the orginal i think .... just because of its simplyness really displays the point of the song

  • Can someone tell me what tuning he is in. He Plays this song with different chords than I play this song. I like it this way..True Musician

  • @Premo815 he's just playing in a different key, same progression.

  • @Premo815 he's in standard tuning but he's playing in the key of g

  • My daughter turned me onto Gaslight Anthem, and I found this while looking for more about them.... great version of an old tune...

  • amazing cover!!! gives me chills everytime!

  • @Saralaralyn - It wont let me post a link, but put this into the search field.... Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) - "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" 1/15 Bowery Ballroom

  • @2112murphy - He does. Just search for the bowery ballroom vids

  • oh my godd i love this. my grandpa got me into this song years ago and now someone i like's doing an amazing cover of it..how great is that...nice job i love it :)

  • I saw "It Might Get Loud" with Jimmy Page, Jack White, and The Edge, and they covered this amazingly. But I absolutely love The Gaslight Anthem, and this is great.

  • i cant believe he's doin a cover of " The Band" they are a great band from the 70's. this song is one of my favorites

  • That 3929 bitch is as ignorant as a kkk member in a KFC. And I'm pretty sure those are the lyrics of the new rise against single.

  • He looks a lot like Jason Mewes!

  • Jay sure can sing

  • @Vinny0151 his names brian ......

  • this is the good shit

  • What are the chords for this?

  • Its G then Bm then C and for the chorus it G ,D and then C

  • Thank you very much. :)

  • awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • man, i hope at some point they put this on an album. even as a bonus track. Itunes or something.

  • Dude I'd love it if Brian or Gaslight did an acoustic album with acoustic versions of their songs and covers... like Tin Pan Alley, The Blues, Mary, this one, Halleljuah, plus their songs... I love his voice and his passion and it stands out even more against an acoustic guitar

  • it says it in the description. its the weight by the band

  • The Weight by The Band

  • Comment removed

  • Sweet cover. Up the Gaslight!

  • check out brians new cover on myspace! search TGLA acoustic

  • Great cover of a great song

  • Glad he figured out where "Once Upon a Time" came from

  • @puddingmonster "Once Upon a Time" is cover too

  • This is a damn good cover! Reminds me of the solo acoustic version Rick Danko used to do.

  • what a stupid arguing was going on here...had to read all 63 comments..some1 said RA lyrics are emo..pls give me a proof, i think i have heard all the songs and read all the lyric and none are emo (not like emotional, but emo like fag attention seekers), they do fking black flag covers XD..and i'm just starting to love TGA, discovered them a week ago, quickly downloaded discography and now i'm enjoying..so stfu, stop arguing,if u don't like it listen sthg else, don't bother me with it, and enjoy

  • this is the first song I heard after The Pope died.

  • Fucking good.

  • fender, do you have any idea what you are talking about.

  • Wow, this is a great cover!

  • Cool3929, Rise Against is an amazing band, truth is they play two different styles of music, and this isn't even Brian's own song, so don't judge the lyrics based on him. And these are quite powerful lyrics.

  • i think "The Band" would be proud of this cover...

  • my god this is a good argument. dont mind my gay faggoty insertion (teehee) into the conversation but cool3929 you were just saying how much more meaningful rise against lyrics are. theyre a band who preaches against homophobia and other problems caused by small and narrow minds. if theyre lyrics are so meaningful to you, why does all of your comments refer to everyone as faggots? meaningful and intelligent lyrics are only useful when the listener has the intelligence to understand them.

  • i agree completely. Rise against writes lyrics against people that are narrow minded and hateful. cool3929 should see the irony in calling people faggots and retards to defend RA.

And for the record, I love rise against. but appeal to reason was a bunch of recycled cliches with catchy choruses. TGA have much more heart, its refreshing

  • well thats one jackass' opinion...

  • where shall i send the medical bill then? i personally was 100% sold on this band when bruce springsteen approved of them. so if someone like him approves, i think its save to say they have talent. and lets hear your music verses them? also, why are you watchin the video of you hate them so much??

  • lmfao at you, you actually think something coporate is a good band, and still have the courage to say TGA is the worst. LMFAO@YOU

  • Doesn't the fact that you think Jack's Mannequin is good totally knock out all of your credibility?

  • I like all kinds of TALENTED people, please refer to my previous post about Andrew McMahon who has more talent and courage than these 4 talentless people will ever have. The fan base of McMahon is in the millions, when will these guys ever see that? NEVER.

  • Popularity =/= Talent.

Again, when you think it does, credibility flies out the window pretty fast.

  • YEP

  • the gaslight anthem-talentless?

    fuck off

  • no rock band is talentless. No matter how corny and cheesey they may seem, they write their own songs, play instruments and actually sing, unlike other "musicians" like Britney Spears.

  • the gaslight anthem are amazing

  • wow is this guy a tool or what?

  • No, I have an opinion like you, I think that you have no respect at all. Obviously, you don't see talent and you think I don't. We can keep going if you want..

