  • love love love paul davis

  • I don't we have song like this any more?

  • He is beautiful and very missed. :-(

  • I would have loved to have met Paul. He was beautiful. RIP you so missed!

  • One of the songs in history that keeps everyone from killing everybody else. Classic love and heartfelt compassion.

  • Melts me all over -- heart, mind and body.

  • This song reimnds me of my girlfriend in college. I feel most alive when I think of her.

  • At the very end of the song, you see Paul Overstreet look over at Paul Davis, and you see this look of appreciation to having been part of this. I think they both knew that they had just nailed.

  • I have ALWAYS LOVED this song! I am glad to see Paul still around singing!

  • i would have married him in a heartbeat

  • Many folks may not realize that he also wrote some incredible songs for other performers, a prime example being the Dan Seals country hit "Bop". Dan passed away less than a year after Paul, so I'd like to think the two longtime friends are sittin' around Heaven with a couple guitars singing away eternity and having a blast.

  • I Love him, I pray I make it to heaven and get to meet him someday. I Thank his family for letting us watch his videos, it seems like they approved something because now I'm able to watch more differant ones, I'm very grateful. I post his music on fb more than anyone elses:) God I Love Paul Davis. He was so beautiful.

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG!!! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT HE PASSED AWAY??ANYONE KNOW WHEN&HOW HE PASSED AWAY???

  • @ekpp60 -- Fatal heart attack in April, 2008.

  • Beautiful

  • That is Paul Overstreet singing back-up and playing (the black) guitar, just to Paul Davis' right.

  • love his music

  • I did not he has died, i looked him up on wiki, sad he was among the greats.i was also shocked to learn he was nearly killed in a mugging in nashville in 1986. he lived and contiued to be a presence in the music world, he like all the greats who have passed may have died but there music shall live forever.

  • Beautiful !!! God speed Paul...

  • Singing with the angels.

    God bless you Paul.

  • i really really love this song and mr paul davis there.. everytime i hear this song it gives me the creeps and goosebumps and i really feel the song.. imagining one man who thought he already moved on but still when he saw her again he realized that he really love her still.. so much.. it makes me cry when im alone listening to it.. looking at my former love's photos.. rest in peace mr Paul Davis.. hope to see you in heaven..soon..

  • I AM an old hard core head banger a metal head nut, and I loved him I get so emotional every time I hear this sound. I loved his work, he was one PURE artist no gimmick name no flash pure pure Art

  • @kevindblanch me to...... This is one of my favorite songs from . I'm into punk and hardcore but I write a lot of this stuff on my guitar.

  • This is LIVE, folks, and this song was originally released when Davis was 29. In this video, he was 43. Regardless if you like the song or not, one thing holds true, is that his vocal performance is spot on. Music artists need to pay equal attention to their live performance as they do social networking. Often in this day and age, it's the other way around.

  • @hhession ... the reason this singers sounded great live or recorded is because they were real singers.. not like the ones now days, that instead of being musicians or singers they are just a bunch of lowlife showoffs, nothing more,

  • i love this song ....reminiscing my teenage life....

  • Paul Davis - no pretensions - just a great songwriter with a great voice. Can do the keyboards well enough too. Question - has there a BETTER singer/songwriter/keyboard player in my lifetime?

  • Mississippi son!

  • Goodness...this man can serenade an emotionless pig off a balcony...it's the kind of talent/charm/beauty that just doesn't exist anymore in music :(.

  • Beautiful and before my time.

  • This song is so beautiful ..

  • Wow! This song touches my soul. Love it.

  • Everything about this song is so special to me...I hear that familiar piano intro and my heart skips a beat. What a gift.

  • I sang this in Karaoke, but couldn't finish it. I broke down in tears, when I met my lover, there and looked at her. I cried and had to leave. Better to be single sometimes, the pain for some is too much, way to much to stand.

  • Two Pauls, Two white Stetsons, Two great voices...

  • Great singer/song writer. We're losing them all!

  • This guy was an amazing singer songwriter.... Great song.... reminds me of an old flame....

  • great voice

  • Man he can sing!

  • Love this song. Love him. Piano seems to be overriding him a bit in this.

    See you in heaven, Paul.

  • wonderful song...great guy...RIP

  • What talent! He will be greatly missed!!

  • It's even sadder as a country song....very moving.

  • An amazing talent, and a true gentleman.

  • His music will never be forgotten...

  • /slap the person who pressed the dislike button. That person has no idea what good music is.Paul Davis is a great singer and song writer.RIP Paul.

  • RIP buddy

  • Absolutely! just absolutely a beautiful song!

