This is what dominated the ufc for a while. You do this then ground and pound, or pass the guard and submit. This, the guillotine choke, pretty much all you need lol.
@tma579 Yeah seen it. Guy broke his skull and died, The drunk dude that did it ended up in jail for a long time & is someones bitch because he couldn't just turn and walk away.
@NintenFan0900 they're probably talking about the record, or maybe what happened when they had someone really strong and trained do this against a dummy, an inanimate object offering no resistance and letting you get perfect form.
@ThePinkMan yes they did wich is abit of a disgrace really because judo is a grappling art so even the legs wuld be involved but yes ur right but also the main reason they removed most leg grab techniques was to prevent serious injury as well as make the sport not seem like wrestling wich is wrong in my opinion but at the same time safer for the judoka however judo is still a very effective martial arts &nearly all the moves can be apllied in a real life scenario
@ThePinkMan: Sure it does, there are dozens of examples of fights where someone went to shoot and got caught with a knee and put to sleep. That's why people train MIXED martial arts, because no single discipline is fool proof, every skill has a counter, even wrestling.
@espada9 There are thousands and thousands more examples of people stopping the takedown with a sprawl. A knee can work occasionally, but most of the time it just leaves you on one foot while you're being tackled to the floor. So in reality it's not the "perfect" time for a knee, rather it's a pretty inopportune time for the knee.
Some techniques just have a higher chance of success than others. A knee in this case is more of a Hail Mary rather than a go-to move.
It's not entirely true because usually you perform double leg takedown as a counter attack. If you notice th guy is a bit oblivious because he is trying to put in some punches, but misses, and then gets taken down.
@ThePinkMan There's a reason most MMA fighters no longer employ the "Dutch knee" when an opponent shoots in for a takedown: Many fighters are savvy enough to drag a knee across the mat when shooting. This means the shooting fighter is "grounded" and any knees or kicks to the head are illegal. Better to sprawl out and then wait for the opponent to stand, then try to catch him with a knee in a Thai clinch on the way up.
@BloodofPatriots The knee was never a high-percentage, effective technique unless the defending fighter sprawled first.
And no, many fighters actually don't go to their knee when shooting. The penetration step is big in wrestling because they keep a very low center of gravity in their stance, but MMA fighters stand taller.
@ThePinkMan In the early days of MMA, Dutch kickboxers were about the only ones that would even try the knee to stop a shoot. Everyone else would either pull guard or sprawl out because, as you stated, it was never a high percentage technique. We define "many" in different ways. It seems you define many as "most." I don't. The collegiate wrestlers that have trained that kind of shoot for a decade and then switched to MMA seem to drag a knee as a reflex.
the math equations are real! fighting is all physics, the equation in the video is used to measure the gravitational potential and kinetic energies conserved in the take down
@TitWarlord Why the fuck would they want to make it look cool? This is all true shit. If you're dumb enough to ask this, than I suggest you don't wrestle. But on the bright side, yes. All the equations are real.
@blivionZz Especially when you note that force going directly onto the spine. Shit. this makes me want to learn a grapple based fighting style like Akido
@tasneefm locking your hands would take away versatility. u want the takedown to be a quick smooth motion so u can move on to another transition. if the guy sprawls, kudos to him. now think of somethin else to take him to the ground. martial arts is all about adapting to what your opponent does and countering it, after all
@o0Guns0o. .... Lol I finished that book a while... A fucking amazing book... Now if someone wants to fight me I'll use that lol........ Yu can lift with yur back, but keep yur back straight at all time, if yu once bend yur back yu will displace joints & yur muscle alignment will break & weaken in 20 to 30 years, sometimes earlier, most of the time yur using yur back & front with leg/hip muscle to lift, so its pretty dim when ppl tell yu how to lift, but if yu wan't to take more precaution, don't use yur back untill yur more experienced & stronger in yur back muscle, back muscle won't be as noticable than yur others

@SundiMundi hey unfortunatly variables are not concrete, sorry but math and reality some times dont match hand to hand. in this case 3000psi on a mat and i dont think u will get that with your variables. more or less please explain the math again its interesting
@SundiMundi Would you feel better if they said, "Drop a 20lb blanket?" The force would be the same. Good job on realizing how meaningless their analogy is.
@SundiMundi Imagine a person steps on you wearing a normal shoe. Imagine the same person stepping on you wearing a stiletto. Now, imagine you're holding a shield and they step on you. All of them have the same force on you; yet the first one just hurts, the second one punches a hole in your flesh, and the third doesn't do a thing. So, obviously it's not really force by itself that would make it painful; it's pressure (lbs per square inch in this case).
@GreenDayFan898989 haha so true, we did this for an hour straight then did it for the entire week in our spare time. No one gets hurt. We were taught to more of sweep them off the groudn rather than throw them off like they do in this video lol
i got this down to me in my old mma class and it didn't feel like was droping a 20lb bag of cement off 9 foot ladder acutally i just bruised my tailbone
why do these ppl lie about the stats a 20lb bag of cement dropped from a 9foot ladder onto someones chest? oh god now these mma guys are incredible hulk and superman fuck outta here fake shit those double leg takedowns dont even have 500lbs of force i say maybe double or triple the weight of the guy your slamming
not really good technique here its much more effective when you take a shot. here all he does is reach down and lift him up when you shoot your knee should glide on the mat
@destroyer919 Thats if your wrestling, because when your only wrestling both guys are leaning forward more so u need to get lower. In mma you can bring your front knee down but it isnt necessary since the other guy is standing up right.

