  • tol bat parang walang nangyare sa Rack focus..

  • @DIYfilmaker hindi gano nahalata sa video quality, pero nakafocus siya sa mukha ng actor then nafocus sa ice cream. ICE CREAM ! SORBETES!!!

  • @DIYfilmaker ah.. ok =) mejo nkata kona.. sang scul ka pare? film student?

  • @DIYfilmaker DLSU-Manila. Film student 4 years ago. haha

  • great vid man

  • @tatibabe08 thanks dude.

  • You forgot to show how the 'END' shot is done. Please, I'm curious. :D

  • @Petyamester sorry for the uber late reply. =) I used a crab dolly. Put a tripod on it. and just Followed the actor while she walks.

  • Thanks so much,,Im doing an assignment based on recording and stills and I have to use some of these methods...Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! :)) It helps alot!

  • @maverickzero88 YOU'RE WELCOME! Props to sir Vince Groyon. I only got a grade of 2.0 but glad to help out! :D

  • Hey,

how is the song in the video called? I tried "you learn" by alanis morisette but it´s completely different....thanks

  • Hi oh the song? Ya. Sorry, but I had to change it to this. I actually dunno what it's called but its from youtube cus they didn't let me post this cus of the music used throughout the video. I just chose from a list and so far it's the best song...

Sorry I can't help you on this. :(

  • This is really a great help!

    Nice one!

  • Thanks! You planning on shooting a video?

  • You're welcome! Thanks for viewing. =]

  • Great! This was a huge help. I'm writing a short screenplay for my dramatic writing class, and I forgot some of my basic camera terms.

    THANK YOU! :-)

  • You're welcome!! =)

    A screenplay? Ooh what about?

  • Hehe! Thanks for showing an interest.

It's about a southern vampire slayer that returns to her hometown, after disappearing for five years, to protect the woman she loves from a vampire bent on revenge. It's just one in a series of short screenplays I plan on writing.

  • Oooh Awesome!!

I'm a writer myself. I wrote a 106-pages screenplay for my thesis in college.. and it was successfully defended.

And like you, i took a screenwriting course in college. =) Nice to know the video helped you. =)

    ~Nice

  • Your welcome!! Glad I was able to help! =)

  • good shots! but why were all the camera movements done at the same speed? im asking whether you could've zoomed, panned, dollied or tilted up faster. :)

  • Oh wow! Thanks! I haven't actually thought about speed while doing those shots. Anyhow, thanks for the nice comment. :)

Hmm... maybe the panning and tilting part, I've had trouble with the tripod.

with the zooming in--I was also having trouble in controlling the zoom-switch of my vidcam.

in dollying, that was the most difficult thing to control... I was using a crab dolly.

I appreciate your comments :) Hope this answers your question.

  • thanks!

  • Nicely done

  • thank you... I don't consider it as "nicely done".. coz it's not good.... it's okay, though, I hope... heee heee =)

  • that was shitty rack focusing. rookie. wow.

  • ...............wow?

  • A we some (awesome) thank you this is very informative and well shot considering the equipment. Some of the background noise was a little off putting and the order was a vit funny but well done otherwise. I like how the shots were within a real context. This helps us to understand that anyone is able to shoot a film.

    Thanks again. NZ.

  • Lots of somwehat painful errors.

You didn't quite get the idea of the dolly-shot.

Nice overview of different techniques though.

  • Can you please point out the errors...

Thank you. I still am practicing with the dolly.

  • On a fast-paced style video, which is probably the current fashion in videography... here are some unwritten rules:

    1. when zooming-in or dollying-in or out... don't stop the camera zooming. example on [2:12] you stopped (not good). Need to change the scene if you want to stop.

    2. [3:49] you pan more than 90 deg. But not necessarily bad.

    3. There's a lot of camera shaking there. Are you using some handheld camera stabilizer?

Can you show us some change-of-scene techniques.

  • 1. Yea, I stopped. heehee =) I got too lazy editing this one... I know I'm supposed to cut it while zooming-in but.... I got lazy. nyehehe.

    2. LoL... it is! I didn't notice it! haha

    3. No. I was just using my ordinary JVC GRDC395U Mini-Dv camera--which is not even HD. But the only time I hand-held the camera was with the "follow-action, handheld".

Anyways, thanks for pointing it out! haha! But then again, I passed. heehee! I'll still be working on it though.

  • nice job!!.....under kami kay Sir Groyon next term (^_^)

  • Hehe! good luck! mwawalan kayo ng night life!! kidding! But he's really really good!..

with regards to my cam handling... This is my third and final cam handling. and dude, this is barely passing...mind you. He has high expectations... =)

The passing grade is 2.5. I only got a 2.0 but then I passed! (maybe because he was going on a sabbatical leave... *ingtriguing*)

But you'll love him... He's a fun prof. and you'll learn a lot!

  • Waw. ganda nung pagkagawa ng dolly in... Palaging umuuga kamay ko eh. Pano mo nagawa yun?!

  • use a dolly... and well, practice... Take note: it still is a little shaky and yet, I've done this so many times...

  • very informative! Nice.

    What year are you in?

  • I'm currently in my 3rd year, but I did this a year ago.. thanks for the Nice words... :)

  • watch our chase scene... "The Chase - The Apostles".. its about a debt that has to be paid.