  • This song and time in my life was extremely important. I remember he came to my relocated town in Fl and my friend requested this song for me.The original album was great. So sorry to hear he moved on.

  • I felt like I was the only guy that liked this song back when I first heard it on the radio in September 1977. Then again I felt like that back in 1970 when I was open to every style of Music. Not just Rock. Most other guys were just into Hard Rock. I was into everything.

  • How cool. He still had the voice in his later years. beautiful, one of my favs..

  • Beautiful

  • How awesome is Paul...

  • "I realize I was blind." What a line this is. Gee Paul why don't you just take me out back and shoot me? After all with that line you've already broken my heart...

  • love this song my favorite song of all time.

  • This song is just so beautiful!!! When he is singing it, you can tell he means what he's singing. He must have written this for someone. It still gives me goosebumps to this day! I don't care how old it is. Almost brings tears to my eyes!

  • he looks so sad in his performance:(

  • Sounds exactly the same live. Fantastic!

  • Great performance! RIp

  • BEST!

  • a beautiful man singing that song....

  • RIP thanks for the memories!

  • We dont hear this talented song writing on the radio :)

  • There is a lot of talent on that stage.....

  • @jajvick I confirm it entirely !!!

  • This songs really gets to heart--I loved his music back in 70's and still do!

  • What wonderfully simple, and purely joyous performance.

  • CowBoy hat Much?

  • It makes me sad for one BIG reason. Because it's about me. I felt this song. I felt the heart ache. There was a girl and I took her love for granted. And then after when it was too late and I looked in her eyes I went crazy. Paul understood.

  • love the song!

  • so touching.. how i wish you were still alive Paul..

  • i've been looking for this song for so long:(.. it really makes me sad:(

  • If you don't love this song, you are a liar. This song makes you love love. It seems like he is rushing a bit in this version though. Why can't we have artists like this these days? Big pimpin, money and hoes, what a bore. Give me something real for Christ's sake, like this.

  • What a classic , I love that song . He died so young . ITunes does not have "on a cool night " what's up with that. I love that song too .

  • What a great song. Even thirty years later it still touches me.

  • what happen to him and what year?

  • @biggin2g Died of a heart attack on April 22, 2008; one day after his 60th birthday.

  • #OMG this is the greatest song. Makes me want to cry. Rest in Peace Paul. ♥

  • He seemed like such a sweet person.

  • Yup truley missed!! Paul is still alive everytime I hear his music=))

    Aloha & Much Mahalo..

  • paul davis. rest in peace son, your work here on earth is done. you gave us this beautiful song. i hope to compose at least one good song before i leave this earth.

  • RIP Cowboy!

  • Paul's the man!

  • It's the kind of song that will touch your soul every time you hear it.

  • Great song many memorys that goes with this song

  • Hey, Thank you for posting this !! Thanks,Again!!!

  • I love this song. I was sad to learn via Wiki that Paul Davis died 4-22-2008 of a heart attack at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. What a loss to the musical world.

  • he died on my bday! :(

  • pero te extraño, no sabes cuánto te extraño T_T

  • I am 40 and I loved this song when i was a little girl growing up in the 70's. How did he die?

  • Novelist6369..I believe, if I remember correctily..he passed with a stroke or massive heart attack...

  • @Novelist6369

Heart attack. Died on his 60th b-day....

  • What a beautiful song. It's touched my life in a special way. Takes me to a special place during my childhood. I'm 42 now. You were big in the 70's just like the 70's part of me. You're not resting Paul. You've just started in heaven. Thank's for the wonderful memories.

  • beautiful song

  • this song spent 40 weeks in billboard hot 100 in 1978 and it peaked # 7.. paul davis died of a heart attack last april of 2008 the day after his 60th birthday! RIP.

  • Blessed voice, and i strongly believe there is a place in Heaven for this kind of man!!!!!

  • one of my favorite songs ever

  • Rest in peace Paul Davis.

  • bien Paul esta cancion te inmortalizo, linda version, gracias por tu musica

  • Beautiful song, beautifully done.

  • always wanted to f*ck him

  • sookiestackhouse2u..ALL i can say is "WOW" I kinda look like him..but can not sing..LOL ! THANK you for your candor...

  • His voice is amazing, this song plays in my head, after listening this song.

  • I sure wish now I could have sen him live...Sad to hear is is gone RIP Paul.

  • I bought 5000 45 rpm singles to keep this records "bullets" and move it from "hit bound" on LA radio station KHJ to become a top 5 hit in Los Angeles. Up until 10 years ago, I still had them in boxes at my mom's house ! ! ! Ahhhh, that good ol' music biz ! ! !

  • 5000 x 45's would have cost what? $1,500? Great story!