@countercrackers If the wrestler executes the double leg takedown right, you shouldn't be able to guillotine them. If you are able to guillotine them, then they are doing something wrong.
We haven't done any integral stuff and they aren't defining what the subscripts are... I can tell that the equations have something to do with kinetic energy and centripetal force...possibly....
from taking ap physics, i realize that they are taking all possible variables and solving for only one the variables... thats why they end up with such a freaking long equation that makes this look complicated... i just buzzkilled my enjoyment lol
@motorhead992 I definitely understand your point, but there are enough staple techniques in MMA (the sport) to be able to do a show on commonly-seen techniques that many fighters use.
Every time i try lifting a guy(like in the video),my back starts producing stabbing like pain and i lose balance.:(But on the bright side,i can do a good tackle.)
@mastermultitasker DO NOT LIFT WITH YOUR BACK. It can and will affect you later on in your life, they key to lifting weights like this is to lift with your legs
so you're spinal erectors aren't utilized in deadlift type movements??
Spinal erectors are one of the key muscles involved in your core and core strength.
Poor core strength and conditioning leads to injury. Training these muscles properly with good form will not affect you in later life.
Neglecting muscles like this whilst playing/doing MMA, rugby, american football and weighlifting etc, will lead to problems later in life. As will excercising these muscles with incorrect form
@mastermultitasker thats because ur lifting with ur back u need to get yourself underhim so ur almost vertically parrelel and lift with ur legs as u turn him the corner oppisite ur head .its the basic takedown for wrestling if u look up any wrestling video ull see it performed
when the guy grabs you, his head his on the side of your body to avoid a guillotine. but it's vulnerable to elbows, so trie al elbow on the back of his neck. if it's a hard one, he sure will go K.O, because the back of the neck has a lot of nerves. many kickboxers don't go K.O due a kick on the jaw, but due a kick on the neck.
I don't know if anyone else pointed this our already, but he had his head bent down when he went for the double. That's a good way to be choked out easily.
double leg takedown is an overused move. Wrestling offers MUCH more than double leg takedown and it's sad to see all of the wrestlers (except maybe Matt Hughes) who are NCAA champions and all they do is utilize double leg takedown, defense and clinch. What about sweeps, shoulder throws, inner reaps or am I talking nonsense here??? I only see these techniques applied by Judo black belts.
@pcjudosambo The basic moves you learn within the first week you start training tend to be the moves you'll use most when you compete. Saying the double-leg takedown is "overused" is like saying that the jab is overused in boxing.
Also, different wrestling styles emphasize different techniques. Greco-roman wrestling utilizes solely upper-body takedowns. But the style taught in American schools is folkstyle wrestling, which tends to emphasize shooting and double-leg takedowns.
@SwisherMeister Honestly it comes down to strength, the ammount of lift and torc you can generate before thrusting the opponent is what causes the flow of energy. :D
@AdrainAttack3596 Notice I had said, "Lift and Torque", genius. You can always lift or push through in a double leg, therefore you need to twist the person off their base.........
@SoulRippster im not debating that but unfortunately, you nor any1 else cannot prove that. Pankration was an organized Martial Art, which led to MMA type bouts but it's impossible to prove that this technique was invented by the Greeks. Some state that Egyptians (way earlier than the Greeks) learned this technique for their army. Others are saying that Chinese, Indian and Mongol monks have used this (where Japanese jujutsu was born from). It's hard to prove these things.
i love the similes they use.. body slamming your opponent equates to 3000 pounds of force "like dropping a 20 pound bag of cement off a 9 foot ladder onto someone's chest".. yeah, ok.. lol
@EurekaWrestler the sprawl can't always work, I've been taken down, while sprawling, it just matters how well you can reshoot in to the legs and then take him down lol, plus my legs are stronger then alot of ppl ,so my legs and hips can help me lift the person up
@luckynumber58 Decoration, being slammed onto your back at a force of 1360kg would crush you, the only way this is going to happen is if a professional wrestler like the Big Show does this to you from the ladder.

well he sounded kinda stupid when he said a 20lb bag of cement... it can be a 20lb brick or a 20lb candy bar lmfao!

from taking ap physics, i realize that they are taking all possible variables and solving for only one the variables... thats why they end up with such a freaking long equation that makes this look complicated... i just buzzkilled my enjoyment lol
Alegend23 1 year ago
@Alegend23 Yeah, I just started AP Physics C: Mechanics and I recognize some of the equations they are using.
damasta00138 1 year ago
@damasta00138 cool i'm taking ap physics B, i dont know if i want to take C next year or not cuz I'm a junior this year.

m is motion, they're talking about kenetic energy. I only understand 1/2mov2, after the equal sign makes my brain hurt.
theGuyWithTheCamera7 1 year ago
isn't the mma mixed, as in it really doesn't need to be on this show?
motorhead992 1 year ago
@motorhead992 I definitely understand your point, but there are enough staple techniques in MMA (the sport) to be able to do a show on commonly-seen techniques that many fighters use.
Kendamu 1 year ago
@Kendamu Plus, MMA is way too popular not to warrant its own episode.

