I think the real power which neutralized the Turkish threat and changed the world was Germans, not Russians. Turkish-German Wars were at our strongest time. However, Russians mostly won against a much weaker Ottoman Empire.
Well, that attack was certainly a bad idea! Very violent, but closer to what happens in the chaos of combat. There's no point in making war any prettier, especially considering the horrors the Russian people experienced during the Great Patriotic War (that's WWII for you, kiddies!)
This is a very good looking movie, kind of didactic - showing you what happened inside an explosive shell! That was certainly neat. It makes one appreciate the horror of war, the destruction and pain that it brought.
I am happy that Russia is coming forth with these high-quality productions. Russia had been known for a rich film industry, unfortunately co-opted by the Communist regime. Even so, the Russian film version of War and Peace has not been surpassed, with awesome acting and scenes.