  • gwor up kid...Your watching a band that you think is the "worst band ever" and commenting on them! Who does that? really? You need to get a life. Not to mention an education..What did momy not love you enough? Or did she love her brother too much and your the inbreed spawn she delivered? We can keep going if you want..

  • You are talking about inbred people? Look in the mirror faggot. Yeah, you make it personal when I try to make a comment lastly that had nothing to do with you. That's mature you fucking waste of human life. Go get the swine flu with the rest of your ignorant slow retarded famuily that doesn't deserve to live because they can't raise someone the right way and make the rest of us happy. Thanks.

  • honestly. you are a disgrace to rise against. just knowing people who speak as you do like that band makes me sick knowing that i actually enjoy them

  • cool is so full of fail it's hilarious. ROAR HE THINKS HE'S GETTING HIS POINT ACROSS BY TYPING IN CAPS!.

Man, kids these days are fucking retarded.

  • Actually, I am a woman and I have seen them many times open for bands that I have seen and they are terrible live and completely talentless.

  • Why the fuck are you watching this video if you think they have no talent? These guys are in NO way a scene band. These guys actually play good music with something behind it. You obviously lack any shred of musical intelligence it would take to realize that. Now go listen to your emo, cry baby, boo hoo, bull shit and GTFO!!

  • I have seen them many times, I NEVER said they were "scene" did I. Don't be a fucking fag by saying something I didn't. I gave them a chance many times as openers at shows, they sound terrible, there is no talent to their songs. If you know anything about people, they like many different types of music, I like everything there is with very few exceptions, if GA could find someone that doesn't sound like a fucking idiot with a frog in his throat or a cock for that matter, I might think try.

  • GTFO troll!

  • I will get out once people realize what I am saying is true. I promise.

  • No one is gonna listen to you. We are watching this video because we want to listen to great cover of this song, not to listen to you. We don't care what you think about the gaslight anthem

  • you are a homo phobic person. you do not have an idea what good music is. i love both rise against and the gaslight anthem, and tim from rise against would probably laugh at the comment listed above, or get pissed for the ignorant language used. rise against would be ashamed to have a closed minded person like you listen to their music

  • rise against, that is completely talentless.

  • Rise Against has more meaningful lyrics than these 4 will EVER imagine. You are an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow your a fucking spastic!

  • i have all Rise against Albums AND all Gaslight Anthem's.

they are both completely different, but listen to Tim sing Everchanging and listen to Brian and they are both extremely talented. Take your negativity elsewhere, because it is not welcome in family of lovers of music. Go debate some Lady Gaga.

  • Obvious troll is obvious, there are no womens on teh interwebs!

  • you have no idea what you are talking about. just because you do not have the intelligence to comprehend lyrics that are not spelled out for you, and take time to think about and make references to music you never heard of doesnt make a band talentless. i love rise against. but it doesnt take talent to hit a couple of powerchords and write one or two acoustic songs

  • You're so fuckin dumb!! Why the hell would you bother watching the video let alone commenting on it several times if they're so "talentless" like you say?? Piss off & listen 2 ur bullshit music or better still do yourself a favour & get ur hearing sorted out so you can appreciate decent music like Gaslight Anthem & u can emerge from ur world of ignorance.

  • I can see people having a problem with TGA... I love them, but I can understand it. I went to listen to McMahon to give you the benefit of the doubt and that guy sucks ass. You should listen to something decent or deafen yourself with a screwdriver to the ear canal.

  • McMahon has been through more than these inbred talentless fags ever will, the songs he writes mean more than these 4 could ever fathom. If people want to listen to these people, that's fine.

  • the band was fcking awesome, they made the original, great to see that Brian digs his old southern rock

  • Comment removed

  • Great stuff. Is he tuned down? A whole step? I thought the song was in A.

  • you obviously haven't seen the old crow medecine show and gillian welch cover then!

  • This guy could sing the phone book and it would be amazing! Also the Gaslight Anthem is the best band to come out in a very long time! This is by far the best cover of this song I've heard.Cheers to him for doing it.

  • true that man

  • soprano17c, Im not into band bashing and Im quite a respectful person but honestly please dont mention Panic at the disco under a gaslight video. Gaslight anthem is a band with a lot of depth, integrity and sincerity. Unfortunately Panic at the disco are more about image, vaudeville and I guess have musical qualities I and most Gaslight fans can never appreciate. I dont think Panic at the disco grasped the poignance and sincerity of the emotion of the original in their cover.

    Thank you

  • panic at the disco is nothing but a big laugh, really.

  • We Gaslight Anthem fans are a lying, violent, xenophobic bunch. Please don't come to our shows.

  • At the end of the day, you still like Panic At The Disco...no wonder you're so pissy.

  • the best cover of The Weight I've heard

  • Excellent cover of an excellent song.

  • What's funny is, there is probably a whole generation of little kids that think this band wrote this song! Good cover of it though.

  • This is mother f-ing amazing