Every time i try lifting a guy(like in the video),my back starts producing stabbing like pain and i lose balance.:(But on the bright side,i can do a good tackle.)

@mastermultitasker DO NOT LIFT WITH YOUR BACK. It can and will affect you later on in your life, they key to lifting weights like this is to lift with your legs
xxthedroughtxx 1 year ago 64
@xxthedroughtxx
Yeah,i know thats what my dad says also, but it has never been the same after that basketball injury...:(:D
mastermultitasker 1 year ago
@xxthedroughtxx
so you're spinal erectors aren't utilized in deadlift type movements??
Spinal erectors are one of the key muscles involved in your core and core strength.
Poor core strength and conditioning leads to injury. Training these muscles properly with good form will not affect you in later life.
Neglecting muscles like this whilst playing/doing MMA, rugby, american football and weighlifting etc, will lead to problems later in life. As will excercising these muscles with incorrect form
cantstop45 1 year ago
@xxthedroughtxx he is right, look in the video how when he lifts he is later on his tippy toes.
Basedlordx 8 months ago
@mastermultitasker thats because ur lifting with ur back u need to get yourself underhim so ur almost vertically parrelel and lift with ur legs as u turn him the corner oppisite ur head .its the basic takedown for wrestling if u look up any wrestling video ull see it performed
crutchedproductions 1 year ago
when the guy grabs you, his head his on the side of your body to avoid a guillotine. but it's vulnerable to elbows, so trie al elbow on the back of his neck. if it's a hard one, he sure will go K.O, because the back of the neck has a lot of nerves. many kickboxers don't go K.O due a kick on the jaw, but due a kick on the neck.

I don't know if anyone else pointed this our already, but he had his head bent down when he went for the double. That's a good way to be choked out easily.
rageembodied 1 year ago
double leg takedown is an overused move. I only see these techniques applied by Judo black belts.
pcjudosambo 1 year ago
@pcjudosambo The basic moves you learn within the first week you start training tend to be the moves you'll use most when you compete. Saying the double-leg takedown is "overused" is like saying that the jab is overused in boxing.
Also, different wrestling styles emphasize different techniques. Greco-roman wrestling utilizes solely upper-body takedowns. But the style taught in American schools is folkstyle wrestling, which tends to emphasize shooting and double-leg takedowns.

Does any one know if this technique has a height/size factor?
Because I'm tiny as hell.
SwisherMeister 1 year ago
@SwisherMeister Honestly it comes down to strength, the ammount of lift and torc you can generate before thrusting the opponent is what causes the flow of energy. :D
EDungarian 1 year ago
@EDungarian Torque is twisting force, genius. Like an axle.
AdrainAttack3596 1 year ago
@AdrainAttack3596 Notice I had said, "Lift and Torque", genius. You can always lift or push through in a double leg, therefore you need to twist the person off their base.........
EDungarian 1 year ago
@EDungarian *can't always lift

This is a greek invented technique.. pankration.
SoulRippster 1 year ago
@SoulRippster im not debating that but unfortunately, you nor any1 else cannot prove that. Pankration was an organized Martial Art, which led to MMA type bouts but it's impossible to prove that this technique was invented by the Greeks. Some state that Egyptians (way earlier than the Greeks) learned this technique for their army. Others are saying that Chinese, Indian and Mongol monks have used this (where Japanese jujutsu was born from). It's hard to prove these things.
pcjudosambo 1 year ago
i love the similes they use.. body slamming your opponent equates to 3000 pounds of force "like dropping a 20 pound bag of cement off a 9 foot ladder onto someone's chest".. yeah, ok.. lol

except theres this thing called a sprawl so its not that easy as is shown you gotta be really fast and strong its an explosive move
EurekaWrestler 1 year ago
@EurekaWrestler the sprawl can't always work, I've been taken down, while sprawling, it just matters how well you can reshoot in to the legs and then take him down lol, plus my legs are stronger then alot of ppl ,so my legs and hips can help me lift the person up

lol i wonder if all the math actually makes sense with the variables or if its just for decoration
luckynumber58 1 year ago 83
@luckynumber58 Decoration, being slammed onto your back at a force of 1360kg would crush you, the only way this is going to happen is if a professional wrestler like the Big Show does this to you from the ladder.