  • No, over $7,000.00 -plus california state sales tax...singles sold for between $1.10 and $1.69 depending. I we bought them in mostly "mom & pop" record stores so it would look like "real sales" and not phony ones! It worked! Because of some expert advice by Macy Lipman (I bet you never heard of him), we were able to accomlish for 7K or so what would cost other people 25K.! It's a great story because it is true ! !

  • That's funny....but why? You connected with PD? His label? What did you finally do with the discs?

  • I was running WB Music at the time and I had financed a management company that managed a few artists...One was supposed to be Paul. We had put together tours, etc. all through the Record label owner - but then we got (as they say in french) screweded ! It is long and complicated but the label owner was dating a recording artist and brought his manager in to manage Paul, and we were out ....Ah the music biz ! You just got to love it..!

  • Boy, the music biz would be great without all the damn artists, eh? Funny stuff.....

  • No, the artists and their lack of integrity only matches the people for whom, music is only the excuse, and would easily do the same thing in any other business.....!

  • Ive gotten a harsh lesson in reality the songs by Paul Davis,Dan Seals, and Dan Fogelberg were all my favorites ,...but sadly all are gone

  • they were only lent to us by Heaven

  • love all three of them too. I love their music

  • really brings all of the love you have with his songs beautiful ..RIP

  • R.I.P PAUL DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • still sounds great after all these years...

  • This is a beautiful song that pulls at my heart.

  • Great how Paul Davis translated the lost-love-feelings in this song..

  • Good writer, and one of Rock's fantastic voices. RIP Paul !

  • One of pop music's best love song. Today's music can't match it !!

  • Listening to this song i realize that Styx ripped off the piano riff for their song "Babe, Im Leaving"..........

  • RIP uncle

  • I like this! great song.

  • Great song even when it is played with a country background. I am not a fan of country music but this song is great no matter what background you choose. I like Blue Grass but for some reason never caught on with the general sound of country. Song writers of today could learn a lot from the quality of music that Paul wrote.

  • R.I.P Paul- Sing with the angels ...

  • Paul sounds good, but the band sucks. They don't do a wonderful song justice.

  • Paul sang like an angel for sure. You'll never be forgotten Paul.

  • Is this from American Music Shop on the old TNN? That was a great show.

  • That was a good show. It's too bad that the old TNN channel isn't around anymore. This one kind of reminds me of the old Austin City Limits show.

It's too bad that good shows, and good networks die off.

  • Thanks for the posting. Thank you Paul for the Great music. You Will Be Missed.

  • Your with God now! You'll never be forgotten!

  • Rest In Peace Paul Davis. Your songs will always be in my heart.

  • What a song!

  • Rest in Peace Paul. You were loved.

  • He died???!!! shit! When did that happen?

  • Absolutely without equal. I can't stop listening to his songs, regardless of how painful it can be sometimes. Really hits home. Amazing melodies, words, performance...thanx...

  • I so agree with you.his songs put me in an melencholy mood..

  • I know how you feel I really screwed up with my ex wife AMY From Houma, La now living in Jacksonville, Fl. Love you always Mike

  • This is one beautiful song! Even though I never married my true love, this song always bring to mine such private and sacred memories of that certain one..In other words! Boy! did I screw up!

  • I know where you're comin' from, been there , done that. We must have the same type of heart, Kind of always slightly broken.

  • BEEN there too...We can NOT go back..My heart still breaks from 40 years ago! Just kinda have to go with the flow..MANY MEMORIES have FINALLY become SOUVENIRS!! GOOD LUCK..PEACE!!..RIC

  • What did he die from? does anyone know?

  • A heart _attack. He died the day after his 60th birthday .

  • That has to be one of the most beautiful love songs! Even after all these years it still bring shivers to me. Paul Davis was an incredible singer/song writer. He will be missed and with songs like this, his music will continue to live on and on. Thanks so much for posting this video.

  • His birthday is today and tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of his passing. A truly wonderful voice silenced forever. R.I.P. Paul, you are truly missed.

  • This song always brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it!! It's sooo good!!

  • Paul Davis was sooooo good!!!! Awesome voice!!! Loved this song when I was in high school!! This song almost brings tears to my eyes!

  • such a natural man, so laid back....look at him sitting on that stool.....came so easy for him. Ah...the good die young

  • i dont remember hearing that Paul passed away last year..another great gone forever!

  • I love this song, a great classic.

  • I didn't know he was still performing in 1991; I thought he had retired about a decade prior. I know he died last year around this time.

  • Beautiful song and a Genuine great artist. Wish I could have seen him in concert.

  • Beautiful, he is really feeling the song and singing with his soul.
